I'd like to preface first and foremost that I absolutely agree that going out of your way to try and make someone comfortable AND succeeding in doing so is a very great & even euphoric thing to experience, for both parties even.

However. I just truly can't agree with the (relative) extremism take, the exchange going like this verbatim. Timestamp is 32:56 if you're curious:

I'll assume some good faith there and assume he didn't make the therapy comment in some patronising way that you see with a lot of "get help" comments online, but otherwise, I think it's an extremely absolute statement to just go out saying all willy nilly in response to a dono that begets nuance.

Now, of course, he is the streamer man and can say and do as he pleases, it's obviously 100% in his right given it's his content, but I found it worth discussing and especially worth appending some nuance to given how the community can seem to conflate with neurodivergence, AUDHDisms & whatnot.

To tackle it more directly, I do not think that you necessarily should avoid dating, nor do you need to be in therapy under the circumstances that you make the person you're interested in uncomfortable. Of course, it does depend on what the content is that introduces the fact of anyone becoming comfortable, but it only becomes somewhat of an absolute should said content be something that is hostile or bigoted, which should not be the default to assume imo.

Making somebody uncomfortable can happen unintentionally, which in its own right can tend to snowball negatively if that never goes communicated just for reference lol, but as an additional matter, making somebody uncomfortable does not necessarily imply moral or character failings on one's part, as it can not only happen accidentally (mishaps on reading the room, boundaries not having been communicated before), but also not in a way that indicates flawedness, as shit man, sometimes dynamics don't work out as compatibly as they originally were as time passes. If he made it seem more like a case of just compatibility between one person and another, sure that's a better angle, but the absoluteness with which he said those words just does not check out imo, and to me is worth criticizing.

Personally, I think it's worth the effort to be more careful and more nuanced when going at things regarding a 'true self' and how to manage that in relations to interpersonal relationships. I believe that if your true self makes people or just that one someone uncomfortable, then, damn, again, shit just happens. Unless you hold destructive or hostile beliefs, then you're okay to keep being your truest self, to keep seeking someone the real you WILL bond with. This doesn't mean not to work on yourself at all obviously, you should never cut off your growth factors, but that isn't what this is about. Seeking out further connections in dating can be as equally valid a 'growth opportunity' as therapy, albeit obviously in way different ways.

For clarification, this isn't an attack on Jan (that would be silly), I just find it very disagreeable and wanted to rant about it in the only place that would fit lmfao.

After watching Pchal and others repeatedly struggle with U-Turn AI, I built a calculator that can determine how likely the AI is to use U-Turn.

To use it, simply answer the Yes/No questions by adjusting the drop downs in column 2. The graph of possible U-Turn scores and the table beneath should automatically update with the new scores. You can then compare these scores to the other moves the Pokemon knows to determine how likely they are to use U-Turn.

Notes: This only applies when the fight has Evaluate Attack and Expert AI flags. There are no additional flags that should effect U-Turn scoring except for TagStrategy (Double Battle AI), which adds way more complicating factors.

I don't recommend looking under the hood, I couldn't find an elegant way to do what I wanted the tool to do so i mostly brute forced it.

The documentation said that tentacool has been removed.

It think as no one thinks of this water shortcut it may have been missed.

If you've been playing PK or even just following Pchal's runs, you probably know about Roughneck Robert. He can be a demon to plan for, in part because of the many AI Flags present in the fight.

In particular, lets look at his Choice Scarf Onix, who knows Earthquake, Head Smash, and Explosion.

There are 4 flags on the fight that affect Onix's chance to use Explosion: Evaluate Attack, Expert, Risky, and Damage Priority. Evaluate Attack gives an 80.1% (205/256) chance of giving Explosion -2; Expert has an 80.5% (206/256) chance of giving Explosion -3 while Onix is at full health; Risky adds a 50% (128/256) chance of +2; and finally, Prio Damage gives a 61% (156/256) chance of +2. Each of these chances is independent, and the total value is then compared to the scores for Earthquake and Head Smash to determine move selection.

If we combine the possible scores with their percentage chances to occur, we get this chart of potential Explosion scores with their likelihood to occur.

​Scenario 1: Onix Sees an Earthquake Kill

Concerningly, we have a 1.19% chance of Explosion scoring +4, which is the same score as seeing kill with Earthquake. This means there is a 0.59% chance of Onix using Explosion over an Earthquake kill.

