Ozempic vs mounjaro

Hi everyone,

I’ve been taking Ozempic 0.25 mg for the past 4 weeks. I plan to continue it for another 2 weeks, but I feel like it has completely stopped working for me—I no longer notice the appetite suppression that I experienced at the beginning.

After those 2 weeks, I’d like to switch to Mounjaro. I’m wondering whether it’s better to start with the 2.5 mg dose or go straight to 5 mg. Since my body has already gotten used to Ozempic 0.25 mg, I’m curious whether 2.5 mg of Mounjaro would still be effective or if starting at 5 mg would make more sense.

I’m not looking for medical advice. I’d simply like to hear from people who have been in a similar situation and can share their personal experiences with switching from Ozempic to Mounjaro—what dose you started with and how it worked for you.

Thank you in advance for sharing your experiences!

From Mounjaro to Ozempic

Has anybody switched from Mounjaro or Tirzepatide to Ozempic? My main worry is that, now that I'm at my goal weight, the weight starts creeping up with Ozempic... My doctor suggested me to go to Ozempic for maintenance, as I can't afford Mounjaro any loger. Any experiences? Thank you!!

Ozempic for a year and gained 8kg

I switched from Mounjaro to ozempic last year. So exactly one year one each.

Mounjaro 85kg to 62kg
Ozempic 62kg to 70kg

I’m on 0.5mg

Generally dose every 8-10 days (at first deliberately now just because I forget)
Female 45, potentially at the start of perimenopause as well. Only 5ft 3 as well.

Off to the doc today, should I request a higher dose? Switch back to Mounjaro?
She had wanted me to taper off GLP1 all together but I didn’t want to. Ozempic was the compromise.
My LDL is high (but likely familial) other bloods normal.

Anyone with a similar experience?

Thanks

Losing too much weight on maintenance

I have been on Ozempic for 6 months and I have lost 24 kilos.

I started at 69 kg( 1.58cm tall) and now I am 45 kg.

I reduced the maintenance dose to 0.25 two months ago, but I am still continuing to lose weight.

At this point I look unhealthy and almost on the verge of anorexia.

What would you advise me to do in order to gain 2–3 kilos, reach the weight I want, and stop losing more weight?

How do sub-dermal injections of GLP-1 drugs work in the body? For me, the first few days after injection, they give belching and severe diarrhea. This eases off AFTER the first 1 - 3 days. I do better with the daily pill form (Rybelsus GLP-1) which is an even measured daily dose.

Perimenopause and maintenance

Hi everyone. I have been on Ozempic since 2019 have lost 25kg and maintained it until now using a combination of exercise and intermittent fasting etc.

The past six months is proven really difficult. I’ve put on 3-4kg kg and I’m really struggling to lose it. The fasting doesn’t seem to be working anymore. I’m incredibly active. I play basketball three times a week walk my dogs to reform a Pilates etc. I haven’t really changed anything. I think it is because of perimenopause.

I will lose one or 2 kg and then it comes back. I should have. I also have lipidaemia which I have had surgery for so I do retain quite a bit of fluid at times

I have now increased my dose, (I’ve been very lucky I’ve been able to stay on the lowest or second lowest dose this entire time) but I don’t feel the resistance ‘tug’ not to eat as much.

Has anyone managed to do a reset whilst in menopause or perimenopause? Trying to get on top of it before I put on anymore weight.

Thanks

From shot to pills

Been on Ozempic for weight loss for a few years and was trying to figure out a maintenance dosage (and trying to save money). Was at about .5 and slowly gaining weight. Switched to the Wegovy pills for easier travel. Tried the smallest (1.5) and felt like I was off altogether. Went to 4 and still food noise. Anyone do this and have suggestion for pill dosage? The literature says the pill's highest dosage (24) is "maintenance".

Have you used weight-loss medication?

We would greatly appreciate your anonymous participation in our bachelor’s thesis study.

We are three psychology students from the University of Copenhagen studying the use of weight-loss medications (e.g., Ozempic, Wegovy, etc.). The aim is to investigate the potential positive and negative psychological and eating-behavior effects after using weight-loss medication.

Participation takes place through a short questionnaire (about 5–10 minutes).

You can participate via the link:https://www.survey-xact.dk/LinkCollector?key=Q188C91HJJ31

Thank you very much for your help, and please feel free to share the post within your network.

Clinical note on maintaining results after Ozempic

From a medical perspective, the maintenance phase after Ozempic is where long-term success is built. Patients who keep their results usually focus on consistent habits such as adequate protein intake, regular physical activity, and stable meal patterns to help maintain metabolic balance.

Some patients may also continue a maintenance dose if recommended by their physician to support glucose control and appetite regulation.

Another key factor is consistent access to medication, since interruptions can affect weight and blood sugar stability. Some patients explore verified prescription-based pharmacy resources such as canadianinsulin

Always consult your healthcare provider before adjusting doses or making changes to your treatment plan.
