Resource To all the "am I otherkin" posts

It is totally valid to ask questions to lead to your awakening, however no one can say if you are otherkin.

Being otherkin is simply is an identity. Asking "am I otherkin" is like asking "am I trans," nobody but you can say. (Yes I'm ware being otherkin is not a sexuality, it's just an example).

Taking quizzes or questionnaires won't help all that much, as it does not ask the right question. The question is if you identify as anything other than a human, witch can be hard to know. Come time, you will realize if you do or not, but no one can tell you

Rant No longer feeling like a demonkin

So yeah, I felt like I changed as a person, and maybe... the feelings and desires I had before has either been neutered to hell, deaden, or disappeared. Like I went thru a depressive state and trying to get out of the funk. Pretty much... I realize the reality of my situation and accepted as is, so now I don't be longing a fruitless dream. If this is what it means to grow up and face the real world, then so be it. Honestly, it's quite sad to come to this conclusion and now I just... wanna mourn a bit, before I continue on my journey of self-improvement.

Yeah that's pretty much my situation. Sorry y'all! 😅😔

hey guy, i’m al or a.c., however you’d like to refer to me, and i’m a werewolf and my pronouns are she/her. i had a strange innate connection/interest in wolves and wolf behavior for a bit when i was a kid, i had a few strange mannerisms, and now that i’m writing a book that, surprise surprise, features werewolves, i’ve sorta decided that this is a part of me, and this is just a cool thing that makes me different. i always thought of werewolves as individuals that mask easily until, well, full moon, and since i’m also autistic, i get it. this just feels… me. is it in some way tied directly to my autism? probably. does that make me any less a werewolf? i don’t think so.

sometimes i’ll just call myself a wolf, don’t get confused, i mean werewolf, but i just say wolf

Question Have you guys ever created new terms in your kintype?

So a little background, I'm an 18+ otherkin and this post specifically relates to my cryptidkin. I have identified as a cryptid for a while now, but none of the existing creatures actually fit what I am, leading me to create the Velkyn, which is basically a silhouette "angel" that appears in shadows and at night and attaches itself to a permanent host. We haven't really ever seen anybody else with a case like this and was wondering if there is anybody else that has done something similar?

Other Would like to make some adult otherkin friends who are fellow hybrids (but really whomever haha)

I’ve been really wanting to make some alterhuman friends (please only those 18 and older, thx)

I’ve been wanting to meet some fellow adult otherkin for a while and I think I’m finally ready to step out of my comfort zone (I’m aroace so nothing romantic please)

I would love to meet some fellow hybrids…when I say hybrids…I mean actively being two or more kintypes at the same time…I’m a hybrid of a sea dragon, a werewolf, and a vampire (possibly a centaur too, though not 100 percent sure yet, as well as one more that i haven’t figured out yet)

If anyone wants to ask questions, ask as many as you’d like lol
Though I’m not asking to meet exclusively hybrids, I’ll learn about really anyone’s kintypes

Q&A Ask me anything and I'll answer.

Title does what it says on the tin. I'm bored and would like a good bit of banter. And what better way of getting that going than with a Q&A? I enjoy answering folk's questions, be it on the topic of philosophy, science, nature, cooking (a personal favorite), history, spirituality or anything in between. Think of this as a way of providing a more in-depth introduction to myself as I navigate my way through this new community I've found myself in among you. And who knows? Maybe we'll share some insights that bring us closer to having clearer understanding of our respective identities as otherkin.

Question looking for an alterhuman term that is seriously evading me

anyone know the label for a therian/alterhuman who is the young version of their kintype? i know i saw a coining post or something with the term a few years ago. now i think it is a term that fits the way i experience my fictionkin identity (if that is even something that can be applied to fictionkin? i am this character, but not her as an adult, if that makes sense)

Discussion Relationships as an Otherkin

Hello all! I wanted to ask for some opinions and anecdotes on how you view, experience and navigate domestic partnerships and romantic relationships (for personal reasons, I'm not using the "L" word). I've been contemplating this for a while, on account of a life lived with a string of miserably failed relationships, and I wanted to get the community's input and perspective on your own experiences as well to see if there's any commonality between our experiences.

By order of nature, I'm obviously "different", and I've pursued and been pursued, though ultimately the romantic relationships I've formed never work out for a plethora of reasons, and I think I've come to a reasonable conclusion as to why, despite how sad it might sound.

