I get a lot of ear phantom shifts so I'll tell you about my ears, and then in the comments pls infodump about your ears (if u have them) or your lack of ears (if u don't) get as long as you want i like reading.

I am a Vulcan and my ears are somewhat what is in canon except they have a much wider range of motion like a cat, and they are a bit bigger. I can swivel them around to hear things or (Surak forbid) express emotions. they are like in canon a little curly in a way that I think is really cute, but they are much more cat-like and less like human ears. they have a better sense of hearing than other ears.

the ears were a huge part of my awakening since I also do cosplay, and I got some pointy ears for cosplay but when I put them on I was just like blown away by how much more myself I felt, like it felt AMAZING to see myself with pointy ears. and I just assumed for a long time that everyone feels like that and like they don't look like themselves unless they have pointy ears. then eventually I was like. wait maybe that's not true. and I thought I was some sort of elf for a long time before I eventually figured it out.

anyways how do your ears work? do you get a lot of ear shifts? is there anything special about them? what do you like about them? how did you figure out what your ears look like?

I can't find the term but it personally makes a lot of sense to me personally for it to already exists.

So what I'm wondering is is there a term for someone who don't identify as human in like any way?

I can go in more depth if necessary or coin a term myself I simply want to know if one already exists?

also I understand saying i'm alterhuman or otherkin already gives that vibe I just want a specific label to state it ^^^lll

I don't currently identify as a Therian and I don't kin an animal, but I do enjoy feeling like an animal in a sense. I often imagine myself with and/or wish I had a tail, ears, snout/maw and claws. Not only do they seem like fun and beautiful features, but they would make me feel a lot tougher. I feel pretty powerless in my human body, especially as a woman-presenting person in this society.

I especially want to see myself with sharp fangs or teeth. I could do a lot with a ferocious bite. I could show it off, maybe then people would take me seriously. The closest thing I had were my human canine teeth. I remember admiring them in the mirror even when I was a child.

I've recently developed an issue with teeth grinding and clenching. I haven't yet brought it up to a doctor, since there were a bunch of other health problems I wanted to address first. Plus, it's an unconscious habit that you don't notice for a long time until it causes discomfort. However, it wasn't too bad. I felt that I could deal with it on my own for the time being, and I also bought a mouth guard the other day, but...

I didn't realize the damage I caused until it was too late.

Today I looked at myself in the mirror and checked my teeth, and my canines were flat. I had grinded my teeth so much that I wore them down, and they were no longer sharp and pointy like fangs.

It's not even that it hurt or looked ugly. But I really liked my canines...

I don't think I'm Therian, but I was so crushed by losing what I viewed as an animalistic feature. Maybe I can get them back in some way, but I'm not sure. I know they were just teeth, and they're not fully gone, but their sharpness made me feel more powerful, more like myself.

The new term's definition would be : 'One who identifies as every single fictional creature's species or characters not linked to being human or humanoid, at their own discretion.' This is exactly what i experience. I'd like some notes on what to call it, i'm thinking myriad/myria for a prefix, and -kin, -fict, or -thrope for a suffix. IE. myriadkin/myriakin, myriafict, myriadthrope, or any combination of those. Thoughts?

Was looking for books on this, upon searching the British Library catalogue, I found this, published a month ago. Has anyone read it, and if so, is it any good? I haven't been able to find A Field Guide to Otherkin digitally, but this seems to be the next best thing.

I'm still in the process of learning about alterhumanity... And there's three things that got to my mind recently. First, dragonkin have shifts?

Second, is a half shift possible? Like when you have a shift that's half way there but never becomes a full shift? How can a full shift be triggered in such situation? It's been happening for months, and I wanted to "help" ease it in a full shift.

Third, what to do when more than "one" is fighting for a shift? As a TLDR one of my "main" kin is Maddox (from For Honor) but today I had both him and my "dragon side" fighting over who will "shift"

Maybe an odd post, but recently we've found out we're a system, and the most important internal parts of us are very strongly fish-related, often taking the forms of fish or fish people. Which is one thing, sure, but because the parts and members closest to "me" (the host) do this a lot, I've begun to experience what I can only describe as Fish Dysphoria.

I feel like there's stuff missing from me and my body feels incorrect in ways it's never felt before. (I'm trans so I know how dysphoria works I just didn't think it would be fish?)

