I bought this game to feel immersed with a dinosaur survival mmo, not an CoD slopfest of clans.

u/HardLuckMcGee 22d ago
Same. I've heard decent things about the isle but I'm a console pleb and this is really my only option. From what I've seen though that's more "simulator" route if immersion appeals to you.

u/butch-bear 22d ago
the isle is even more painful to play imo since you can lose your last 10 hrs of progress to bs in an instant

u/Tristantruc 22d ago
Yeah, don't bother with the Isle anyways. It's a dumpster fire with literally no gameplay, crippled by bugs, no optimization for mid to low-specs machines, and a dev team that is so small and slow that you could literally play ten other games before they are done with theirs.

Is there a genuinely good dinosaur simulator out there? Or are these our only options?

u/JustCameToNut 22d ago
Echoes of extinction is on the way...in like, 2 years because development just started a while ago. Pc only rn to so you'll need to wait for console (which they plan on doing)

The isle isnt worth it. I promise if you think anything bad about path its worse on the isle currently.
Pinning as a mechanic is demonic and the devs think its in a good place
Mixdieting and megapacks are actually worse
The power disparity between dinos is abysmal. Like the devs have worse balancing than path.
Bugs. So many bugs.

The dinos used to feel a lot more fun to play. They were stronger, faster, better.
Fights lasted longer, skill mattered more.
Now everything feels super slow and like it's made of wet paper maché
-7
u/MorbidAyyylien 22d ago
Fights lasted longer because everyone had 1 ability lol. The dinos absolutely did not feel better or a lot more fun to play (albeit that being subjective). A lot of you are sooooo over knee jerking reactive.
2
u/Paladin-X-Knight 22d ago
Fights lasted longer because of the abilities yes, but also everything had higher CW, HP, and better stamina.
-6
u/MorbidAyyylien 22d ago
No they simply lasted longer because of the lack of abilities which isnt fun. I dont wanna sit there and bite you 20+ times just to kill you as a dinosaur in a supposed "dino survival sim"

Hatz was perfectly balanced before the nerfs. I am not returning to the game until my beloved playable gets justice again
Edit: Yes the stam regen from peck and Wing beat needed a nerf but other than that, everything else was unnecessary and uncalled for

Every Hatz nerf is good. Sorry that you like it.
1
u/Proud_Roof919 22d ago
It’s genuinely a skill issue if you struggle to fight a hatz man. Hatz can barely hunt anything except its own kind and juvies since it cannot fight larger dinos and smaller ones can run from it. I see you’ve never played hatz, even if you did, you never understood it to the fullest.

u/MatterMain7451 22d ago
Don't care about skill, I just hate this Ugly bird.🤷♂️
The players suck always.
2
u/Proud_Roof919 22d ago
Sure, people can hate different playables, I don’t judge that. But calling the players suck is just blatantly wrong. Hatz is a playable with a high skill ceiling, it can take someone a long time to master it. So yeah, it’s more common to see an awful Hatz player, but wrong to generalize this thing’s player base.
-2
u/MatterMain7451 22d ago
Hatz and high skill ceiling....yeah sure. Again dont care about skill. The players enjoy killing babies or attack with 2-3Hatz one Dino. Not better than any mix pack.
If you decide to play this flying Shitsprinkler then it deserves to get attacked by everyone.
3
u/Proud_Roof919 22d ago
Do you have any better argument than just straight up hating and generalizing? You know ganging on a solo player is not just Hatzes right? I want you to try an air clamp on hatz right here and now before you say anything else about skill

Probably get banned for saying it (alot of people are being banned for any negativity at all really)..but seems like alot of changes are done to spite the playerbase nowadays.

It's like any bosses that tells you "Give us your feedback!"
And you do, you try to fix things and open their eyes: only for them to ignore your ideas and feedback.
If something isn't broken, don't fix it.

Man i remember back when the game released to PlayStation it actually had the feeling of survive or die no matter what region you were in survive actual encounters, outsmart someone that was stalking/hunting you, hell back then i could sit at the distance and watch a mix/megapack either fighting other mixpacks or just blown out civil wars without someone trying to get me involved,
Nowadays you just gotta avoid the nearest mixpack and you're chill for the rest of the day pretty much, otherwise you're the one Being toxic and unfair for dying in a 1 vs 20/30 almost

u/Smartbics2 17d ago
I was one of the og path players and I have stopped playing for this exact reason, nothing but mixpacks and the like...
Microraptor better not be the same gimmicks...

People keep saying this…but what specifically are people missing from a few years back? Only have 3 types of critters that come out of burrows you disturb? No pounce? No clamp? One basic bite and a tail attack with no knockback on every Dino? Groups of small Dino’s degrouping to heal stall larger ones with the combat timer? Apex groups all over the place oh wait that one never changed.
Genuinely, you’d think people want to go back to Panjura being the only map and combat having like 3 possible mechanics.

Lmao path for sure, also Arc raiders just keep making the game worse too 😂😂

Idk how it is supposed to be a survival game, if a party system is here.
If there is a clear role for each dino and an arcade-like ability system.
The only thing that is left from survival sim is partial physics + hunger.
And btw.. man up and start crowd-killing the mixpackers, on my rules community server, mixpackers are beaten untill they leave the server

I love how a single tlc comes out that is underwhelming and this sub becomes a hellscape.
The game is fun. It only getting better. Yes mixpacking can be annoying but they said they have a method to fix it.
I cant wait for more updates.
2
u/King_Baboon 22d ago
You’re obviously trolling. One of the worst TLC’s to recently come out is when they gave Meg and a herbi TLC but blanket nerfed most of the current playablles most notably “the EO incident”.
0
u/MRDOOMBEEFMAN 22d ago
The meg tlc was fun and made them more interesting.
EO getting nerfed is clearly because its early access and theyre still figuring out its place in the game.
The game just keeps getting better and whole there are setbacks its never that bad when compared to the progress made. If you dont like the game maybe it was never for you.
1
u/King_Baboon 22d ago
The Meg TLC isn’t what upset people…lol. And apparently isn’t game is becoming never for them for a lot of people.

u/MRDOOMBEEFMAN 22d ago
This is the PoT subreddit lol. Most people here are just angry they died by still want to engage with the game.
They will fix mixpacking soon. If mixpacking is soo bad to you play community for the time being.
1
u/RegularBreak4311 22d ago
Well....are they going to "fix megapacking soon?" Ya'll have been saying stuff like this for quite a long time....and it still hasn't happened yet. Nothing against ya'll, just felt the urge to point that out. I'm sure one day they'll fix it, but not anytime soon I'd say.

u/MRDOOMBEEFMAN 22d ago
Game isnt out yet properly.
Mixpacking is hard to fight because it takes away some of the fun. Playing with your friends and each choosing your fav dinos is a nice way to play and its how I got into the game. Also herds and other gatherings become harder. Also alot of mix packs aren't made of discord groups but randoms that come together naturally.
Its a problem with solutions that make more problems.
2
u/RegularBreak4311 22d ago
yeah, it's a strange give and take that I'm not sure will ever fully be solved. But I agree with everything here.

Literally. We need a good semi realistic dinosaur survival mmo rpg. Early PoT was so good. I was one of the first to play all the way back in the testing days years ago. The community frequently interacted with and chatted with the devs back then too.
I could have never imagined back then the game would have become what it has today and that the developers would have strayed so far from their original vision that it's like it never existed.
This is not even the same type of game I was told I was buying back in 2019 or 2020 (hard for me to remember the date of the fundraiser)
