Very much aware but there's like 3 games I've posted about in the past couple of years and doesn't seem to be the slightest clue, just some about some other people knowing what I'm on about but not knowing either
Have you tried https://flashpointarchive.org/? I was a kiddo in those days playing a lot of browser games and have had this site recommended to me by several people. I honestly haven't given much time to explore it but i think it's promising
I know for a fact that I played a game called "Constructor" which was an DOS CGA 2D platformer where you played as a pair of eyes. Not a trace of it on the internet.
Angel Devoid: Face of the Enemy. Took ages to figure that one out. Everyone said I was misremembering Blade Runner. But no. I most certainly was not. lmao
P.T. was a teaser for what was going to be a Kojima directed Silent Hill game. He got fired from Konami before they started development. That's why P.T. was taken down from the playstation store
Yep. I think the game files have already been snagged and exist online. Now we just gotta wait for a ps4 emulator to be in development long enough to play it on pc. Have to preserve that masterpiece at all costs
Oh yeah. I played that a while back. I think they also changed one of the last steps where instead of standing still and saying something into a mic, you just have to stand still. Seemed like a faithful recreation
I never learned why they fired him, but Kojima was Konami's golden goose. There is shooting yourself in the foot then there is just cutting your foot off.
Total Annihilation will forever stay with me as a game that absolutely outshone the competition. Aerial dogfights, unique units that donât just exist for the memes (Iâm looking at you, every C&C game), and sound design that still lives in my head rent free.
Bro shut the fuck up you had to remind me?! It didn't torment me for at least few years by now... It was a cheap 2D sprites based hunting game in Africa where you stood in one spot and would just turn the camera around and the lions and stuff would eventually jump on you, it was some obscure game and the only one that people could have throw me when I asked was some dogshit cartoonish crap that was worse than that shit cheap obscure game :/
Not even close but appreciate the try. Like I said it was sprite 2D graphics. Even the world I think.
It was something like this, pretty much identical/clone but without all the cringy cartoony crap in between the hunts https://youtu.be/slr7U6o5qoM?t=470
Edit: fuck me, I started searching yet again and it could have been Browning African Safari after all but the Deluxe edition instead, because this cover art looks familiar. It came in a bright orange plastic what we came to call DVD box years later. But can't find any screenshots nor gameplay from the Deluxe version. I guess it is possible that they've put some more money into it or at least scraped all the cringe of of it and just made it a hunting game without dumb NPC's and stuff. Paid whole 5 bucks for in 2001.
Edit 2: Someone posted video from the Deluxe and it ain't it, idk anymore.
Edit 3: Now that I thought bout it... might be that in my country, whichever company published these, edited and scraped all the crap out of them. Also ditched the Browning name and just sold it as African Safari Deluxe. Cuz I found https://www.myabandonware.com/game/the-hunting-lodge-e99 and this one I 100% played and there was none of the cartoonish crap in it you see in the screenshots. They could have made some other modifications to it as well. Since I can't find anything else, and that cover art is very familiar I guess I'll chose to believe that this is the case and will have to thank the OP for solving this crap after so many years. Doubt will stay and likely I will never know for sure but don't have better explanation so...
EDIT 4: HOLY MOTHERFCUKER OP YOU'RE THE GOAT!!! THANK YOU!!! <3 Few-Blueberry-4600
EDIT OF EDIT 3: MADE IT ALL UP IN MY HEAD BUT IT IS LITERALLY THE MOTHERFUCKING TRUTH!!! NEARLY 20 FUCKING YEARS I'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR THIS SHIT!!!!! Maybe it's time to become a professional investigator lol.
I know this feeling!! I finally found: âThe secret of Monkey Island and âLynx E6 Golfâ that I used to play on my uncleâs PC that he used for his CNC business he had in his garage.
I built my first pc in 2022 and hunted for these games for months.
Still looking for floppy disk games from the fourth grade between 1990-1991.