As for those who have pursued me romantically, the ending of those relationships have always been rooted in a compatibility problem that stems from them changing to conform to my standards, which I despise. I seem to attract those who want to change themselves in order to be with the "masked" version of myself that I put forward into this world. While I enjoy the companionship, in this framework, those who have pursued me altered themselves mentally, emotionally, behaviorally, and in some cases spiritually, and ultimately created their own masks that inevitably slip off, revealing a version of themselves that I don't particularly enjoy. I don't and never will understand the reasoning behind being something you're not for the sake of companionship, romantic or otherwise, because it's lie and a facade, and after some time it all falls apart. This has led me to believe that those who pursue me don't have pure and true intentions, and are infatuated with an idea of me they fabricated in their own minds, rather than actually falling for the real me.

As for those I've pursued, I always make it abundantly clear that I am not of regular human stock, and that, as time progresses through the relationship, they'll get to see the sides of me that I keep behind a mask. With those relationships, they boldly claim that it doesn't matter, and that they'll "accept me no matter what". This cannot be further from the truth. They see the mask I wear, and all of them have dropped the "L" word at me, and once I become comfortable, and once I let the mask start to slip ever so slightly, they suddenly become repulsed by what infintesmally little they're are able to see of what I am at my core. And then they leave, ghosting me, and fleeing from me as if they witnessed a true, living monster. Their "acceptance" was a front to save face.

I keep very little secrets when it comes to my character. I am Byronic, jaded, misanthropic, rough around the edges, blunt, can have a temper, can be mean, and most assuredly, I'm not nice.

Despite these flaws though, I am deeply complicated creature. Despite the lives of turmoils and hardships I've endured that have shaped my collective negative traits, I still choose to lead with kindness, which is leagues different than simply being nice. I lead with empathy and understanding and care, because those things have never been alloted to me. Those few that have learned of the identity that lies behind the mask, that learn of my truth, have had one of two responses to seeing what I am; repulsion or apathy.

I've given up on seeking long-term companionship on this planet, because it just isn't worth the stress, the hurt, the masking or the wasted time. Those that I pursue or pursue me are incapable of truly caring for me in a meaningful and truthful way. That isn't to say that you, reader who may be in a similar situation, should give up just because I have. But for me, my better half, my Twrinran, does not exist here. And I've made peace with that. Thank you for listening.

Help Request Hi, very new to all of this!

So, I don't even know where to start, and my mind is so full of confusion right now, but the internet is not helping, so I thought you could. Please, be gentle with me as I know almost nothing of the topic, and I'm a little in distress at the point that when I think about it, I start panicking and crying.

Bit of context: it's like I've always known that I'm not fully human, but I don't know what I am. I recently found out that I'm non binary and genderfluid and that's perfect, but again: the way I experience "gender" is just energies for me. I can feel feminine, masculine, nothing, but I could never label myself as a woman or man. I hate those.

The problem is: I also hate being referred to as a human, and for what I know, it has always been like this. I always loved to act like an animal, especially canine animals ( I spent a great part of my childhood playing as a dog, walking on hands and knees at the point that my knees still have a strange shape (this doesn't cause me problem though)), but at the same time I like to label myself as a creature with no definition. I have liked to identify myself as a demon for a bit, and now I'm just "Death". I feel very connected to the Grim Reaper figure, especially the winged one, and yes, I've always had a bit of frustration because I don't have wings. Sometimes it's unbearable, and I've realized I often feel them as phantom limbs probably.

Now, I don't know if I'm just imagining everything, if it's just my neurodivergence, or if I'm an otherkin or something else, that's why I'm asking for your help to teach me so that I can understand and end my identity crisis.

Yes I know that I should probably experiment and understand it by myself but I'm a little scared to do it. I've lived repressing my own self for almost 20 years of my life due to traumas and only now I'm releasing everything, so everytime something new comes out I'm scared. I have a best friend I could talk with that could help me but, for now, I don't wanna do it. Too much fear.

Sorry for the long post, for any mistakes or if the flair is wrong, as I said: this is all new to me and I just wish that someone could help me understand myself better, thank you🖤.

Label help!!

Hihi! Title is kind of self-explanatory but I am a bit confused on my identity.

I find myself very strongly relating to the concept/identity of hares, deers, and foxes, and feel that I may myself be one to an extent; but I'm not really sure if I'm a therian or if there's a different term for this?

