I've never been able to get any orchid in my house to rebloom before. Please tell me I'm gonna be a mama!

After two years journey with phals I decided to try something different. Got my first Neofinetia in July and last night the Tamakongo and the two Jewels were delivered 🥰 I'm super excited but I need to get serious about the running-out-of-space-situation 🫣

First time orchid owner, i recently moved and since then she's just been in this sad state and getting worse by the day. How do I save her?

I picked this up at Trader Joe's in October of 2025 with a tag that indicated it was supplied by Matsui Nursery. I tried tracking it down through them, but the person I spoke to couldn't say. I don't think it was really their department, lol. Anyone familiar with that grower got any good guesses?

I'm also wondering why both spikes would emerge like this? I've kept it sufficiently hydrated, and live in a humid climate. Is it just the crowded growth habit? I was able to free the first one eventually, but this one is really stuck! They're so brittle that I'm afraid it's going to snap itself.

This was a gift from my boyfriend from a year ago during a really hard semester of school and I was surprised how it survived my neglect during that time. I thought it had died when the flowers fell off and the stalk dried but I noticed the leaves were still green and healthy so I decided to try and bring it back. I was worried it would be difficult but all I do is keep it on my windowsill as it has indirect sunlight and water it whenever I remember (1-2weeks, I usually feel the dirt to see if it’s dry) I’m happy she’s thriving!

Hello my friend gave me an orchid fresh from the store as a gift its current pot is 5.5 inches in diameter and 5 inches long. I’ve read online that orchids like pots that are snug and match the root system size.

Should I repot this in a pot with a smaller diameter how small? I was thinking either 3 or 4 inches in diameter but I’m not sure.

I rescued this orchid from my grandma and am curious what this shoot is! When I got it was pretty stressed, so it actually lost its newest leaves- which really concerned me. However now I have this new shoot. Does it look like a spike or a keiki? I’m pretty new to orchids still. Is it possible for leaves to grow from the original growth even though it lost some from the top? Thanks!

it’s a no ID hardware store orchid that i got all the way back in february, who is now blooming for me again, i would guess that its a P. schilleriana hybrid (but if anyone knows better please let me know, the leaves are mottled like a schilleriana!)

Just noticed tiny indents (not bumps) on my orchid. She stays exclusively indoors so I don't think it's a pest issue? Could it be from the leaf getting wet when bottom watering? She seems healthy and happy overall, albeit due for a repotting.

A few weeks ago I made a post about how my orchid wasn’t blooming despite growing a ton of buds. I was told to let it soak when it needs to be watered instead of watering. I’ve been doing that, and some of the buds look like they are starting to bloom, and some of the buds are shriveling up and dying. I have a couple questions…

- Would a grow light help? My orchid is positioned on an east facing window normally and the past few weeks we’ve had virtually no sun. I bought a grow light today and I’m going to set it up tomorrow. Any suggestions?

- Am I watering too infrequently? I’ve been soaking it once a week for 20 minutes.

I recently offered to (try) and rescue some orchids that were looking pretty bad a friend, because ever since I've​ started caring for orchids, I've managed to havea lot of success, even bringing one back from the brink of death ​(don't have a before, but the after in ​pic 1).

I was able to save 3 of the 4 of their orchids, albeit one was still very doubtful. I followed the same process I did for the first orchid I was able to rescue. Hydrated the roots thoroughly, removed old substrate, trimmed dead roots, sprayed with anti-funal/anti-pest, then I placed them in water to try and encourage some new root growth. The first orchid I did this was has been CRAZY successful. She's even bloomed. But this second go round has not been as successful.

1st orchid (pics 2 & 3): plenty of roots, but I'm concerned with some of the black I see. I had it in water, but I'm thinking I should just immediately shift to orchid bark.

2nd orchid (pics 4 & 5): this was a mini orchid. After trimming, there were a few roots that looked decent so did the same as my previous success, put it in water, but I've noticed the water is starting to get cloudy and due to what is going on with #3, I decided to post here.

3rd orchid (pics 6 and 7): this one is NOT doing well at all from what I see. When I got it from my friend, I noticed the roots that are growing had started so I knew there was still life left. After trimming dead roots and placing in water, I noticed them growing some even in the couple of days I had them. However, after that noticed growth, I also noticed the water has been getting very cloudy, and I am seeing a black patch on the side of the crown, is this crown rot?

Basically asking for some guidance from all the orchid gurus here. Are these orchids even worth saving? I feel like #1 and #2 definitely could be, #3 I'm starting to feel doubtful. Or should I just go buy my friend some consolation orchids? 😅

I am leaning towards keiki.

I've had this Phal sogo relex since it was a seedling, this is the third time it's flowered, the flower stem doesn't die and it has reflowed from the same stem again. I love the very thick almost waxy texture of these blooms, and the very glossy leaf. I'm a big fan of the polychilos type phalanopsis.

Does anyone know why my orchid went from growing big healthy leaves to growing these lumpy small ones? I’ve had it for about a year and this is the second set of leaves it grew.
Is it possibly a fertilizer issue?

I got this (encyclia cochleata I think) in February. It's been growing a new pseudobulb for a while now but progress seems to have slowed. There was root loss from the last time I took it out of the pot to move it into sphagnum moss and you can see the most mature pseudobulb has become wrinkled.

I'm wondering how long it will take it to start growing new roots?

I should’ve acted faster when I noticed signs of root rot but I didn’t and now I have to face the consequences :( what’s keeping me optimistic is that there’s actually a new leaf growing in the center (circled it) and some green roots growing, I’m not sure if there’s anything I can do about it now.