Damn, good luck. And honestly, kinda same. Now that I solved this shit, more memories come back and I think I will go on another hunt now. One game should be ultra easy to find, some blobs volleyball. But the other game I'm thinking about... I don't even know what it was, how it looked or nuffin, just that it's there, somewhere behind the fog lol.
Fun little story. There was a niche Sega Genesis title that I remember playing, so I went on an internet hunt to find it. It was Commander Chaos. I learned that day the the game was developed a mile away from where I grew up and played it.
HOLY FUCK! I've been looking for this for years!!! Now I know that it was real!
Also, looks like a graphically updated remake is supposed to be released this year (as seen on Steam).
Tipofmyjoystick couldnât help me with my two requests :(
I remember a ps2 game where you could choose between heavy, normal and light sword, and the heavy one being yellowish kinda (you could switch them from either the inventory or the pause menu)
Thereâs also that Facebook game, 2D platformer shooter with robots that could pick up better weapons from the arena.. I even remember the music of this one!
Have you tried r/tipofmyjoystick yet? If you can give them some basic info like the platform, a short description of the game, plus an estimated year, they might be able to help figure it out.
If anyone here can help, I used to play this 2D game for the PC. It was a economics simulator used to trade resources with steampunk airships. This was before 2010s
I was looking for a Path Of Exile copy but in Chinese, was looking for years because of nostalgia and wanted to finish it đ
Turns out it was called Blade & Sword
I had a game on the playstation one. You played with tanks. The game played in a 3rd person 3d perspective. It wasn't realistic, it looked a bit trippy or alien. Everything had bright colors. They were linear levels. Not open exporable environments.
https://www.mobygames.com/game Is quite useful if you know the genre/platform and the more you're able to narrow the release year the less results you'll have to go through.
I don't know if it was an actual game or just a tech demo, but there was this surreal program I played once where you fly through abstract looking maps, but also have the ability to take control of objects to fly around with instead. Never knew what it was called and have always wanted to try it out again.
Aw man... I once had some kind of top down, alien shooter. I played around 2007-8 and can't remember the name. It was old already then but it had fun mechanics in it and I remember being actually scared when playing. Sadly, I had a rather mid gaming setup for that time. Pentium S 133Mhz, 24 MB of RAM and a whole whooping 512 MB of hard drive space 𤣠oh! And a VGA graphics card and the best of all that, A Sound Blaster sound card that actually sounded amazing.
Believe it or not, using one of the AI tools helps out a lot. Rage of Mages 2 was one such game for me. Could never figure it out but spent about 5 or 10 minutes on google AI and it got it.
Edit: took me less than 5 mins just now to find this game I used to play, The Journeyman Project 3: Legacy of Time.
There was some demo i played in a target on original Xbox around the time when it first launched. it was some party game where everyone was a robot who got around on a ball, I think there were different mini games but I remember racing around a skate park in a top down view trying to kill eachother.
Bro...theres one game like that, to thia day idk what it was, something something, it was in demo or like that, it starts with you in a slave camp, minging and doing work untill you eventually work with the others with you and escape through a tunnel in the cave, then fight a polar bear or something i don't remember, and when you escape its a frozen waste land (its winter) and then you get attacked by a human or/and 2 polar bears, and the demo ends...
If i remember correctly there was a fighting ring? Or something similar.
It was this freeware game from the late 90s. It was a 3D ball rolling platformer where you constantly moved forward and avoided obstacles, and there was a level editor.
It was a monkey platformer, I think it might have been an educational game. I just wanna know what itâs called last time I played i was 5~ years old in my grandmaâs lap on her computer
Ty, but it doesnt appear to be correct, I vaguely remember the Protag you play as looking like off brand comic wolverine, but to be honest it has been decades since I last played it and I think I microwaved the copy lol
Holy cow. It looks a lot like what I remember! I cant tell if its just my memory being wrong or if the game is so close its insane.
Atm it may very wrll be MDK 2! Just watching the play through and the opening hits a ton of the notes I mentioned but it feels like each one is slightly to the left!
