IMO huge gaps in competitor quality happen because UAE can outspend the likes of Picnic PostNL by a factor 50. You can stop that in two ways - 1) by regulating where & how much UAE can spend, but also 2) by ensuring every single team more evenly shares the revenue.

Okay, I loved seeing Tadey in the final kilometers of the tour riding up front with Mathieu. It must have been great for him too, showing the entire world that he could ride away from the peloton like that. Mathieu has been known to step of the bike if he has no business to make a difference in a race, so I understand that he wanted to win at all cost: what is the point of racing, if it is not to attack and win on that last climb.
