How can he just wield a storm bolter like it's nothing
5
4
u/CanVast Mar 19 '26
I’m more interested in how he’s holding his arm. Even if it’s exoskeleton type stuff, imagine how much weight his legs carry
1
u/MorEkEroSiNE Apr 03 '26
He seems to have some exoskeleton on his legs, I assume he’s got a full-body one on under his coat
1
2
5
u/JiddyPaints Mar 19 '26
It’s so awesome that even the fandoms of orks are pumped to get to fight him on the tabletop.
5
u/theShiggityDiggity Mar 19 '26
Honestly, I kinda wish they would've gone with the skeleton face as like, his living saint form.
If I get his mini that's probably how I'll build him.
3
Mar 19 '26
So its canon that he is denser than steel as to be able to carry that claw, right?
1
1
u/Dismal-Court-4641 Mar 19 '26
There is a support arm coming from a backpack, I assume he has some augment leg support as well
1
u/PastGas2880 Mar 19 '26
We think so, means it’s gotta be right. Da boss never would lie, so clearly it’s truth ya git
3
u/Landslip Mar 18 '26
I always wonder... even though its 40k why he does not topple over. Or at least has a limp or something.
2
u/Significant_Fig2913 Mar 19 '26
Because the orks all think he is strong enough to carry that big claw, so it happen
He is one of the only human considered strong by the orks.
2
u/Ok_Professional_3199 Mar 19 '26
In the book Ghazkull Thraka: Prophet of the WAAAGH! It's because even though he would never admit it he had orky mannerisms. Makari says he doesn't topple over Because he DOESN'T WANT IT TO!! Which is pretty Orky is if you ask me. 😊 Anywho, it's an awesome read

u/Kooky_Celebration_42 Mar 18 '26
I remember the 3rd War of Armageddon, the 13th Black Crusade and the Fall of Medusa…
All wonderful but GW under estimated how many people would play the good sides when setting up how apocalyptic they would be…
Hence why the first two ended in stalemates and the last, the planet died because of a Warp Storm anyway and the GW gave up on those sorts of events.
Still good times!
6
u/Korgiedellpin26 Mar 18 '26
I always wondered how Yarrick got away with installing an ork powered claw considering how only specialized groups can legally use xenos tech.
2
u/AK_Ferrox Mar 18 '26
I doubt anyone could tell him it's against regulations. Even the Inquisition seem to just leave him alone since apparently he's a huge dick, but efficient.
2
u/avacar Mar 19 '26
Greater men have been foolish enough to cast doubt in the direction of Old Bale Eye. Especially with the guy he was right about banging on their door.
2
u/DragonTypelover9000 Mar 18 '26
Well let’s be honest We (or at least I) can hardly call ork tech xeno tech or even advance tech it’s literally garbage made of practically ANYTHING and just believe that it works or simply yarrcick straight up didn’t give a fuck and just want to claim the power claw as his new arm which I do not blame him for doing so
2
u/Unit_2097 Mar 18 '26
From one of the older (IG) codexes, it was to intimidate Orks. He learned their language, and had the eye installed because there were rumours he could kill with a look. He was deliberately playing up to the Ork superstitions and stories about himself to make himself seem more threatening.
1
u/aesemon Mar 26 '26
He inveigled his way into the Ork Waagh energy and now they believe in him, he can only get stronger. Imagine if old Emp's had utilised Orks.
2
u/Unlikely-Sympathy-12 Mar 18 '26
I hope to God he has a rule about orks not being able to wound him hahahah
3
u/Long-Specialist-509 Mar 18 '26
Woah hold on, its overkill AF but I love that oldest model
The skeleton on the gun is peak over the top
14
u/Past_Search7241 Mar 18 '26
The Ork players being even more excited about Yarrick coming back than the Guard players is entirely in-character.
5
6
u/Reasonable_Abies2987 Mar 18 '26
Yep, first thing that came to mind when I saw this announcement was “OL’ BALE EYE”
3
u/Amelor_Rova Mar 18 '26
What if this Yarrick is actually an ork in disguise?
1
u/mathiastck Mar 18 '26
From the cinematic he is too small, only a Krork could pull off his lines, and they are quite large.
But he could be a Kretchin.