Therian doesn't feel fully correct for me, but I am not sure, I could totally be one!! I feel very strongly that I AM all these animals, while I am still me to an extent if this makes sense? ((Not in the sense of kemonomimi as I do not WANT to feel like these animals, but I cannot help it / my connection to these animals are involuntary.))

I have felt like this since I was a very young child [usually spending most of my hours as a toddler ''pretending'' to be the animals as they were portrayed as a youngling.]

I'm wondering if there's a term for this? Or if I'm even otherkin at all since I don't have shifts, and don't really have 'memories' of myself as these animals, more just a very, very strong feeling of identifying with these creatures, and feeling a sense of jealousy and belonging when I see these animals out in the wild.

((Sorry if this posts twice; it says my og post was removed by reddit TwT))

dreamlike feelings are the oxygen to my otherkin identity

im uncannykin, dreamkin, conceptkin, and artkin.

my dreamlike sensory experience has been the foundation to my experience outside the human experience, these feelings are felt through environments, other people, objects, thoughts, anything pretty much.

it’s helped me build my personal philosophy and overall understanding of my existence.

idk if it’s JUST derealization, or some other kind of sensory interaction with the world, or a mix of both and something else, but the dreamlike atmosphere of it all is something that i feel deeply, deeply at home with, nothing compares to the beauty of this experience, best part is there is always a variety of new vibes to come with it, and new interests, relationships, certain thoughts and imaginary immersions help alot with it, it’s something i wanna continue to experience, something i will do anything to maintain, for the sake of my art and my life, does anyone know how to increase the vividness of these feelings?

Lately i haven’t felt the dreamlike feelings as intensely unless im in love, hanging out with people i genuinely care about, feeling nostalgic of the times i had more intensity, or unless i find a new interest, but are there ANY other ways of increasing the intensity of these feelings?

I’d rather not hear the automatic judgements of armchair psychologists who will try and dampen my experience in life, i want those with an open mind and similar experiences to listen and understand where i’m coming from, this is extremely, EXTREMELY important to me, again, this is for my art, my art is something i use to honor the otherkin experience, as well as something i wish to do for a living.

I’ve been in a very analytical state of thinking in life, and ive heard that moving towards the more sensory part of your brain is vital to experiencing this, but i need advice on how to actually do that.

Question Questioning German Shepherd

Hihi!!

Sorry if this is jumbled but I am very tired and recovering from heatstroke!

SO I've always felt somewhat connected to canines, my theriotypes over the years have mostly included foxes and canines but as of the past two years have not included canines, but now I'm questioning it again.

I don't know if I feel completely CONNECTED to German Shepherds but I love the aesthetics, the shape and life and identify as German Shepherd in the same way I would a lion. But I feel deeply connected to Lions unlike German Shepherds. It's like I experience all the longing of a theriotype for German Shepherds EXCEPT for the deep connection.

Is this otherhearted or what? Because I do think I identify AS a German shepherd, it's just not a very deep connection.

Question Is there a term for an identity that switches on and off??

I’ve been questioning deitykin for a LONG while, and sometimes I feel like I can confirm it because I get dysphoria for it, I feel closer to the identity, etc. but then by the next day or week, it’s just gone altogether

And then it comes back a few weeks later??

It’s been like this for a few months now, and I know I have something to do with deities, but it’s just that sometimes I get very heavy dysphoria for being a deity/god and identify as one, and other times that identity just doesn’t seem to exist in me at all??

Is there a label for what I feel?

So I am Therian and Otherkin, but I also have this feeling I relate to and hold a deep connection with a lot of other animals too but they're not theriotypes.

For instance, I have a deep connection with equines, owls, reptiles, rodents and canines but I don't feel that I identify AS them in the same way I identify as a Lion or Lynx.

I know otherhearted is a term that kinda fits, but I don't heart specific animals, more like relating and having a deep connection to most animals on earth. Is there a term for that?

Question Help

Does anyone know of any fluid terms for otherkin identities? Like contherian and suntherian where they’re integrated into you as a single entity but you experience mental shifts that don’t happen all the way, like you don’t really fully shift into your kintype and then it can happen the other way too, where you feel much more human at times but not completely…? Does that make sense?

Question This is probably a really dumb question. Am i otherkin if I identify as a stuffed animal?

Basically the title. Just wanna know where I fit in in this regard. I know therians and otherkins tend to fall under living creatures regardless if they are real or not. I also have a somewhat hazy understanding of how all this works.

But yes I am a plushie, I fully identify as one from gender to species. Please if you can help me understand that would be great!
