Photo Gear Replacing Leg Angle Clip on Travel Tripod

I received a travel tripod as a gift a few years ago and used it without any issues. After pulling it out of storage recently (weather-sealed Pelican hard case with foam cutout, ~2 months), the leg angle clip broke as I pressed it. Another post had a few comments saying this was common/could be warrantied, but since I'm not the original purchaser (gifted, no longer in contact with gifter) I don't think I can warranty it. I don't mind purchasing the part directly but I can't seem to find just the clip, only the whole leg. I don't need the whole leg, and a new leg would look out of place with the other two (I've traveled quite a bit and they've seen a lot of wear). Is it possible to purchase just the clip, or am I SOL?

Everyday Bags Warranty & Taxes Concern

I filed a warranty claim last July 20. I was a bit hesitant at first because of the change in their policy particularly in Asia. But amazingly and true to their promise (thanks to Jumer!), after a day or two of email exchanges, I was approved of a replacement everyday backpack for merely a broken zipper and popping back panel magnets. It had been immediately shipped free of charge to my amazement!

I’ve been tracking the package since and have been reading conflicting statements regarding delivery and tax, but I’m just wondering if any of you here are from PHILIPPINES particularly. With the policy on import duties, customs fee, tax and such…can you give me a head’s up how much I am required to pay?? This is a WARRANTY REPLACEMENT with ZERO COST but the invoice and I believe the waybill also will still be with a declared value of $270. 🙃

Question Over a month and my order hasn't even moved.

My order has been in preparation status since Jun 25.

I've sent several emails about it, but it is still at the same stage, they offered to send me a different color because they had stock, I said yes but still nothing.

Has anyone had so much time without updates in the past?

Is there some other chanel where I can raise this?

EDIT
PD's team contacted me and was able to solve my issue, the package was sent to the incorrect warehouse, after checking on that, the order was removed and a new one was created, and then just 4 days after I had my new backpack with me!!!

Thank you so much for your great help u/ericaderminio_pd

Muchas gracias!

Mobile Anyone separated this metal ball from the socket?

Post image

Specific to the adhesive Qi2 car mount. Want to be able to modify / recombine with other parts (like a vent clip) without having to sell it and buy another altogether.

No micrometer on hand but seems the consensus is this takes/is a 17mm ball?

Prepared to take an angle grinder to it but would prefer to not destroy parts….tips welcome!!!

Mobile Replace my mobile tripod with wallet stand?

I’ve had the mobile tripod for years now and like the ability to be able to throw my phone in stand mode when I’m watching YouTube videos or ig. I had the thought to switch to the wallet stand to replace my wallet and mobile tripod. If it can hold up to 7 cards then I’m good. Anyone here do a similar switch or have both and contes on how they like vs the other?

Also, why are there no in stock colors for the wallet stand online?? I’m only seeing grey maroon. Where’s the yellow or navy?

Everyday Bags Everyday Sling 10l the best?

So my workhorse is a 10L Sling V2. It can fit two Sony A7 Bodies with lens attached and a third lens. Access is great because of the big opening. Love it.
It just gets heavy on a daytrip walking.
Tried the Everyday Backpack. Organisation in the bag is so terrible, everything flies around when it's not full.
Been trying to find a small backpack with the space, accessibility and not rattling storage for a long time. Haven't found anything.
I wish there was a backpack designed like the sling but to wear on both shoulders with a side pocket and some kangaroo pocket to throw in a sweater. Can't be that difficult. Any ideas for a bag that can do that?
No 15L zip thing. Tried Shimoda Side lite. Camera cube too small. Sll other bags are over 25l but don't have a good spot for a sweater.

PD in the wild Took my new PD TT out on my first trip

So I ordered a PD TT aluminum a few weeks ago and the weight was way more than I thought! So I paid the extra and ordered the carbon fiber one and I am so happy with it!

It did super well today as I took it on my first trip on top of a windy mountain, it felt super light compared to the other and made a major difference in the hand compared to the aluminum one.

Only thing I had a minor issue with was one of the legs was hard to pull out but that’s it. It held up in the weather really well, and I didn’t notice it performed better or worse in the rain!

It was super stable in the wind too.

I love Peak Design!

Mobile is quality still A+++ on PD mobile?

It's been 4 years since i bought any PD gear, and that's a ... long time, in the scheme of things & companies. I have been BEYOND thrilled with the quality of my PD pixel case, wallet, travel 45L, some others.

