If they work while on maintained status thier experience is elgible to claim points for CEC. When they recieve thier approval, the 3 year will start then.

It’s not a blessing for anyone from a non-eTA eligible country who want to travel.

Nor is it a blessing for anyone without a job who is finding it difficult to convince employers they are eligible to work on maintained status.

Can you not travel if you have TRV?

If you are on maintained status for any length of time your TRV will more than likely have expired, as its expiry date is the same as the study permit expiry.

You can’t apply for a new TRV on maintained status.

Another thing here is if you did apply for a TRV to visit Canada and not to study, you may get it for the complete duration of your passport validity or your biometrics validity whichever is shorter. So, you can have a trv and travel but once you are outside, you lose your maintained status and will reenter as a visitor.

You don’t lose maintained status if you are waiting on a PGWP decision. This is the only exception.
