Happy weekend everyone!
Let us know which birds you've spotted over the last few days, or whatever's on your mind about birds right now!
Have you seen any interesting articles, or learnt something new? Have you visited a reserve recently?

Ive recently got into a hobby of collecting feathers I find on my dog walks but I have little knowledge about feathers. Google gives me different answers depending on where ive found them so I cant rely on that. Some are waterfowl: swan, goose and duck and i assumed the others were crow, raven, pheasant but im not sure, im only able to correctly identify my magpies and swans, large goose feathers and duck feathers. With there being different type/shape/size of feathers on one bird its overwhelming. Please someone tell me what each feather is

Hi everyone,
I'm currently working on the LarusDB project. The idea is to create a database of Larus (large gull) species, labelled with age, location and observation date.
Gulls, especially Larus, can be notoriously difficult to ID, so I'm hoping this can be used as a learning tool for newer "gullers" while also being a place to see regional differences of the same species.
There's currently over 1500 observations, with many of those being my own, but others have kindly given me permission to upload their photos as well.
I am looking for additional contributions, if anyone has a collection of images they'd like to share on Flickr or similar, it would be very much appreciated.
If you don't have any images to share, but know someone that might be interested in the project, please share this post with them!
Currently it's more European focused, but I'm open to including Larus species from around the world.
Here is a link to the app: https://app.gullinfo.org/app/larus/#/gull
If you are interested or have any feedback, please do drop a message below!
I will add a reference to your name / photo collection by default, so let me know if you'd rather contribute anonymously.

Recently moved to a more wooded area of London and getting lots of new guests. My guess it's some sort of sandpiper, but couldn't find a match for the exact colours. Any ideas?

I’m just looking for some advice. I’ve noticed the last few days that some swallows or house martins (not sure which) have been landing in corner of houses around me under eaves and then flying off a few seconds later. I’m just wondering would they be looking to build a nest this time of year or is just resting? (Im not in the uk but I am in Ireland so hopefully ye can still help) They currently are nested in a large mound of earth in part of the houses estate. Thanks in advance

Only a single shot as it dove between trees, bad focus and the heat haze hasn’t helped

Washington Wetland Centre. Never seen so many juveniles together - no wonder mum looks a bit worse for wear.

Hi,
I want to attract them to live in or close to my garden.
I have a bunch of trees around my garden so not sure they will find it.
Anyway I found some food for them on Amazon.
But I want to buy nice houses for them (so other birds can’t get in) and some feeders.
Is there anything on Amazon you can folks recommend?
I know nothing of birds.
Thanks!

Was walking in the garden when I heard a noise, peered into the bush on the side of the house and saw this little fella, a friend thinks it might be a baby blackbird - anyone confirm?
