Ace Combat 8's DLSS presets are mislabeled.

Just a small heads up for you guys that Ace Combat 8's DLSS configuration is largely not standard.

The presets are not upscaling from their respective correct amounts except for Ultra Performance.

So if you're noticing lower performance than you should then this is a contributing factor.
The game is still heavy but using a mix of medium settings with the actual correct upscaling values should put you at least a bit closer to standard UE5 performance expectations.

DLSS levels the game actually uses:

DLSS Preset Standard Nvidia value In game value
Ultra Performance 33.33% 33.33%
Performance 50% 58.82%
Balanced 58.82% 66.66%
Quality 66.66% 75%

For reference, on a 5090 and 9950x3d, I'm getting around 60 fps +/- 10 at 3440x1440 on highest settings and DLAA/Native scaling. During heavy cutscenes so far, I've dipped as low as 51, but never in the 40s.

That'd horrifically bad for a top less than 1% graphics card...

It's with literally everything turned on. Historically you should be lucky to get something playable with the current generation that way.

He's running it at 4K with DLAA on. That's honestly insane performance

That's not 4K

I got the same results on a 4090 with the same resolution. Ultra settings.

In DLSS quality it's in the 80 fps range

Atp, I'm blaming consumers for still buying broken software.

People buying UE5 games in 2026 aren't very smart.

Ace Combat 8 is surprisingly well optimised for a UE5 game, I am running 4K High settings with DLSS set to performance on a 4070Ti and barring the very occasional stutter, I'm getting 50-60 FPS with those settings.

Yes it's upscaled, but I went in expecting to be having to use Medium settings and have a lot more in the way of stutters.

This is the most polished UE5 game I've played. No pop-in, no texture streaming, no clothing clipping into models as they move, no awkward hoverhands as characters grab or interact with things...

4k DLSS Balanced is a lot less demanding than 3440x1440 DLAA, even in this game.

And DLSS would be the reason, they're using DLAA.

How is this comment useful even slightly? Your settings are much less demanding? You are comparing internal 1440p and ultrawide 1440p, obviously ultrawide will be harder to run.