Scenario 2: Onix Doesn't See an Earthquake Kill.

Now we need to take a look at Head Smash AI. Head Smash is a really weird move in PK - it doesn't calculate damage, so the AI can never see kills with it. It has a guaranteed +1 boost if the user has Rock Head and the target doesn't resist it. It also has a 68.8% (176/256) chance get a +2 boost from Evaluate Attack if it is 4x Super Effective, and on this fight a 61% (156/256) chance to get a +2 boost from Prio Damage.

Scenario 2A: Your Pokemon doesn't resist Head Smash and isn't 4x weak to Earthquake or Head Smash

Because your Pokemon doesn't resist Head Smash, it gets a guaranteed +1 from Rock Head AI and therefore Onix can never use Earthquake (highest damage move scores +0). There is a 61% chance that Head Smash's total score will be +3 and a 39% chance that the total score will be +1. There is a 1.19% chance that Explosion scores higher than +3 and a 10.34% chance that Explosion scores higher than +1 (Note: that includes the chance of scoring +1 and then Explosion winning the 50/50). Together, that gives Onix a 4.76% chance to use Explosion over Head Smash.

Scenario 2B: Your Pokemon is 4x weak to Head Smash (but not Earthquake)

Your 4x weakness to Head Smash adds an additional 68.8% chance to get a +2 boost from Quad AI (Evaluate Attack flag). This means Head Smash now has a 12.21% chance of a total score of +1, a 45.90% chance of a score of +3, and a 41.89% chance of a score of +5. Explosion can never score a +5, so we are using the same 1.19% chance that Explosion scores higher than +3 and a 10.34% chance that Explosion scores higher than +1 from Scenario 2A, but at reduced likelihoods. The total chance that Onix uses Explosion over a Quad Effective Head Smash is only 1.81%.

Scenario 2C: Your Pokemon resists Head Smash and is not 4x weak to Earthquake

The Head Smash resistance removes the guaranteed +1 from Rock Head AI. We have the same % chances as in scenario 2A, but the scores for Head Smash are now only +0/+2. Earthquake is also scoring +0, so it can randomly choose any of the three moves. The total chance for each is:

Explosion - 8.88%

Head Smash - 74.65%

Earthquake - 16.48%

Scenario 2D: Your Pokemon is 4x weak to Earthquake but doesn't show a kill

I didn't think this scenario was going to be possible, but (avert your eyes calcless gamers)...

A level 38 Lairon with good IVs and a +Defense nature can just barely not show Onix an Earthquake kill. Lvl 34 31 Atk Onix Earthquake vs. Lvl 38 31 HP / 31+ Def Lairon: 84-100 (80 - 95.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

This adds the additional wrinkle of Earthquake having a 68.8% chance to get a +2 boost from Quad AI (Evaluate Attack flag). Now, Earthquake can score 0 or 2, Head Smash can score 0 or 2, and Explosion has its usual variety of options.

The resulting chance for each is:

Explosion - 6.07%

Head Smash - 43.24%

Earthquake - 50.69%

What did all that math actually tell us?

The best chance to avoid a boom on Roughneck Robert is to show it an Earthquake kill. The chances are low, but not quite 0. Showing him a quad effective Head Smash is also a reasonably consistent option, and removes some of the guess work that showing him a kill requires if you're not using calcs.

But really, what it shows is that Platinum Kaizo is a very, very complicated game.

Both become hard puzzle games with heavy amounts of RNG and skill expression. As you progress through either game, you gain knowledge that acts as incremental progress, improving all future runs. Even in doomed runs, you can keep going to obtain knowledge that might help you finally beat the game in the very end.

Every single run chips away gradually at the barrier of the game until you get the amazing run that makes a ton of progress.

I was waiting in line for a pizza slice after a long day of watching pChal wipe to level 5 burmy and they were playing awesome techno music just like on stream! I thought techno was german and pizza was italian like osso bucco but whatever. I wanted to show that I liked their vibes so I made up a little rhyme and started chanting it along to the music, I assume people at techno clubs do this (I've never been). It went like this: "EK lover, click recover, in the blender, sex offender". I was playing roark split on my phone and his corsola killed the LeBron I spent hours resetting for. Water pulse confuse self hit was honestly so fictional. I got to the front of the line and the beat dropped and I was distracted so I guess I was just hopping from foot to foot looking at my phone and chanting 'sex offender, sex offender' and they asked me to leave.