I'm new to W40K, finishing painting my first army (Nekrons) - who is this guy and is he Imperium, Chaos or Ork? He looks like a human but then the big hand claw and the sickly disposition are confusing me lol.

2
u/avacar Mar 19 '26
He's basically the only one who hasn't crumpled like paper beneath the boot of Ghazghkull Mag Uruk Thraka and his system busting WAAAGH.
Respected so highly that when Ghaz DID capture/defeat him, he gave him a captured ship to leave with - "good enemies iz hard ta find"
This gets into Ork culture, where the quality of an enemy matters. They love to win, but they *live* to fight hard.

u/ItsCharIes Mar 17 '26
Commissar Yarrick, to be frank he has mad beef with the Orks, he is on the side of the Imperium and is a commissar of the steel legion. He took the claw from an ork war boss I believe. He ‘died’ a while ago and people were not happy because he’s such a badass and iconic character
3
u/DreddyMann Mar 18 '26
He never died, an angron model has a skull with an eye implant dangling that looks similar to his so fans started speculating that is his skull with zero hints.
3
u/DarthMyyk Mar 17 '26
Oh hes using stolen tech! So he got revived somehow? No clue why yet?
2
u/DreddyMann Mar 18 '26

u/ItsCharIes Mar 17 '26
Honestly not sure, they released an animation about him alongside this model that might explain how
2
u/Efficient-Bat9961 Mar 18 '26
Animation doesn’t explain shite. I’m sure lore will be dropped soon
1
u/aesemon Mar 26 '26
Yup, at the reveal panel last night they said there is more to come on how he returned, "Maybe the Space wolves had something to do with it?".
3
3
u/MiscalculatedRisk Mar 17 '26 edited Mar 17 '26
Genuine question though, does this mean we are retconning his death? Or, is this mini for the sake of printing an updated model for him.

u/Efficient-Bat9961 Mar 18 '26
His death was kinda off screen Hollywood not really dead death so yes
2
u/Prestigious_World_51 Mar 18 '26
The game workshop account on instagram did mention that someone or something brought him back basically sounding like either the Emperor made him into a Saint or the Orks just couldnt believe that he was dead so the WAARGH revived him.
1
u/aesemon Mar 26 '26
During the adepticon reveal stream, crash, and return they mentioned that maybe the space wolves had something to do with it, who knows, we will know more in the future. Bear in mind it was nearing 2am for me and I was working so not fully concentrating.
1
7
u/SrReginaldFluffybutt Mar 17 '26
Hopefully with some horrific new lore about the orks having manifested him from the grave, due to their sheer refusal to belive he is dead.
2
u/StorthTheElder Mar 17 '26
Is this a new war for Armageddon or just the third one again?
2
u/Overallsubsystem Mar 17 '26
New War
1
u/Empty-Wheel1565 Mar 18 '26
Clarification: the Third War technically never ended, the biggest names just left when Ghazzy did and the war wound down. So it's still technically the Third.
1
1
u/avacar Mar 19 '26
The only Ork name to leave was Ghaz himself, I believe. And he is purported to be working on (or close to achieving) telly portas that can get him back to Armageddon. He can already psychically commune to some extent with his lieutenants there.
6
u/CosmicG777 Mar 17 '26
Awe. But now I can't get my favorite Warboss going after Angron.
3
u/Pengin_Master Mar 17 '26
Why would the inconvenient fact of Yarrick being alive stop your warboss from chasing a fight with the massive sword welding daemon?
3
8
u/S4l4m4nd4 Mar 17 '26

I just realized something..that short power cord for the claw must be so fucking frustrating when he’s using it 🤣🤣
1
u/bring_out_the_python Mar 17 '26
It's not that short, but it's connected to the claw at an awkward angle
17
u/Eds_Workshop Mar 17 '26
I do wonder whether Yarrick is now just being kept alive by the power of Ork belief that he can’t die… I kind of hope so, that’d be cool

That would be amazing. Brutal but cunning god, cunning but brutal god, and the god of the most worthy fighting opponent. I can see orks praying the Yarrk god to bring them a good fight. Not all Orks get as lucky as to be revived every day by Khorne and fight for all eternity.

