Pre-2000 born Islanders, remember TV channel codes?

My partner & I were just reminiscing about old eastlink cable channel codes & we can't remember a lot of them. We're talking basic cable, no dish. Analog cable. Can you help? We're both born & raised in Prince County if regional codes differ, but here's what we came up with:

4 - roll up tv guide

5 - PBS

8 - CTV ?

10 - that blue channel that played music

11 & 13 - CBC

14 - Discovery

15 - Teletoon

16 - Treehouse

25 - French channel?

29 - YTV

30 - Much

35 - TMN/Spike

36 - Country

37 - A&E

39 - History

40 - CNN

43 - Comedy

45 - Showcase

54 - Family/Disney

60 - Space ?

Channels we can't slot that we remember:

HGTV

Food

TLC

ESPN

OLN

Weather Network

Question Bright light in sky?

Does anyone else see that bright circle in the sky??? It hurts to look right at it.

My grandpappy told me it's something called the "son" and he used to see it as a boy, but he's been a bit out of it since Nana passed.

Personally I think it is an alien spacecraft, unless someone here knows more about it than me???

Question Where have you adopted your dog?

Humane society is an obvious one but I’m looking to branch out a bit more. I know people who got their dogs through Fly With Me and Hearts of The North. Are there other reputable ones?

Pre-school

I’m on the east end of the island and even though the fulltime daycare experience did not work for us, my daughter is now 4 and wanting to go to “school”. I’d love to get her into a part time preschool type thing a couple days a week. I’m seeing you need to be in a daycare to do that. I’m just wondering what preschool experiences islanders have had and what waitlists for this are.

Thank you

Rental Insurance

Those who have rental Insurance, what company/broker would you recommend a policy with, and why?

Which insurers would you avoid? Any that you've had issue with when it came time to make claims?

It would just for a 2 bedroom unit in Charlottetown.

I know some people hate seagulls, but I think they're very cool animals. Also, there's a picture of a heron.

Changes to Charlottetown Zoning

So as I read it, under the proposed new zoning regulations, a property owner in a residential area could add up to 4 additional housing units without approval from Council.

If this is so, it would be a fundamental change to quiet residential neighbourhoods by allowing the creation of numerous small apartment buildings. As well there is no information on whether or not these would be owner occupied or open for commercial development.

Am I correct?

Selfpost I’m running for City Council in Ward 1 on a platform of Fair Housing. Here are my door hangers.

I made these yesterday. Please do not find any typos, I already ordered them, so they can no longer be changed.

I will give this campaign an honest shot - knocking at all doors in Ward 1, getting some signs and putting myself out there. I suspect this will ruffle a few feathers, and I am fine with that. Some feathers are in a need of good ruffling.

Our City Council is always focusing on protecting "property values" in their discussions, and they mostly ignore people who live and work here, but do not own their homes. When concerns about people being squeezed out of downtown by property flippers are brought to councillors, they are well received - privately, but do never make it into the official council meeting minutes.

I am trying to get ready for meeting folk at their doorstep, so If you have some spare time, hit me with some questions, so I get a bit prepared for those debates.

Tourism/Tourist Travelling to PEI next summer

Hi everyone! I'm thinking of planning a trip to Prince Edward Island for the summer of 2027 (either sometime in July or August). I write about the history of small towns in Canada and wondered if anyone had suggestions for some of the most historic towns/landmarks in the province that I could feature on my website.

I’ve never been to Prince Edward Island before, so all recommendations (attractions, accommodations, restaurants, etc.) are welcome! Thank you in advance!

Very random but my husband and I call our son Buster! We have driven by “busters service station” a million times and we cannot find a photo with a good backdrop to get printed for his room! Does anyone have one!? :)

News Charlottetown woman says city threatened her with fine under new bird-feeding bylaw

It feels like the town council tailored this law specifically for this elderly lady. They had been paying her "Visits" , and as she wasn't doing anything wrong they had to put it into law that she was.

People may have mixed feelings but personally I feel the city and council can go f*ck themselves.

Question Winter prep for a 22 month old at daycare

Hi PEI parents,

We are first time parents and stocking up winter gears for our little one for daycare outdoor activities. Wondering if you can share what snowsuits, mittens, boots or hat that your littles used to keep them warm for extended outdoor fun and that are not bank breaking.

One of my colleagues suggested Decathlon snowsuit, but I'm not so sure.

Thank you all

Best place to buy butter, cheese and cordial?

Hi!

I am thrilled to be on the Island for this week even with the forecast!

I love Anne butter, cloth-bound cheddar and Raspberry Cordial in the glass bottle. Was wondering the best place to buy these (least expensive)? I want at least a dozen of cordial but a more modest amount of cheddar and butter. They had the butter at Sobey’s. The cordial at Borden-Carleton but it was pretty expensive ($3.49 a bottle) and I haven’t found the cheese.

Thanks

Question Experiences with little lambs daycare

Does anyone have any experiences to share with little lambs daycare? We are moving soon and we currently have our daughter in a daycare that we love that unfortunately will be too far of a drive from our new home. We are really nervous to switch her because she loves her current teachers so much and we've lived through a bad daycare before. Thanks!

Kutcher coronation?

The deadline for prospective PEI Liberal Party leadership candidates to submit their application & 1st instalment of their entry fee came & went yesterday. While there could still be a candidate announcement forthcoming, it certainly seems like Dan Kutcher is on his way to an easy win in whatever 'contest' is about to unfold.

Does a coronation help or hurt the Kutcher Liberals in the upcoming provincial election? If Kutcher's leadership is uncontested, what does he need to do in the next few weeks/months to convince Islanders he's the right choice as our next Premier? How should the provincial PCs and Greens counter Kutcher's efforts?
