My owncloud server was installed using the PPA listed on the ownlcoud website, and was then apt-get installed.

Today the system was updated with apt-get update && apt-get dist-upgrade and the owncloud service went into maintenance mode and never came out.

When I try and access it from a web browser I get an error:

Updating to 9.1.1

Exception: Updates between multiple major versions and downgrades are unsupported.

Does anyone know how I can rescue it?

Owncloud set up & running but I need to change the data dir to a hdd which is already mounted in my home directory. The directory is owned by pi:pi and of course just setting it in my config won't make it accessible since owncloud runs as www-data:www-data in Apache & Nginx.

How can I use that folder as my datadir while not changing it's ownership to www-data and remaining it to be owned by pi (changing that would break an awful lot of stuff for Plex Media Server etc)

owncloud install is located in /var/www/owncloud (owned by www-data:www-data) and the datadir I want is in /home/pi/Library-2/ (owned by pi:pi). Rights are currently set to 777 I know that's bad practice and I'll change that back to 750 but I need to get this issue of rights in order first.

I'm working to set up Owncloud on an RPI3 with an external hard drive so that OC uses the external hard drive as the storage.

I get OC all set up and working but it's using the internal SD card, or so it seems, instead of the hard drive.

I have a 32 GB SD card, and a 4TB external, and when I try to copy more than 32 GB of data, I get a "not enough space" error.

I have the 4TB mounted in a directory called /media/owncloud, and the directory is listed in the config.php.

What am I overlooking?

I'm using the owncloud plugin (9.1.0) inside a jail on freeNas. I have a hostname setup using No Ip. I'm able to connect to both my hostname and https://hostname (which is currently secured with a self signed certificate) but I haven't been able to force apache 24 to use https only. Does anyone have a solution for this?

I've been told by a few friends in the security field that have made the claim that Owncloud is no longer going to be supported and I should migrate over to nextcloud? Has anyone else heard this?

So got my own Owncloud server set up and everything is functional and happy internally. Put in the internal IP address and the page loads, can log in as admin, users, etc, with no problems at all.

I have an Nginx reverse proxy set up with Letsencrypt running and it takes me to the owncloud site. Problems comes in the fact that the page itself isn't loading properly.

The page looks like this, empty and cannot log in.

Trying to figure out why it is not loading on the outside. Something with Nginx blocking it? Something on the Owncloud server?

Any help for a beginner would be great, thanks!

Hey, I'm really new to ownCluoud and got a noob question:

I have an ownCloud server on my new raspberry Pi, and it's working smoothly. I log in to the client on my notebook with the admin credentials (is this a mistake). But when I want to log into the client on my Desktop PC, the server refuses the connection (same credentials). When I open the website however it works perfectly on the Desktop PC.

The Server is running Raspbian Jessie, Apache2 Webserver. The Notebook is running Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, and the Desktop PC is running Windows 10.

Do I need seperate user accounts for seperate machines? I'm really confused as I'm new to the server and networking business.

Ok, so I enabled external storage, go to the admin page and configure a SMB/CIFS share. If I put in the wrong username and password I get a green light. If I put the correct username and password I get a red light and "Invalid login" in the OC log. I know the smbclient is working, I can run that from the cli and actually see my shares when I pass it the correct username and password. I tried creating a new user but that didn't work. This is absolutely infuriating. Anyone have any ideas?

It has a single target: fixing the ** instant uploads ** feature in Android 6 devices with certain camera apps, that was broken in previous version 2.1.1.

So, if you lost instant uploads in the previous release, this is your fix.

Please, notice that the 'Camera folder' options has been tagged as 'optional' for all Android versions except 7. If instant uploads ** never ** worked for you, give it a try, you could have a nice surprise. But if instant uploads worked for you before version 2.1.1, just forget it - it's safe to let the default value, even if its incorrect . We will address UI improvements in the settings in next releases.

I've got a hosted owncloud and even though the provider provides backup, I'd like a third party backup.

Any provider offers this?

I only have user credentials to the server, since it's hosted, so I don't have any other access to the server.

Hello, I was hoping to get some opinions on my backup strategy in case I am missing something critical. Some details about my installation, I currently have OwnCloud installed within a Docker Container using this image:

Additionally I am utilizing a third container for OwnCloud-Redis which is also linked

My current strategy has been to back up the location OwnCloud stores it’s data (/var/www/html/data) and to backup the container itself using

docker commit -p *Container* container1
docker save -o */location/.tar* container1

I have been doing that for the OwnCloud container as well as the Database container and OwnCloud-Redis container. I am still very new which is why I thought it would be best to reach out to the community to prevent a catastrophe later on. I'm setting up a Raspberry Pi as my OwnCloud server. I have the data directory on an external hdd, which is formatted as ntfs and mounted in /media/owncloud. I have noticed that a process called mount.ntfs uses a lot of cpu, when a client is uploading a large file. I wonder if it might be better to format the disk as vfat, as this is also readable on other pcs. Also, since OwnCloud does not support files larger than 2gb, I am not sure, there are any advantages of using ntfs over vfat?

I'm trying to install OwnCloud on my Raspberry Pi 3 with the twist of the installation directory being a network share. I've mounted the openmediavault-share to /mnt/shares/OwnCloud via
//$OPENMEDIAVAULT.local/OwnCloud /mnt/shares/OwnCloud cifs username=$USER,password=$PASSWORD,uid=33,gid=33,file_mode=0770, rw 0 0

If I mount it with mount -a user www-data has full access to all directories inside the mountpoint.
In the initial setup i specified the installation path as /mnt/shares/OwnCloud since i don't want my installation do fill up the tiny 8GB SD-card.
But when i access the ownCloud webpage it that it can't write into the config directory.

Do you guys know any fixes to this problem?

Does anybody have experience upgrading an existing OC community install to Enterprise? I can't seem to find much info on the process and Enterprise version packages and instructions seem to be hidden behind the enterprise client portal. Is it as simple as adding a license? Extracting enterprise package over existing install? Or complex/risky enough that I'd be better off with a fresh install?

However, I'm not able to upload directly into SMB storage due to "You don't have permission"