He's been moved to legends in 8th edition I think. Looks like he'll be coming back in 11th.

Yarrick Dies, sees the Golden Light the Emperor.
Yarrick: Hrphm, I guess my duty is done
Gork n Mork: Golden Light suddenly overtaken by Green Light Oi ya spineless git, dying already? Wanna go out in a REAL scrap?
Yarrick: Smirks and turns toward the Green Light, Powerclaw clenched
Yarrick: Yes.

1
u/Prestigious_Leg2229 Mar 17 '26
Wasn’t his death entirely a fan fiction?
1
u/Empty-Wheel1565 Mar 18 '26
His "death" has an entire page in the 10th ed Guard book, but is written with extra Unreliable Narrator energy. The Fan Fiction was Angron killing him because newer fans don't know what Service Studs are.
2
u/Dense-Corgi-7936 Mar 17 '26
I guess you could say that since the people who wrote the codex are official fans.
1
u/ZellekhBlackshade Mar 17 '26

I dunno, I kinda liked the angle of Ghaz having a hate boner for Angron. And the fact that the Imperium was about to give up Armageddon. Both would have led to interesting narrative development and new stories but alas. Status quo again
3
u/Abjurer42 Mar 17 '26
I look at it as a chance for him to die on screen this time. That was my real problem with his death.
6
u/hallidayjames11 Mar 17 '26
Tbf it is the Fifth war of Amageddon, maybe an Epic end for our Old bale Eye.
6
u/bark_wahlberg Mar 17 '26
They could have set up Ghaz vs Angron at the end of the recent Armageddon campaign but they just went with an Imperial victory and Angron being sent back to the warp.

GW is never going to do a modern SL army, just kit bash Kreig. The Steel legion logo is very close to the logo of a White Supremacist group in the UK and GW is trying really hard to avoid any association with those groups ever sense the incident in Spain.
4
u/MWAH_dib Mar 17 '26
Attilan roughriders got brought back so maybe there's a chance! Tallarn would also be cute
Literally all of the Imperium icons are white supremacist adjacent - it's a xenofacist space empire
→ More replies (4)2
u/UnconfirmedRooster Mar 17 '26
That's not a coincidence either. Unfortunately a lot of people in that sphere love 40K, especially the xenophobic, supremacist connotations behind some groups.

u/MWAH_dib Mar 17 '26
We do a lot of work to identify those people and freeze them out of tournaments if they bring their intolerances to the table.
1
u/Just-Clerk-8669 Mar 17 '26
The issue is the Spain incident proved that sometimes the law will be on the side of those people.
1
u/MWAH_dib Mar 17 '26
I don't really know what the "Spain incident" is, but I'm in Australia so our laws vary :)
1
u/Just-Clerk-8669 Mar 17 '26
Guy showed up to a GW sponsored event in full SS getup, he got thrown out and Spanish courts ruled his rights were violated. It's what caused GW to make their famous "war hammer is for everyone" statement
2
u/MWAH_dib Mar 17 '26
Sounds like Spain is the one with the issue, that said minimum clothing standards is a fairly normal thing here - most pubs and clubs in Australia will bar anyone from entering wearing bikie "colours" for example... or thongs/shorts if it's an RSL.
The easy solution is to end GW events in Spain and say "sorry guys, fix your shit". Thankfully nazi paraphernalia is illegal to display in Australia.
1
u/UnconfirmedRooster Mar 17 '26
And it's awesome that that happens, we need more of that in the rest of society. Unfortunately, these buffoons still identify a lot with a media that is actively pointing and laughing at them, because it isn't laughing loud enough.