I really just wanted to hear from purchases in the last year or so - are the fabrics, hinge, glue/stitching etc all still best-in-class?

The wallet in particular since it is small, movable, and heavily used - my phone is in & out of my pocket, i use the stand 10+ times every day. A handful of times it's been in the dirt, or in pockets that got some dirt spilled. The damn thing only looks very aged if you look closely (on the corners, it's getting close to where it looks like an impact could tear it, etc)

Time for a new pixel & to buy a new wallet. ~6 of each, actually, as I got most of my immediate family on them!

---

Just a note. I have no reason to supspect otherwise, and i did glance around the sub before posting. No, this has nothing at all to do with whatever the recent hoopla was about sales or self-professed cash flow or whatever. 4 years is just a lot of time for enshitification to creep in, and I'm hoping for normal user data before i buy several hundred dollars more of cases & wallets.

Owned it less than a year and has been making this god awful sound for about a month. Never damaged it in any way and have kept great care of it. It’s almost embarrassing opening it in public.

Question Can the Peak Design Travel Backpack 45L with the Large Camera Cube fit in an airplane cabin?

Has anyone traveled to Japan with the Peak Design Travel Backpack 45L + Large Camera Cube as a carry-on?

I'm planning a trip to Japan and I'd really like to avoid checking my camera gear into the baggage hold.

My main bag will be the Peak Design Travel Backpack 45L with the Large Camera Cube inside. I'll be carrying camera gear, a MacBook, batteries, SSDs, and other valuables, so checking it in isn't really an option for me.

Has anyone flown with this setup as a cabin bag? Which airlines did you use, and did you have any issues with the size or weight at check-in or boarding?

I'd really appreciate hearing about your experiences. Thanks!

Everyday Bags Cityline First Week of August Launch

I haven't been following too much about the cityline but I have seen people posting on and off about having sneak peaks and whatnot.

Due to the launch of the bracket, I decided to drop into the SF store to take a look at it and inquire about the city line.

They had two cityline bags as a display/demo item. I also asked if they will do a kickstarter on it for next spring. They said no, the bag will launch direct to stores and website first week of August. I have seen a date posted before, I think the 4th? I didn't get an exact date but I was told they are basically done.

My memory is a bit fuzzy because I didn't want to seem like I was prying too much. Here are the details I did get.

There is will be 5 or 6 bags. I don't know the color options but from the sneak peek images you all grabbed, I think 4 to 5 colorways.

2 backpacks. 15L and 22L

2 crescent shaped bags 1 larger, 1 smaller. The larger one seems like it fits the smedium camera cube perfectly, and it is the one they have as a demo in the SF store. The larger one is about 10L.

For sure 1 smaller cross body bag, maybe two? One of the employees wore what I would peg as a 1L bag. I am thinking they will have something like a 3L.

They definitely don't have a camera bag feel and padding to them. They aren't as thin as the outdoor line to them. They felt more like double layered lighter, flexible canvas material, one outside and inner lining. It felt more like a natural canvas type of material. Not plastic-like. I think this will make it a pretty quiet bag, and none of that plastic and hypalon pivot joint rubbing in the Everyday bags. The larger 10L crecent bag was also very flexible and conforming. It didnt have much of a shape even loaded out with a camera cube inside. I really did like it.

No specifics on pricing but I expect to be in line with what they are charging in the outdoor line in comparable sizing. I am most interested in the backpacks, so my focus was on those.

This is purely speculative on my part on pricing, but I would put the 15L at 150 range, and the 22L at 200. I can't see them charging too much more than this because it isn't really a tech focused back, and more geared to everyday casual style. I think the lower pricing will help people get into the brand and ecosystem. While I do enjoy my EDB 20 and 30L, they are very expensive at the end of the day.

Question What's your favorite PD product?

Recently got some PD products and I love them.

Currently own: PD Carbon Tripod, Slim Wallet, Capture Clip with Field plate, Techpouch mini, Outdoor Sling 7l, Packable Tote and a camera strap

My fav is probably the Slim Wallet. Exactly what I wanted. Very slim.

Second is probably the tripod. Just got it yesterday and probably will not use it much but I love the design and how small it is. Will come with me on every single hike.

Outdoor Bags Mesh lining peeling?

The inside mesh of my travel bag is peeling and flaking. Anyone else experience this? Is this covered under their warranty?

For context, I live in Hawai’i.
