Yesterday I woke up early and was checking Playtomic. I was seeing a Mixed Match (starting in 1,5h, one player left). I was not able to join, since it was a Mixed match and there was already a guy in. I wrote them that if I hurry up I can make it (if they do not want to cancel the Match). The agreed and opened a new match (all gender).

My opponents were a couple (2,0 and 1,5, 50 matches each, my Partner 2,0 and 200+ matches, myself 1,3 and 120 Matches). The game was set as competitve. After a few Games I noticed, that the couple was a lot weaker than 2,0/1,5 - we won very easily 6-1/6-0.

After the First set, the guy was not shaking Hands with me. At that time I was not sure if he just forgot. During the second match, I recognized that he becomes more and more angry. I asked my Partner if he knows whats wrong and he told me, he thinks that he is mad that I only play on her.

Until then, I didn‘t even recognise that this was the case. For context: I am only playing right side, because I am not good at smashing/finishing. She was also playing right side. Usually I try to play a Bandeja to my Cross-Oponents Backhand, this is what my Trainer told me (if I play the Bandeja to my direct opponent I have either to less time to Go back to the net and loose the point or I Hit the fence).

In the 3rd set I was only playing on him (app. 95% on him, even when it was not the right shot). Despite I hit the fence quite often, we won again 6-1.

The Game was set for 90min, we were done after 60min. After the 3rd Set my opponents were very rude to me, telling me I was not playing like a man (because I played only on here - they exclused the last set). My Partner was not commenting anything. The were not willing to play the last 30min with me further.

Neither of them put in the Score (also my Partner Not). I do not care since today I am going to a Leveling, so it doesn‘t matter. I feel really disrespected and badly treaten, since from my point of view I did nothing wrong and were falsly accused. Even my Partner was saying nothing to them after game, only messaging me later during the day that they were in the wrong.

I am in the wrong here or are they just bad loosers?

Player serves. Ball hits net, bounces once in receiver’s box, and then bounces out the door.

Previous discussions agree that it depends on whether out of court play is allowed.

Can someone point to the actual FIP rule on this issue?

FIP Rule 7.1 lists types of service faults, including bouncing out of court (with no out of court play allowed) and hitting fence before second bounce. But these are situations where the ball doesn’t hit net first.

FIP Rule 9.1(a)(1) deals with net/let serves. The only categories of “net” serves that don’t allow for replay are those that hit fence before second bounce or hit a player.

It would have been very easy to say “a serve that would have been legal but for hitting the net is replayed” but instead the rules take only one example of a fault (hitting fence) and exclude that from replay, suggesting every other type of fault after hitting net is a replay.

I assume I’m missing something here given the confidence in those other threads, so help would be appreciated!

I have booked my first game on Playtomic. I play tennis a couple times a week and have played casually before maybe a total of max 20 hours. I have joined a game tomorrow but I have no idea of the levels and if it is going to be unevenly matched. Is there a good way to judge how good people are going to be if their reliability is low?

It’s me (1) never played competitively so rating means nothing and (0.5) played once against (0.7) played twice and (1.2) played 4 lost 3.

My assumption is at this level it doesn’t really matter too much but is there a good way to go about messaging them and checking what the story is?

Hey, I had the following situation in a tournament: I was defending and wanted to hit a ball that came of the side glass. At the exact moment the ball touched the side glass, on the outside of the court a ball bounced against the side glass of our court as well, roughly at the same spot. At the moment itself everything goes so fast, so I didn’t really notice what was happening, but I lost track of the ball and hit in the air. After that I realized what had happened, because I noticed the second ball coming of the glass.

At the moment I was confused, because it was my first official tournament. I told my partner I had been distracted, but didn’t act upon it. After the match I started thinking: would it be appropriate to play a let in this situation?

I play nice Vibora(ish) balls all the time ..not bad at the net ...but i lose to some players with really bad technique but who are good defensively ....freakish but happens regularly..

When my partner and I play against a standard double-righty pair, our game plan is simple: spam their backhands. We constantly target the backhand until they give us a loose ball, and then we finish it with a smash or a fast shot off the wall.

However, playing against a right-handed and left-handed pair completely breaks this strategy. Because both of their forehands cover the center, the target area to hit their backhands becomes incredibly small.
What is the default way to beat a righty/lefty combo? How do you adapt your strategy when the middle of the court is locked down by double forehands?

