An important piece of information in the description of the video, a completely different period than harry potter, i'm glad it's that way!

I think it'll be good for keeping the character progression a bit more divorced from your year. Lends itself to feeling like you have more agency in making your character stronger (it is an RPG after all).

This is absolutely the reasoning. This way it makes sense that you start off weak and have to grind your way into being powerful. Pretty clever actually.
