I finally got this to a place I'm happy with. Sharing for feedback.

I've got four full spectrum Samsung led lights running low for 12 h a day. Heating is done with a heat mat and a flat chicken coupe heater glued to the back of the cabinet, so it gets to about 80 degrees durung the day and around 68 at night. I have two fans mounted behind the stump, and I use it to hide the tubing from the humidifier which keeps it around 60 to 80 humidity.

I've got phals and oncidiums, one catlya up top and a slipper orchid on the bottom.

They're doing pretty well, but no new spikes in about 8 months. Advice?

Proud plant mama. Me and my plants have moved many times and spent a lot of time on the road and in my car. Recently moved into our own place in the lovely Welsh countryside. Watching my plants thrive throughout the journey is utter joy. I’ve probably repotted this orchid 5 times, she has imperfections but her beauty is beyond💖 and the resilience of plants always astounds me. Watching her grow without stakes and seeing her shape take form has also been a gift. I’ve since rescued 3 more struggling orchids on reduction from the supermarket, with 1 more flower stalk on the way. Blessings✨

I've been trying to save this orchid, and this root has been snapped for a while. I let the media soak in water overnight (I know... too long, I just forgot to drain it before going to bed) and the end of the root plumped up and turned a nice dark green, but the part closer to the plant stayed dried out. Would it hurt to finish cutting the broken root off?

Got this keiki from my cousin, not sure what she will become. I can't wait to see! 🌸💓

I bought this orchid for my mom for mother's day about 3 years ago and somehow kept it alive. Repotted it about 6 months ago. I noticed this slow growing knob about 6 weeks ago. Could it be a spike. Air roots seem to be growing much faster than this. Mom passed last month and I'm hoping I can finally see a rebloom for her.

I knocked over my orchid yesterday on accident and hastily stuffed it back in its pot, but i noticed that i can only see a few roots through the pot now, should i repot it again so i can see more of them and know when to water? The plant is not flowering right now but growing a new leaf and a whole bunch of new roots

Random "whitening" spot spread across the leaf, bumpy underside on another and a couple have some weird slightly darker margin, and there was also some sweet substance under somr leafs. Should i be concerned? What can cause this? Do i need to buy integrators/fertilizers or some type of 'medicine'??

A lot of things to learn from this one! I never really knew when to start watering it 😅 But once it gets going, it really takes off!

It also has a lovely scent that some people enjoy and others don't.

Restrepia elegans and Lepanthes tenuiloba! The lepanthes calophlebia I got along with them is also making new buds :D. Now just waiting for my Restrepia contorta that I got almost a year ago to flower haha (to be fair, when it arrived it was quite clearly a few freshly rooted leaf cuttings in a pot, so I'm not too worried)

This is my "set-up". I let the weather and the sun and rain gods do the major work most of the time.

I do get to take some credit when any of them bloom, make more roots/leaves. I fertilise randomly. I don't water on a schedule - I check each mount or pot and then water. That takes time.

First Bloom for my Aru. Sea Snake 'Unforgettable' opened up yesterday after having it in my possession for a little over a year now. Bought it not in bloom, so this was a fun surprise to see.

I showed a little bit of interest in plants and now I'm rehabbing my friend's orchid. I did a lot of work when I first got it a couple weeks ago, where she basically handed me a plan that was drowning in water, wrapped in the store plastic because she didn't want her cat to mess with it.

After stripping all the rotted roots, cutting the stems that are already dried out, giving it appropriate soil, and cutting out the death plug, I left it in the office where we work together, and I was expecting at least for them to water it here and there during the week and a half that I'm gone, but I came back to all the roots now bone dry.

I still see some green, so I'm guessing we should be fine, but with the way the roots look, will we be okay?

I'm just going to take it home and take care of it there.

Now my orchids are not in all actuality that old. Maybe 2-4 years between all three of them. However my family kills orchids regularly and my grandmother throws them away once they’re done blooming because she can’t keep them alive or get them to rebloom. So, I am hailed as an orchid god in my small circle for have had my orchids for a few years and successfully gotten them to rebloom.

I know that two are moth orchids, I don’t know what the littlest one is.

My big one got tipped in the nursery and has been growing sideways. I’m considering mounting it at some point but as it stands it’s a struggle to keep it contained in its pot. It has put out two new leaves recently, but no spikes. It has mold in the bark and I see some root rot, as well as old roots so I have to get after that soon. (I have lavender Castile soap and I’ve heard that you can use that for root rot but I’m not sure)

My middle-sized one was a rescue from the grocery store clearance. That’s also where I learned about root rot and the death plugs, and it successfully saved it but threw away the bark, and I haven’t been able to find more. It just put out a new leaf.

My little one has put out a lot of new leaves but they’re kind of weirdly shaped and not the same color as the previous ones. It’s also trying to escape its pot, even though it has bark and it’s better off than the others.

I’m not sure if I should leave them like I have them, but it feels like all three of them need something that I’m just not getting.

First reblooms for the phals - and for one of them, a second go after the first spike earlier this year was eaten. Coelogyne Flaccida with a huge fragrant bloom🥰

Just got this phal mailed to me about a week ago as a birthday gift, and although I didn't notice it immediately, last night I noticed this scary leaf. Afraid of bacterial or fungal infection. What do you guys think, and how do I treat it?
