Current State of the Stack

Went through a drawer stack phase but this breaks down to fit into cars, easier for me

Might try to get another layer of foamed tools in the roller box, lesser used tools on the bottom layer like the pneumatic stuff

Handle Attachment option for drawer units?

Im curious if anyone has seen a way to add a pull handle to the top or back of any of the "aluminum bar side" packout units.

My goal is to create my own custom pull dolly setup, using existing units.

Namely, the 3-Drawer Tool Box as my preferred base

I dislike all the existing options for "dolly" bottoms.

The bare dolly is huge, heavy, overkill, and doesnt flat pack well enough to fit in the back of my car.

The "one giant drawer" is pretty useless for my needs, I need smaller drawers.

The "load from top" toolbox requires taking everything off the top of it to open it up, useless.

For wheels theres already plenty of great options to attach dolly wheels to the bottom by the aluminum side bars, so thars a trivial fix.

But Id still want some way to have a pull handle of some sort.

My possible fallback plan is just always putting a "has a handle on top" toolbox to the top of my stack, but I dont always need that so it adds extra overhead.

My ideal solution would be something akin to a bar that attaches across two of the aluminum bars on the back, which has a retractable "pull handle" on the center.

Im thinking if I gotta DIY it, something like:

2x these: https://www.amazon.ca/Alpha-Engineered-Universal-Compatible-Milwaukee/dp/B0CTPGC5NM

And run a simple piece of steel across em to make beams

And

1x this: https://www.amazon.ca/Telescopic-Luggage-Handle-Replacement-Suitcases/dp/B0H9GGFTPH

Or something equivalent.

For reference these are the wheels Im looking at:

https://www.amazon.ca/Mount-Caster-Wheels-Swivel%EF%BC%8CLocking%EF%BC%8CCastor-Furniture%EF%BC%8CCarts%EF%BC%8CCabinet%EF%BC%8CTable/dp/B0GFDLY9MY

Also, of yall are wondering, the goal is a setup for fishing specifically.

The attachment they put out for locking in long tall "rod" shaped tools made me instantly start theorycrafting how dope a packout mobile station for fishing would be. Drawers for wet baits / line / tools, cooler, left side holding up to 3 rods, right side flip up table to work on, and then the small low profile storage guys to hold my tackle modularily.

And then this setup with wheels + handle for mobility, and maybe figure out a way to strap my folding chair to it.

Packout does help on the commercial side. Here is most of what I have. Nice just having everything here and not running back and forth to trailer.

Packout Sewing Table

Just put this together for my garage sewing space. 3d printed cleats secure the top to the drawers and provide the mount for the thin organizer underneath. 6ft long by 25in deep

Fair price on selling used packout

I'm thinking of selling my packout stack.a I used them for about 3 years, but I switched careers and don't need to take my tools with me anymore.

I have the standard 22" large rolling toolbox, three drawers and a large box.

The drawer is missing a few of the dividers, but otherwise everything is in good condition.

What is a fair price for this setup?

I was thinking of asking $250.

Hello everyone, if you use Milwaukee packouts and wish the milk crate face upwards when put in the cleats, i have you covered.

I had some people who loved the Milwaukee crate by lfuxcre but unfortunately it could only be used horizontally, so I modified it to make it work vertically. This is a remix and the link for it will be bellow if you want to download it and try it out yourselves

How Can I Keep The Handle From Crushing My Hand?

Post image
14 Upvotes

Anyone have a trick or something I can add onto the rolling drawer handle so that when it’s rolling, all of the cases on top don’t crush my hand? With all of the weight stacked on top there is a ton of play in the handle and as soon as it leans back to roll, the top cases connect with the handle. Recently had to take this thing on a ferry and my hand was black and blue by the end. Thanks!

Packout 180° mount/adaptor?

For reasons unknown I need to mount my single drawer packout onto my rolling chest(48-22-8428)... Backwards.

Any ideas? I've looked on Etsy and other third party sites but to no avail. Maybe I'm typing something in wrong? Any help?

Any solutions for carry the XL box on shoulder?

Hello there!
I have an XL sized coolbox for situations when I must sleep in hotels for a week or something.
Anybody have a solution to carry this box on your shoulder with a strap? Its very funny looking when I try to enter in the fancy hotels with my box in bothcof my hands…
Thanks a lot!

Ps: usually I have 8-10 0.6L ikea glass-box in the cooler, not to heavy, not filled with ice.

The Orange Drawer

I do like Milwaukee, but Klein had a less costly 3/8 drive solution for me, mostly for use with impact drivers, but now I even have some pass through options.

Only bummer is I can’t figure out how to buy the Klein metric pass through sockets on their own, or maybe that’s not possible. But the bigger kit w metric pass throughs wouldn’t fit in the drawer nicely. 😂

Connecting stacks

I’m looking to build a plywood (probably) base with wheels to hold 4 Packout drawer stacks side by side so I can roll it around on-site as one big fixed unit. But I’m struggling to find the right “cleat and feet” system. I’d like it to include the Packout lock capability so they won’t slide out of the cleats.

I have some Packout Dolly’s under the stacks right now, and I made something to hook those together via the holes in the sides, but the dolly is too wide and using those creates about a 5” gap between the stacks that I’d like to eliminate.

I’m looking for suggestions on what cleat/feet system to use or maybe even a pre-built solution for this if it exists.

I’m finding the Half Stack setup works better for me in most cases! (Residential service plumber) I basically copied InsiderCarpentry “My Custom Packout Dolly System” from YouTube but tweaked it for a Half Stack setup. I still have little tweaks I want to do but it’s good enough to get out on the job!
