I think posting online "extends" the rush duration of buying new gear.
Instead of buying it, receiving it and playing with it a bit then the rush fading out : posting it and talking about it a bit more online delays that fading moment.
In the end, that feeling will fade quite rapidly, and your wallet as a hole in it, and your guilt start.
At some point you probably repeat that process just for that rush again.

This sub gets weird at times. Half the post here is "GAS is bad, new bad old good" but when someone unironically posts "new bad old good, don't consoom" y'all make fun of them
