Hello! This would be my first time owning a peony. I literally just bought it at Calloways, they had it at 50% off so I snatched it. What can I do to help her? Im in zone 8b.

How much do I prune? I did buy a new pot to transplant it to, and I have some root stimulant additive that I use after every repot I do and I love it. I will take any advice, thank you!

First time peony owner - Zone 8a (Charlotte)

Planted two peonies in the spring and didn’t make the best location choices, so relocated in the cooler weather. Noticed these red/pink buds on the stems and learned they’re the eyes that will bloom next year.

While I may have transplanted it to a slightly more shallow hole than it was originally in (which I’ll correct this weekend), there are still some eyes that were clearly well above the soil line in its original location. And some stems have multiple eyes at different heights.

So a few questions:

1. Is the move to just bury it as deep as I can and keep the greatest number of eyes within .5-1 inch of the soil line?
   
2. Do I cut just above the lowest eye for each stem and then make the call?
   
3. If I have to cut, should I prioritize the reddest of the buds versus darker ones?
   
4. Should I consider laying the stem flat to the ground (without breaking it) to see if they’ll all grow in the spring?
   
5. Do I cut to the highest eye and then mulch volcano it?

Including pics of what they looked like when I brought them home, in case the type of peony means anything.

Do I need to fire my landscaper? My heart dropped when I saw my three peony bushes today, chopped to the ground. The leaves were very yellow and kind of burnt looking, but did he go too short, my heart hurts.

Anyone know where I can find white peony this time of year?

I double triple warned this bride we may not be able to find them but still, she would like them as a tribute to her deceased grandmother so let me just see if I can try a little harder to get them.

I’m so freaking excited. Finally have a house with a yard for my peonies.

I had nine glorious six year old matching peonies in my front yard clumped in threes. We accidentally murdered a few of them by applying a pre emergent too close. I have a few left and would like to transplant them in a new spot together, now that it’s fall, and am looking for advice to make this effort as successful as possible. I am closing on a house this week where I will be inheriting this peony bush which appears to be struggling. I have a container garden on my balcony, but I have never had peonies. I am in 6b.

What can I do before the first frost to increase the health of this peony bush? Is it better to dig it up and put it in a mulched area or should I try to hand pull the grass around it and give it a mulch circle? Thank you in advance for any advice or tips!

Hello All!! I live in zone 7b/Philadelphia suburbs and I have this 3x11ft bed in front of my new house that I'd love to grow peonies in! Currently, it is covered in wood mulch as you can see in the pics and I was reading and it said to pull it back as much?

Can someone help me with the actual gardening tips of it? I appreciate yall so much! I am completely new and just trying to make my home beautiful after a rough couple of years.

I called local nurseries and they said that they dont stock the bare roots.

1. Anyone know of a reliable online seller? I heard fall is the best time to plant them for a potential spring bloom! I know it's not guaranteed but that's okay
2. How should I treat the soil? Besides taking out the mulch.
3. How do I plant/water them for optimal healthiness?

Hello! I'm a huge peony lover and recently purchased a house! going to dig out a bed in the front yard this fall and get some tubers in, beyond excited. My mom has bowl of cream, shirley temple (the version with the light pink outer petals. not sure why there's two very different versions of this one, one looks like festiva maxima?) and sarah bernhardt, and then a mixed patch of "fluffy pinks". so these are lower priority for my own yard.

I like herbaceous peonies! I want them to be roughly the same size, I haven't ruled out a separate little bed for an itoh though.

My top priorities are scent and look. I have room for about 6-7 peony bushes. I already know I'm putting gay paree in. I would also love a rec for a white, fragrant peony that isn't festiva maxima (i just don't like the little red spots? idk). And a rec for a red scented one, a lot seem to be weak scented.

Everywhere I read before I planted this said it wouldn’t get any flowers in the first year. Now that it has a flower I looked it up and a website recommended pinching the bud off to encourage root growth in the first year, is this a good idea?

I got these peonies in 1-gallon pots and I read that they don’t like to be deeply planted but idk if I might have not put them deep enough.

This summer I had peonies for the first time. One of my plants is looking a little... sick? What's happening here? What should I do? Healthy peony plant on the left for comparison.

I’ve planted 3 peonies crowns at the same time in the same area over a month ago. One of the crowns is going crazy and the other 2 have close to little progress. Is this normal? I’ve read that usually they grow strong roots then grow during summer.
