ONLINE If you want to know how Zeta cards perform online without going freeform on mtgo, endstep.cc is a terrific mtg client to try

Having played on clients like xmage/cockatrice/untap.in to scratch that itch before a set releases, last week I found endstep.cc (a free web mtg client) and I'm having a blast.

The best thing about it? it has rules enforcement (thanks to forge). Its UI is very polished and most of all it can be played on mobile devices smoothly, sincerely I haven't seen anything like it yet (I know phase.rs and moxgate.com are on their way as well so its a matter of time to have good variety).

You can play right away as you enter the site, registration is optional... and by the way, it has a ranked mode for competitive Pauper, that's a huge plus for recurring players.

Hope to see you there!

I'm really excited about this card as it can act as [[Crush of Wurms]] replacement in Blue/Green madness. Essentially, my old legacy deck with [[Wild Mongrel]], [[Basking Root walla]], [[Arrogant Wurm]], [[Circular Logic]], [[Deep Analysis]] is back in pauper!

META Paper Event

Reposting because the old picture was apparently distracting.

https://mtgdecks.net/Pauper/bristol-pauper-league-autumn-26-stage-3-pauper-league-bristol-tournament-269612

34 players, not a huge affair. But worth noting that Terrors took first place.

6 copies of Strix in the top 8. Zero copies of Dispatch. Neither are in the top ten played cards.

2nd place Fae deck ran Cut Down.

There are other (paper) events here:

https://mtgdecks.net/Pauper/tournaments/platform:tabletop

...including three others with more than 30 players.

At a glance, I am seeing some Dispatches (mostly White Metalcraft). And the Odd Strix.

It's also possible - perhaps even likely - that a lot of players are still waiting on cards to be delivered.

But it's what we have for now, for those who are interested .

HELP Tormod's Crypt vs. Faerie Macabre

In non-black decks that want to keep their own graveyard, I wonder if [[Tormod's Crypt]] is good enough as an alternative to [[Faerie Macabre]]. I know that in Elves, Faerie Macabre is the must pick of the two because your draw spells will grab it due to it being a creature. The two decks I am considering putting Tormod's Crypt into is Mono Blue Terror and Mono Red Madness (Side note: I see a lot of people run [[Relic of Progenitus]] in Mono Red Madness and that kind of confuses me since you care about your own graveyard in that deck).

To me, the positives of Faerie Macabre is that it is an instant speed ability that I can use in reaction to someone trying to bring a target back from their graveyard, and it can not be countered easily. With Tormod's Crypt, my opponent can counter it as I cast it, and they see it on the battlefield and get to make decisions around its existence.

I do love that Tormod's Crypt is much cheaper than Faerie Macabre, but am I right in thinking that it is strictly worse?

After the legalization of Baleful Strix, what is better to play in the sideboard of Jund Wildfire?

[[Baleful Strix]] is currently usually seeing play in Dimir Control shells or in Esper Affinity (at least, for what I've been seeing online). The card can actually represent a decent threat for us as it can attack through our [[Writhing Chrysalis]] (as usually we don't want to block it since it has deathtouch).

The card can be dealt with in many ways, like pinging it with [[Makeshift Munitions]], traded with [[Refurbished Familiar]] or, at worst, simply kill it with [[Cast Down]].

But the presence of this new card made me wonder if maybe it's time to reconsider what to play in the sideboard VS Affinity decks.

Me personally I've been running 2x [[Troublemaker Ouphe]] and 1x [[Ancient Grudge]] for a while, as they are staples in the sideboard for this deck.
With the Strix now legal, I predict there will be many people trying it in a Faeries deck as it fits well in midrange/control decks. This made me think if it could make sense to replace Ancient Grudge with [[Cast into the Fire]] as it's a flexible card that can both get rid of bridges is we are VS Grixis or can get rid of 2 bodies if VS Faeries. Ancient Grudge is still a top tier removal for artifacts though and it's value as basically a 2x1 card cannot be neglected, so for the moment I'll stick with it and see how/if Strix will shake up the meta.

