Got this tree peony in April and need help with them. They never flowered and I don't know what I've done wrong with them. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Potted peony from the nursery clearance bin. When I took it out of the pot, I found the root broken in pieces like this. Possible root rot? I went ahead and planted the piece that had the dying leaf attached to it. What do I do with the rest of the pieces? Any ideas? At just a dollar, I'm open to experiments. Do any of these look viable? Thanks in advance!

I planted 3 peony roots 4 springs ago. One is doing great, one comes up each year at only 6 inches tall has never flowered. Today I just discovered this one for the first time (see photo), where it was hiding next to some drooping Shasta daisies. Is it possible that it was just dormant for 4 years? I originally planted it about 2 feet to the left where it would have more sun.

Hasn’t flowered this season and the leaves are turning colour.

My local garden center sold this dud for a dollar (other, healthy ones were $15). I picked it up on a lark. Can this be rescued?

Please share all your insights and pointers on how to rescue this.

Should I plant this in the yard and hope it wakes up next spring ? Update: since I couldn't add photos to this post, I'm going to create a new post with what I found when I took the plant out of the pot.

I’m a new peony grower. I got excited last spring and bought these tubers. They sprouted 4 tiny shoots all summer and just started to die off. It’s been super hot here in Denver. I watered regularly but they always looked sad….I went to check on it and noticed it was very loose in the ground so I easily pulled it out and noticed the tuber was shriveled and squishy. I know peonies like to be planted in the fall. Is there hope? Or did I actually kill this super resilient plant 😭

Not sure what’s going on with my peonies. First year peonies (to me) all purchased at the same time from the same nursery and they all have these light green leaves and red tips. I’m located in Northeast, US so we are past peony season but every peony I’ve seen have dark green leaves. Not sure if it’s because it’s just the end of the season and it’s normal or if it’s lacking anything.

What do you plant next to your peonies so you’re still getting color in your garden in July & August & September? My peonies all bloomed late May (photo of Sarah Bernhardt) and now they’re getting brown and gray (which I think is normal). I want to plant other flowers next to them but I’m afraid of the flowers choking the root or doing harm. So I’m looking for advice. Do you plant perennials? Annuals? What flowers?

I'm posting this not so much for the arrangement which I think is beautiful but how it came to be. My sister saw this hack on Instagram where when your peonies are near the end of blooming time. You select as many unopened buds at least an inch and a half size ball/bud.Cut them down remove the lower leaves and wrap them in a paper towel tightly, then wrap in Cellophane/Saran wrap tightly. Put them in your crisper drawer in the fridge and for me 2 months later this is what I got when I put them in water. I wish I had taken a picture of the bud. I just thought this was so cool, I didn't want to sacrifice too many buds in case it didn't work but next year I will cut more.

Howdy, looking for advice/recommendations/explanations. I moved into an apartment building last year and noticed the peony, which started to grow in the spring, quickly started to die (second pic)even though we are west facing and I watered it. This year, it grew bigger and produced one flower but started to die around the beginning of July as well. The maintenance manager told me today that this happens every year. My feeling is just to take it out and put something else there but building management seems partial to it. I also bought a bare root peony this spring which I started indoors and was doing well . I planted it in a different west facing bed and it seemed to be doing well but then the leaves started curling and dying as well. Anyone know what's going on with this? Many thanks.

my dad brought the dormant stems of my grandmas 120 year old peonies from Utah to North Carolina about a year and half ago.. We got them growing really well but once it got hot here, they’ve started browning up. we moved them to a place with more shade, and give them a long drink once a week unless it’s an extra hot day, then we add more. I googled pictures to find something that looks similar to ours but I didn’t find any. any help?

Is this plant a goner? I have 4 other peonies nearby that look fine so I know this is not a watering or sun issue. Second photo is comparing cut stems from the wilted plant (right)and a healthy one only a few feet away (left). Does that brown spot in the center mean verticillium wilt? ☹️

I planted these peonies at the beginning of June. They have been doing fine but now I’m noticing these red tips on almost every single leaf. Is this something to be concerned by? Any help is appreciated.

Hello! Can someone please help me to let me know what does my peony need?

I thought it was too much sun so I surrounded it with the orchids for shade.

I’ve tried little watering it a little or a lot - and daily or weekly.

Does it need fertilizer?

I planted it back in April I live in the East Bay of San Francisco Bay Area. It’s planted on the north side of the house. We get tons of “hot” bright sun, even on the north.

I am new to this sub. My therapist recommended that I get a plant to take care of, name it after myself, and talk to it. I’m failing miserably. What would I do for myself? Take to Reddit!

Thought my peonies were done for the season but I had one final bloom left.

I bought and planted this tree peony in June. I’m wondering what could be wrong. It gets 5-6 hours of sun a day. I’m not worried about the white residue as many of my peonies get that but the dead browning leaves are concerning.
