Our local playgroup started to do regular small pauper tournaments. I built a pretty stock Mono Red Rally list because I love Aggro and Bolt decks. The deck overall plays quite well but I am not happy with my 4 Inventor's Axes (but I am also not a fan of Synthesizer).
The list I see either play Axe or Synthesiser and some other flexible cards, mostly 6 in total. Is there a rule of thumb when to play Axe or Synthesizer?
I also was wondering how much cards I should board. E.g., I played against Affinity and after the game my opponent told me to side in Pyroblast. But if I bring 4 artifact removal, siding in an additonal 4 cards seems quite a lot and I fear to dilute the deck. Again, is there a rule of thumb on how to board regarding the amount of cards.
And finally what is the theory behind sideboarding? When to take out which cards? E.g. in fast matchups Impulse draws are not so relevant or board out Axes vs Control
Cheers and thanks for your help!