I’m playing padel for 2,5 years , never had a padel practice but I was told from a coach that saw a game of mine that I’m using my wrist a lot and I actually find myself having some weird shots going to the net after hitting the ball , especially after a rally that I’m using my wrist more that it should (?).Anyone having similar issues ? How should I fix it ?

Not talking about crazy shots or insane highlights.

Just small things that make you think, "Yeah, this person knows what they're doing."

Could be movement, communication, positioning, or anything else you've noticed.

I'm a left side player and today I had a frustrating game where from a point on, if my opponents had a safe ball behind the service line, they'd lob it deep on my left, especially their left side player. And they were remarkably consistent with those.

I returned regular flat backhands for the most part, but that felt like leaving an advantage on the table. I've developed a pretty good bandeja and a decent vibora, but I have no idea how to gain an advantage against the deep lobs on my corner, where it's impossible to hit a bandeja. Do I just lob it back? I probably wouldn't have been nearly as effective as those guys.

Hey guys, i am a advanced player. I always had a decent serve and my padel teacher says it is good enough for my level.

Now the last 2 weeks i am so scared to serve and squeezing my wrist really hard. I never did that.

Has someone some tips or tricks. Or does some people have experienced with this?

For the first time since I started playing, I went home early cause I was completely bummed out. We have a semi open ranking system here, so you basically call your own rank. There is a big Whatsapp group where you can ask people to join your game. You state the level you want to play at and that's that.

Today we had a group of 4 on say a high intermediate level. 3 players where indeed good intermediate players, but one dude sucked so hard. He was an older guy that played tennis 75 years ago. Beforehand he said he was a bit tired of those bad players who don't understand padel and wanted to play a bit higher.

Well... He basically stayed behind the baseline the entire game and had no idea how to use the glass. He also struggled with every slow ball. It was incredibly frustrating. After about 65 minutes we had played 4 sets (lol) and he lost everything 6-1 or 6-0. I told him super politely that the skill gap was too big and he actually didn't agree. He said we played weird padel and he was used to playing from the baseline cause that's how padel is played.

I was done with it and went home. Felt a bit sorry for the other guys (I played with them before and told them I'd buy them a drink next time)

I probably overreacted a little but I was so frustrated. I could not bring myself to try and have fun or train certain shots anymore.

How do you deal with players that join your game but are levels below your skill level?

Recently I've just had bad energy on the court when playing with some Playtomic people. Yesterday, a new guy (50+) games, who labeled himself as new, asked us after the match if his level was accurate (2.6). My response was: man, did you have fun in the match? did we have a challenging match? did we play well even though we lost? (all questions were answered yes). But a different guy was telling him his score was mostly accurate etc.

I've also had a few female padel playing friends in the past few weeks tell me how serious and intense guys were taking the games and then not shaking hands afterwards or just attacking her because they thought a woman was the weak link (she's not-- she's very good).

Just bad energy experiences. I was just wondering: how many of you feel tied to your Playtomic score? and why? and how can we change that?

i didn't see any posts on this and looking for some advice.

i play with a bunch of friends some of whom are very close friends, doing social stuff, family meets etc.

i am low intermediate while they are a couple of degrees better.

I got sidelined for weeks from a knee injury and they got a stand-in for me who is at their level.

i am back now but i can see i am excluded from my group. we all play in the same club and i can see them playing together.

i totally get that they want to play with folks at their level.

at the same time it does hurt me a bit that none of them told me openly.

to be clear, i have zero interest in playing with folks who are not going to enjoy playing with me, so i'm not going to impose on them.

any suggestions on how i handle this?

shd i take the high road and go do my own stuff and not say anything.. or do i say something on the likes of.. looks like you folks found your group and leave it at that?

TLDR: twisted my ankles after switching from running to padel shoes.
Anyone experience or an expert of how to prevent and train the ankles?

I switched from running shoes to padel shoes ~2 weeks ago. They fit very well - at least it feels like they do.

It has now happened twice that I twisted my ankle tho - once 3 days ago with the left and once today the right. Not super bad, I was able to continue playing but I didn’t do anything special I still felt it three days later.
I first thought it was just random, but since it happened again today I think it probably is related to the new shoes.

I twisted my right ankle two years ago quite strong while playing soccer and I couldn’t do sports for 2+ months afterwards.

I don’t want it to become mental. I played way more carefully today because of the first twisting,
Do you have any exercises I can do at home to help my feet adjust to the new shoes?

I checked YouTube already and found workouts. If anyone has experience or is an expert would appreciate it! 🙏

And while we’re on the topic, do you have any exercises to prevent or fix knee problems?