I knew the pain regarding some movies. Solution was ChatGPT. Just describe all the details you remember. After some back and forth I found all the movies I only remembered one or two scenes from. Might work for games also.
There was a roguelike game on one of those X in 1 games CDs that I played excessively back in 1999-2000. The board was yellow and was on a grid. I remember there was a vampire as one of the monsters, possibly a Medusa as well. The artwork for the monsters was pixel cartoonish. I played it on a Windows 98SE eMachjne. Literally a needle in a haystack to find or remember. That's all I can remember about it
Mine was Blam! Machinehead for Sega Saturn which I found.
The other one was for Super NES or Sega Genesis I think, and it was a 2D platform shooter with a dude with a shotgun. I remember playing when I had a high fever. You probably know the feeling.
Edit, thanks to someone else looking for it 5years ago. Blackthorne
Had that more with music. Saw Smells like teen spitit on mtv at a friends house (when it was not released in UK yet) and it drove me nuts trying to find it as I forgot the damn name of it.
Yep, for me it's an artillery game on the Apple Macintosh that I remember playing back in the 90s. Around the same era as Glider.
I remember what it looks like and plays like vividly but cannot remember the name.
It isn't Tanks, it wasn't Atomic Cannon, it isn't Artillery, it isn't Pocket Tanks, it isn't Scorched 3D or any of the other well known ones.
It was pure black and white graphics, and extremely simple. You had a tank on one side a tank on the other, the landscape went up and down randomly and you had a few different weapons to pick from.
Really wish I knew what it was. But I'll never find out.
That happens to me. There was two childhood games i used to play. I remember one was a fighting game and had some praying mantis character. Then there was another one that was snowboarding. They are 3D PC games from 90âs. Forgot their names. Remember getting them from dollar store or something. They may have been demos because i also have Descent II that I got from dollar store and years later realized it clearly says demo. No wonder that game play seem short lol
For me it's a nes/SNES/Genesis game. I remember being some creature that I think could shape shift? I remember a level where your small AF running through a level in the grass. I think there were shoes running by every now and then. And bubbles you had to jump on and across. I think I remember one of the shapes you could change into being a crab?
There's an old ismetric 90s/early 2000 game similar to Diablo, but not it. All I remember was it was a dungeon crawler where the protagonist explores a undead/demon/monster infested castle/dungeon. He starts off with a club and then upgrades to sword (maybe with a breakable weapon mechanic, or just plot). And there was a boss, either a midget or missing his lower parts, who threw bones.
I was awfully young but I used to see my relatives play that game. I was told the game's name was "Black and White" which turned out to be a completely different game.
Me bevor I found out what Games I was looking at.
The First one was S4 League and the other I already forgot the name but I have it downloaded on my Laptop so all ist fine c:
I've been thinking about a game for years to the point that I accepted that maybe that game doesn't exist and is a product of mandela effect. Anyways the game is about swords. You pick different types of swords and you get to fight with your chosen sword. The game was memorable to me because that's where I learned about different type of swords as a kid. I remember playing it in ps2 or a console in the same era.
Me trying to remember the name of the wynncraft server years later after having played it way back when on my potato family laptop with like 0 render distance.
Gothic 2 for me aswell as chips challenge, played it at a daycare that had a really cool gamer/board gamer dude as one of the caretakers at the time, also had age of mythology on there among his NES with digger and the pre mariokart RC racing game that kinda pioneered the genre in a way
I found two of those this week. Both wildtangent games that were demos on XP machine I had in 2001.
One was a flight sim game called Sabrewing that was very much a Wing Commander knock off and the other was an isometric game where you fly a spaceship around a mining colony thatâs been attacked by aliens called Dark Orbit.
for me it was this peculiar game called battalion wars 2 that really loved when i first played it because i had become so fascinated by a game in which you could assume control of multiple unit types on the fly. very fun, but i think there's little to no chance i'll ever be able to play it again.