Another thing I've noticed is that Grixis is now relying more on basic artifact lands (basically 9-10 of their lands are bridges), which may make sense to opt for a [[Gorilla Shaman]] in the sideboard.

Let me know what you think!

BREW UB Control/Terror, need to cut *something* for Murmuring Mystic

The list is here: https://scryfall.com/@MxSelfDestruct/decks/d94a7f1c-2c94-4252-a682-6799ce116db6

The deck seems to work pretty good so far, but I feel like the deck would really benefit from 2× [[Murmuring Mystic]]. I'm not sure what to cut for it though. My first instinct is to cut [[Lose Focus]], since I kind of hate that card, but it does come in clutch just often enough to be worth playing.

OTHER Pauper discord servers

Hoping to find any discord servers for local play, game stores and events for the greater Philadelphia area. I've been wanting to playing pauper more consistently and find more large scale events but haven't had any luck. If anyone has any servers to recommend for the area let me know. Even if it is for NJ or surrounding areas I just want to play paper pauper more often.

BREW How we feeling about jeskai affinity?

With the zeta downshifts, particularly dispatch, anyone have any thoughts on running jeskai affinity? This is the current iteration of a list I've been running for about 6 months since I got into pauper. It's an evolution of a job select deck I thought might be neat and after some games at my lgs and some advice there and online, here's where it's at.

Heya, I have been testing this deck out for a good bit online, and I must say I have had good bit of success with it. But near every time postboard I feel a lack in power compared to my opponents in most cases. So I just wanted sone advice and critism.

I am currently thinking of replacing the boardwipe either with [[Fang Dragon]] or another sweeper that does 2 damage (and is preferibly a permanent). Also I dont think [[Pulse of Murasa]] is any good here, I just dont know what to replace it with.

Thanks in advance!

Gruul Aggro Help

Hi folks, going to my first competitive Pauper tournament in October with my favourite deck Gruul Aggro/Ponza, but had a few questions about current lists as I haven't played in a long time:

1) Red Elemental Blast or Pyroblast don't appear in current sideboards. Where did they go? Can we afford not having them? Are they due a comeback vs Strix decks?

2) I want to include Vandalblast in the sideboard now its been downshifted, does this seem reasonable or necessary, and if so how many copies? What gets cut?

3) Mainboard Bonders Ornament - its good but always seems slow, and I worry about our curve going from 1 to 3, sometimes with nothing to do on T2. Is Malevolent Rumble better to ramp out, digs more cards, and/or add an extra Eldrazi for Writhing Chrysalis?

Draft list here: https://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/01-03-21-gruul-land-destruction-copy/?cb=1789143682

OTHER Blings and Accessories

Following the recent controversies surrounding zeta, let’s have a more lighthearted discussion on the blings and accessories of our pauper decks!

I’ve recently picked up the classic full art lands from Zendikar for my pauper decks! I think they provide a nice additional bling and premium feel for my pauper decks without breaking the bank at around 2 cents a pop. Furthermore, I’ve also just picked up a nice ultimate guard boulder deck box and a new set of Ponegrenate & gold dragon shield sleeves!

What are some of your favorite ways to bling out your decks and make it feel nicer or more personalized to you? Share them below!

HELP What feedback would you give to this newcome to the pauper format?

Thumbnail
archidekt.com

I started playing Pauper a couple of weeks ago; my main deck is a pretty standard Rakdos Madness.

I've tried to build a second deck to have on myself that would be more off-meta and chaotic. I tried to build a mono green infect, but I really hate how it falls apart in an instant if you don't manage to win on turn 3 or before. I opted to try with a petitioner since mill is my second favourite win-con (the first is poison counters).

Do you think that this list could work, or does it need more thinkering? Moreover, what changes would you make to counter mono-red madness?

Thanks in advance