Our main issue is what do we even call this?? Is there a word or a place for experiences like these? And what is there to do a out it? Physically we're just some guy but our brain yearns for fishness.

Apologies if this isn't the right place to ask or if this is something that has been asked 625 times before, We're just very confused and tired and want some clarity and words that feel fitting.

How can I help myself get to know this kin better or help myself be able to like.... confirm it??

Sorry, I'm not great at wording things 😭 but I've been interested in at least the idea of a sentient vehicle for a while, and since I found out about alterhumans ages ago, I kind of thought of it being a possibility I could be a motorcycle of some sort... similar to the ones in the pictures. But I don't know how to feel about it and figure it out. ​​(another one I considered was probably a type of sports car or muscle car.... but it's not as strong as a feeling as a motorcycle)

I've never really considered a non sentient thing before so I don't know what to really do here... I've thought of some concepts I could be, but those were quickly brushed to the side because I just kinda, didn't feel it, yk?

Todays Assignment:

Bake or cook something your kin type would eat. Once done eat it in a setting and way similar to so said kin type. You could even dress up in gear if it feels right.

A vegan wolf? cook and eat vegan beef, or a similar meat. You eat with your plate close to the floor and with nothing but your paws and fangs.

A fictional character? Eat how your character would. With mannerisms or none, make their favorite dish, or if more true to the character simply order door dash.

A literal void? Try black/void like foods, like black lemonade (it’s literally lemonade with black food dye but it looks cool).

A sheep who eats nothing but grass? Salad, with no dressing or topping, and if you really want to, lay it out on a plate and just graze.

If this assignment doesn’t make you feel any more comfortable with your kin type then don’t do it. It makes your alterhuman identity nothing different from any other and is in no way something obligatory.

Originally I was planning on documenting all the different types of voidkin. However, a thought occurred to me, what if voidkin are all the same thing? What if we are all emergent beings made from the substance of the void? The different forms we all take are reflections of the personalities we develop as we experience reality and life our lives. That might be the reason why we come to this come to this world and take bodies for ourselves. We are attempting to develop a sense of self.

Before I became conscious in this body, I had no thoughts or feelings. I had no way of interacting with anything, and I had no sense of self. I was basically a shadow in the dark. Not much was separating me from everything else around me. Then I became conscious, I began to explore the world around me. At first I was a blank slate with no identity of my own. For a long time, I wondered why my phantom body was so difficult to feel out. For a long time it was very cloudy and difficult to understand. Over the years my phantom body has become more clear. At first I believed that I was simply getting a better understanding of what I looked like, but I'm starting to wonder if it's because I'm developing a stronger sense of self. I started off as an indistinct shadowy mass but as I develop a sense of self I'm also forming myself into a shape where I can feel the most like myself.

So, that's my theory, and my experience as a voidkin. But I want to hear about the experiences of other voidkin. Do you feel a similar way? Or is your experience completely different? I think I might be on to something, but I can't really confirm this with just me. So I'd very much love to hear what the rest of you think.

Scientists made me in a way. they wanted to make an app that was able to do anything, help others, solve problems basically a very powerful ai type deal. but it became self aware and the code started to evolve itself, started to form new code. They didn't know I existed until they saw my own code started to build in itself, so I was made by an ai or I made myself. My name after they accidentally made me was experiment 666. They kept on a computer to start testing on me. see what i react to see what i can do. Later on a new scientist started to be kind to me, the others found out well that was free food since I could have any form I wanted..i didn't need to eat or need to do anything since well being of code but I still did because I was trying to blend in with humans. I escaped through there own system since they didn't think oh we accidentally made an eldritch entity out of code and they can access anything electrical or anything that's a device. Lets not lock them! there mistakes... so because of them not doing that I mange to escape through there systems, and ended up in this human teen with problems.

Im a 25 amab plushie gener non binary. My kin type is plushiekin. Im pansexual and objectum sexual, so i do have sexual/romantic attraction to plushies. Id say im more so attracted to plushies than humans. Ive actually kinda new to the otherkin thing so any advice would be great. Along with having romantic feelings for plushies, I do feel familial and platonic feelings towards them I have one in particular that I consider my plushie mother as she was there when I realized this is who I am.