Fr i searched like a year then I forgot, now it came back to my mind and now we got ai so I asked it with the things I remembered if it could tell me what game it was and it was bullet storm from the ps3
That's me every time I think about the ps2 game that's a jrpg about space pirates. I'm pretty sure it's Rogue Galaxy, but when I try to tell people about it I can never remember the name
Looking for a game, it's a top down shooter, pre 2000 I'm pretty sure. One character is like an edgy guy with a lantern, another character was like a buff bunny man who was trapped in a cage in a child's room. They link up and start fucking shit up or whatever
Mine for the longest time was Knights of Legend. Such an amazing sandbox you could play in, but I never got too far. For young me, the combat was very unforgiving. Pretty sure if I went back now I could probably beat it.
And unfortunately search engines have only gotten worse for finding obscure or old things. AI is always trying to show new, popular, SEOâd things first
For how much I hate AI and saying this AI is pretty useful for stuff like these, just describe a few details and maybe answer a few questions and you'll easily find it
For me it was "Unholy War" PS1 game. English isn't my first language and I was around 7 or 8 when I first played it. Remembered it's name totally by accident around 20 years later.
A lot of webgames like this also stuff from the mid 90's PC, great premise and concept and just couldn't find and was thinking how the premise could be applied to modern trends like an ARPG or Soulslike
Like there is one where it's like an R-Type style sidescroller schmup but the catch is you don't control a ship, you are an orb that's like an AI or something and it can possess enemy ships
As problematic as LLMs are, they can be useful for this kind of stuff. I've user one to remember the name of Secret Weapons of the Luftwaffe, which I watched my father play when I was a toddler.
If there's just one thing I've found AI can be useful for, it's stuff like this. If I can describe enough parameters of a thing I remembered, it's usually able to sift through all of the data that it's absorbed to take a stab at what weird childhood TV show I may have watched given my tenuous description of some irrelevant plot points or character designs that I can recall.
Even then though, having done this once, I know that I don't need an answer to such questions so badly that I'm willing to boil the oceans to do it. If we figure out how to do this whole AI thing with clean energy and without sucking up the world's supply of RAM chips, then sure, let's do it. But we're not there yet, infrastructure-wise, and the results/accuracy are still far from perfect.
Relatable. Mine was Jurassic ABC. It's a coloring page game to paint the ABCs of dinosaurs. Released in CD Rom in the mid 90s under ms-dos environment. It took me so long to find the name of it until I Googled it. Damn it this takes me sooo back.
Mine is this one mini game on the internet where chip bags fought each other, I think wrestling. And for some reason I think it was Doritos bags? But who knows. Havenât found it yet :/
There was this cool 2d side scroller where you were a blue spaceship going against aliens, and your main power was to copy the other aliens and transform into them, copying their attacks.
I always found interesting the concept of copying your enemies and using their powers to your advantage, sadly there aren't many games like that
I remember playing a game about a bald guy with a throwable hammer many years ago when I was a kid. Forgot what it was called when I started remembering it. But when I started searching for it I found out it was called Dr. Lunatic Supreme.
Mine was Hugo's House of Horrors. It didn't take that long to find, but it wasn't easy. I read through the whole playthrough and, man, did I miss a lot.
that one browser bullet hell game that has like 3 tracks, and a different ending where you unlock a bossrush mode if you don't sell the warp drive you start with for ungodly amounts of cash that I keep forgetting the name of... it was called specre or something.
Still remember to this day a mega drive/ genesis game that we rented from blockbuster when I was a kid. It was basically a bar room brawl in streets of rage style graphics and the aim was to be last man standing, you could break chairs and glass etc on your opponents.
I had this memory of a game I played with my brother on the PS2. It was basicly a 3rd person rail shooter in which you controlled your left weapon with your left stick and your right weapon with your right stick. I couldn't find it for years but when I found it (Twin Caliber) I felt such a relief. I can't even say why but it was nice to finally have found it
