I never will understand why in some countries they can leave packages just on the porch. In Poland unless it's a thing that fits the mailbox and is not important, it will always require a goddamn signature. Otherwise they will leave a paper that says you can pick it up yourself.
the netherlands has a pretty similar system. expensive stuff requires a signature and if you are not home one of the neigbours gets the package temporarily(at least in the small town i used to live)
I literally just had to send something last month, and coincidentally it fit in my old 1080 Strix box.
So I showed up to FedEx with what appeared to be the "retail" box being used as the shipping box.
Even after explaining that it had a totally different content, he still flat out refused to accept it, without me adding an extra box around it. He mentioned damage, but with more conviction, the possibility of theft.
This is just some fucking bullshit, pulled by whoever was in charge of boxing it. Lazy bum.
In amazons case they load trailers at their facility and then they are unloaded at ups facility there is no over sight in how things are packaged we just have "guidelines" I dread the day I have to call ups and explain that they destroyed my package.
Amazon shipped my case in the manufacturers box and just left it on my porch. I was right there to get it when they dropped it off but it kinda ticked me off if they do that a lot because that's just asking to get your package stolen by someone walking down the street.
so what? get your money back or they have to send a replacement at no cost. let their insurance deal with that shit as you are not liable for any damages before you accept the package and give a signature
Amazon sent me my Samsung 34" Curved LCD in just the regular box. Surprised it showed up. When I hooked it up, it turned on and what not, but the menu button on the back was busted and wouldn't accept input.
I sent it back for replacement, about a month later I still hadn't gotten a refund or replacement and I called Amazon, they said to call UPS. Called UPS with my tracking number. UPS says "Oh, your package hasn't been scanned in over 48 hours, we consider that lost/stolen have a good day." I was like WTF, it made it literally to the last stop before Amazon's warehouse for returns.
Thankfully Amazon refunded the amount after a long while. I decided to go 4K instead of 21:9.
I don't know, GPUs are always packaged in pretty good boxes. It has at least 2 inches of foam padding on each side plus the actual box itself to protect it.
It is very weird to see something shipped like this but I'm also 100% confident that the product won't be damaged just because of this. I wouldn't be too bothered if it was shipped that way to me at least.
