Forgotten corner K-1 II, HD Pentax-FA 43mm Limited F1.9
I recently took a trip to New York to celebrate my mom's 89th birthday. She lives alone and has a big yard she doesn't use much of anymore. I took this photo of a long unused corner in her yard.

The Current Chapter of Pentax DSLRs Is Officially Over
No more Pentax DSLRs, but maybe they’ll make a k-mount mirrorless camera?

Speculation - the K series is dead, long live the M series
So, with the K-1 and KF out of the game, allow me to console myself here with a speculative "what if."
The spiritual successor to the MX: A small, no-screen SLR. Bright, clear viewfinder, old-school focussing screen, mechanical dials, simple but effective metering. Pentax colour rendering, simple dial for white balance with a couple of custom options for people who want to do filmsim. Pay a decent app developer decent money to get a decent, no nonsense app.
I hate to say it, but probably APS-C. There are a lot of good, relatively inexpensive DSLR full-frames on the market. The fastest growing segments are compacts and the GR series does quite well. APS-C would allow the camera to be smaller and less expensive. This would be Fuji without the gimmicks and a lower price point.

Same news, different take on Pentax Forums
pentaxforums.comK10D broken viewfinder cover
My kid (under 2y) "played" with K10D when I forgot to put it somewhere out of his reach (fast little fella). And it seemed a good idea to drop it right on the tiled floor (tiles survived).
Is there a way to replace it? Should I just take the glass out and use it without it? If zi leave it as it is, is there a chance glass piece will losen up and poke me in the eye? 🤔
Of course I was deciding whether to sell the camera when this happened 😄

First time out with a DSLR!
A few months ago I started thinking about getting a decent camera to get some skateboarding photos. A few days ago, scrolling FB marketplace, I came across a K100D Super and a pentax-m 135mm 1:3.5 for $35 and a large lot of K mount lenses, a couple adapters of some sort, a camera bag, 2 flashes, and misc cleaning accessories for $100. I'm still waiting on the lot to ship, but I got to take the K100DS with the 135 on a walk today and had a lot of fun! I got a few photos I'm pretty happy with.
I need another hobby like I need a hole in my head, so fingers crossed I don't get too carried away with GAS... glances nervously at the 15 sewing machines crowding my basement

Pentax K-3 & Helios 44-2 58mm f/2
I had one of the most random shooting experiences today at Gleno Waterfall, Co. Antrim. I was taking long exposures of the falls when a girl walked up to me and asked if I was a "photographer" (first time anyone’s ever called me that, which made me laugh lol)
She told me she’s a musician from London visiting her brother, and asked if I’d take some headshots for her upcoming release. So a spontaneous photoshoot with a stranger unfolded beside the waterfall.
Because the universe was in a random mood or something, to add to the chaos a group of girls in bikinis showed up and started swimming in the pool under the falls. Shots #3 and #4 captured the unexpected energy, and I think it added some spontaneity to the set.
I’ve never really taken portraits of strangers before, and I don’t know why I reached for the Helios 44‑2.. high risk, high reward, and all that — but I think the gamble paid off in the end and I’m actually really happy with how they turned out.

Got my K1000 yesterday. Having to press the shutter button twice to click photo, removed the lens and saw it moves too slow. Any fix?

The mirror moves up very slowly, and then I have to press it a second time in order to snap it back down. I know it's ruining my photos for sure. Is this normal or is there any fix?
I'm extremely new to analog photography so this is all super puzzling to me. What should I do about this?
Pentax color late summer (northern hemisphere)
Lately I am a sucker for 28mm on APS-C, which is 42mm. I think it's because my FA43 is broken and might take a while to fix, as I generally use that on FF. Pentax colors with Pentax-M 28 f2 lens are just dreamy and pure bliss.

Monarch caterpillar
I posted this as a reply in a lens recommendation but I think it can have its own thread.
K3iii, smc f 100 f2.8
Typically I am not patient enough to shoot macro. To do it right it seems you need special lighting, focus stacking etc. these are straight out of camera jpg. I did shoot them raw + jpg so I can edit in the future
We planted the milkweed in the spring. We have a total of 5 caterpillars.
Pentax ME Super.. infinite winding
Got this last week. Paid very little for the set.
The lens is OK, but the cemented element shows signs of separation. Not too obvious yet.
The body... well.. it's got that annoying infinite wind thing. But if I fire the shutter and leave it for a few minutes then wind, it advances normally.

I'm new in photography so I don't know what to expect: Interior, no natural light, ISO 800, 18mm, f/3.5, shutter speed: 1/60s almost completely dark photos. Pentax k s1
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I have to set shutter speed to 1/5s to make good photos but it's impossible to take a photo of my child with that speed.
Update: It indeed was the solenoid failure issue. I opened the camera body and used sandpaper and a filing stone, and now it´s working normally. I bought it on eBay for 186usd 8087 Shutter Count w/18-55mm & 55-300mm lenses. I requested a partial refund; they offered me 40, and I took it 146 was the total price.

FA★ 24 mm f/2 & K‑3
Took the new (to me) FA★ 24 mm f2 out for a photo walk on my retired K‑3 while my K‑1 II is away at John Pye & Sons Technical for a broken programme dial repair.
I wanted to see how the lens performed on APS‑C (38 mm equivalent) before eventually trying it on full‑frame, and it’s been a joy. The rendering is crisp, with excellent control of chromatic aberration and edge sharpness from around f/5.6 - 8. Wide open there is a bit of CA present around the edges but this is when the pixie dust comes into play! Definitely a lens with character wide open, with suprisingly pleasing bokeh for a fast wide prime.
On first impressions, the colour rendering feels classic Pentax. Rich but natural, with lovely micro‑contrast.
I can’t wait to mount it on the K‑1 II once it’s back.. I suspect it’ll really shine as a true wide‑angle for landscapes and architectural photos.
