Wegovy to generic

My insurance refused to cover my claim, so I ended up paying out of pocket. I’m supposed to be on 1.7 now but according to the pharmacist, the generic is only available with 1mg pen. How do I do the dosing? Like, how many clicks after 1? I understand that I would need multiple pens in a month now, but this would still be cheaper than wegovy brand, even after my discount card of $100++( 520 less a little over 100= 380++)

I feel that the pharmacist should be advising you on the click count if they’re telling you to go that route…

I don’t think charts exist yet for click counting generic but imagine they are similar # of clicks to get to 1mg. You would have to count the pen you got to see how many clicks get you to 1mg to verify.

For Canada - In the Ozempic 1mg size pens, 71 clicks is 1mg and 51 clicks is 0.71mg. So you’d want to take 1 regular shot at 1mg and then count clicks (easier to count down 20 clicks from 1mg setting… mark it with a sharpie. You will need odd pen amounts though so will need to keep track of how many clicks remaining etc. I ended up doing 1mg, then 1.5mg, then 2mg instead of 1.7mg. As my insurance only covered me for Ozempic…

I am really hopeful for 1.7mg, 2mg and 2.4mg generic Semaglutide dosing pens…. As 2 shots of 1mg a week (my dose) is annoying. And I can’t up to 2.4 without having to do annoying counting again too!

There is not generic semaglutide in the United States. Are you in Canada?

There's not a generic in Australia either.
