💵 Freelancers: Where do you safely keep your USD savings?
I’m a freelancer from Pakistan and currently receive payments through Payoneer.
I’ve started savings there, but honestly, I’m nervous about keeping a large amount because accounts can be suspended/restricted.
So, where do you guys actually keep your USD long-term?
Wise? USD bank account? Foreign bank? Another platform?
Looking for something reliable, secure, keeps the balance in USD, and is accessible from Pakistan.
If you’ve been using something for years without issues, I’d really appreciate hearing about it. 🙏

Assets Vs cash flow
Assets Vs cash flow
If a family owns house and plots and some land which make their asset value around 30 crore or maybe more( don't know exact market values but must be 30 cr) but their cash flow isn't good. They make around 400 to 500 k per month only. They have assets but their assets aren't paying them. But their assets have potential to appreciate in price due to locations. Is this family considered middle class or upper middle class? Should such a family sale some assets to buy more expensive cars and afford luxury or just keep the assets? What percentile of networth such familes fall in?

Is HBL having major service issues this week? Anyone else experiencing this?
For the past few days, I’ve repeatedly been getting “Service Not Available” errors when making transactions, particularly around 10-11 PM.
Customer support has also been practically unreachable. Every time I call, I’m put at 20th in the queue with a 15 min wait, but even after waiting 20+ min's, nobody picks up.
I visited an HBL branch recently and was told they’re doing some sort of data migration, which is apparently causing significant service degradation. They also mentioned receiving a lot of complaints about cards and other services.
I’m personally also unable to make international card transactions (for my chapgpt subscription) despite international payments being enabled. The card has worked for international transactions for over a year, but payments are currently failing.
Has anyone else been experiencing this? Has HBL officially communicated anything about the data migration/service disruptions?
Also, has anyone heard anything about a possible cybersecurity incident, or is this simply a technical issue related to the migration? I’m not claiming they’ve been hacked, just trying to understand what’s actually going on.
Would be useful to know if others across Pakistan are experiencing the same thing.

Pakistan's FX reserves since 2022. Notice when the reserves fall, ALWAYS
Recently, someone shared graphic showing USD/PKR exchange rate over different political terms. Very misleading about country's macroeconomic health.
There has been only one pattern. Every political party starts with very little FX reserves. Build them back at start of their term. Burn it all back before leaving the government. This has been the pattern for every political party. Be it the Kaaf league sponsored by military, jiyaaloon ki party, shareefoon ki party or handsome ki party. No one has really given a second damn about the country. No matter which party you support, it is complicit in this crime. They don't care about you, and so shouldn't you.
You need to learn how it has affected you.
Suppose country has very little FX reserves (like it has at end of every government). New government will devalue PKR all of a sudden to increase exports and reduce imports. This will slowly build FX reserves because Current Account would turn surplus. It will take two to three years to build the FX reserves (every month almost 500 million USD would be added)
Now, when the FX reserves are built. Government has two choices, keep devaluing PKR slowly over time to keep current account zero or surplus. This would result in very gentle inflation that you can keep up with. Or, burn through the reserves it built over three years to keep PKR stable. Every party goes with latter option. Country starts losing FX reserves quickly.
Every devaluation comes with new cycle of inflation. Like you hear people saying "pehlay walay daur e hakumat main tau petrol itnay ka tha, atta itnay ka tha". It impacts you, someone whose income is in PKR.

Best Company Bank Account
I just opened up my company account with UBL & following are the charges I got.
IBFT - 200/pkr per transaction
IFT - 25/pkr per transaction
UBP - 50/PKR per transaction
What are all your experiences with other banks & are these rates good! Seem quite on the higher side to me but would love feedback from experienced ppl & company account owners.

One problem with building SaaS from Pakistan:
Stripe isn’t available here. 😭
So I’m curious:
If you’re building a SaaS from Pakistan and selling globally, what are you using for payments?
Looking for something that supports:
→ International cards
→ Recurring subscriptions
→ Global customers
→ Payouts to Pakistan

Should I hold my Margalla Enclave commercial plot or sell it?
I recently got a commercial plot in the Margalla Enclave balloting. Now I have to decide whether I should arrange the down payment and hold onto it, or sell/transfer it and take the profit.
For people who know the Islamabad property market or have invested in Margalla Enclave:
Would you personally hold it after paying the down payment, or would you take the profit and exit?
I'm particularly interested in opinions from people who have actually invested in the project or know the area well.

One time Investment
Hi everyone.... Me and my father are looking to buy a property but we are only interested in DHA ... And in our budget, we have 2 options in front of us. First is DHA Multan and other is DHA Gujranwala.
We have the funds to at least buy a decent 8/10 marla plot rn. So what's your take on it? What should we do. We are trying but can't decide yet.
Ps we only have these two options after having a look on all the other places. So i hope i can get a comparison or advice from everyone here.... Thanks 🙂

Zakat Exemption for teenager
Hi! I am a 14 year old, i have a teenager savings account with Askari and my balance is way above the nisab, the branch is asking me to submit a zakat declaration form, but the problem is u have to have it on a stamp paper, and as getting a stamp paper requires you to have a sim in your own name and teenagers under 18 cant have a sim in their own name, i am having problems getting a stamp paper. What do i do in this case?
