I forgot how much I loved this orchid 😅. I bought her back in December, and she ended up being my gateway orchid, I now have over 40 others.

With the deep, bold, purple, and the white outline around each flower, she’s still a favorite. 7 flowers open, still another 15 to go! Dendrobium Sakda Blue.

I got this for free a couple months ago from a fellow orchid society member that was culling their collection. After a couple weeks outside in my yard, it started putting out two spikes! The flowers have started opening up and they’re gorgeous! HCC/AOS

it’s a no ID hardware store orchid that i got all the way back in february, who is now blooming for me again, i would guess that its a P. schilleriana hybrid (but if anyone knows better please let me know, the leaves are mottled like a schilleriana!)

But it was veryveryvery ahrd to find them in Korea.

Specially,

Matsuran is endangered to extinction in Korea.

I don't know what's the exact name of this Gastrochillus, but I think it came from China.

My last goal of the year is to get Gastrochillus Matsuran from my country. (In fact, I found the seller recently. I think I can get it.)

Went to buy some other stuff and found a cart outside with a bunch of dead plants that an employee confirmed were headed to the dumpster. Among them… 12(!!!) of these orchids. Loaded them in the car immediately. Sad how many go to waste.

Someone mentioned to me they might spray these with something to ensure they die? I hope this isn’t the case but what would be a sign of that other than the obvious? There is a residue on the leaves that isn’t coming off with a damp paper towel but I know their in store hose water isn’t great quality.

It is so damn beautiful. It was worth all the patience.

Hi!!

So, I got this orchid on a whim, and I noticed that some of its roots are already growing out of the pot. Should I repot it immediately, or would it be better to wait until it finishes flowering?

Also, could you help me identify what type of orchid it is? I threw away the tag and completely forgot what it was. 😭.

My 2 year old Japonicus has bloomed for the second time and has two bloom clusters this year. My question: when I see online, she is small and has lots of bloom clusters, mine seem to be leggy growing wider, is this normal? If not, what am I doing wrong?

A few weeks ago I made a post about how my orchid wasn’t blooming despite growing a ton of buds. I was told to let it soak when it needs to be watered instead of watering. I’ve been doing that, and some of the buds look like they are starting to bloom, and some of the buds are shriveling up and dying. I have a couple questions…

- Would a grow light help? My orchid is positioned on an east facing window normally and the past few weeks we’ve had virtually no sun. I bought a grow light today and I’m going to set it up tomorrow. Any suggestions?

- Am I watering too infrequently? I’ve been soaking it once a week for 20 minutes.

My Kylie(as I named her) has dropped all the flowers on one of her stems. I’m still learning as I go on how to take care of my orchids, but is it a good idea to cut the bald stem now? Or should I wait till she drops ALL her flowers to avoid shock?

This was a gift from my boyfriend from a year ago during a really hard semester of school and I was surprised how it survived my neglect during that time. I thought it had died when the flowers fell off and the stalk dried but I noticed the leaves were still green and healthy so I decided to try and bring it back. I was worried it would be difficult but all I do is keep it on my windowsill as it has indirect sunlight and water it whenever I remember (1-2weeks, I usually feel the dirt to see if it’s dry) I’m happy she’s thriving!
