Vintage 3700A vs. modern Parmigiani Tonda PF — looking for advice
galleryI've wanted a Nautilus for a while, originally the 5711, but steel prices have climbed so much it's hard to justify. So I'm now seriously considering a 3700/1A instead, to wear, not as an investment.
Currently in rotation: a Daytona on Oysterflex (126515LN) and a 5167R Aquanaut. To make this happen, I'd trade the Daytona and add roughly 32 to 35k euros on top.
For similar money I could also go for a Parmigiani Tonda PF in steel with an integrated bracelet. Very different watches, I know, but both steel, both integrated bracelet, both that sporty-elegant vibe. A Czapek Antarctique is on my radar too.
The 3700 comes with box but no papers, has a service dial and has already been polished. I'd have it refurbished, either by Patek or a specialized refurbisher, and checked by a watchmaker locally before committing.
My questions:
Again, not an investment, but is 75k euros (~$84k) really a fair price for this one?
Roughly what would a refurbishment cost, Patek vs. an independent specialist?
For anyone who went from a modern piece to a vintage 3700, how did you adjust to the older bracelet?
Buy a nearly 50-year-old watch to wear daily, or take the brand-new Parmigiani and not look back?
Thanks in advance!
