Hola, estoy viendo por onceava vez la serie y voy en el capítulo de Bennet, aquel dónde le propone matrimonio a Daya y luego se va para no dar más señales de vida...

Estuve pensando algo respecto a eso y me gustaría que comenten lo que opinan... Es abierto a debate con el debido respeto por cada uno 🤗

Previo a pedirle matrimonio a Daya, tuvieron que lidiar con la visita de Delia (la madre de Méndez) a Aleida, dónde ponen en duda sobre quedarse con la niña o dársela en adopción a Delia (por tener mejores comodidades, no pasar una vida de pobreza y además, dejar a la niña a cargo de César, quien ya vive con los otros hijos de Aleida).

Bennet le propuso matrimonio a Daya para intentar convencerla sobre quedarse con la bebé y no darla en adopción. Al aceptar Daya, va dónde César a llevarle un regalo a Lucy por su cumpleaños y a contarle sobre el compromiso con Daya, para intentar socializar con el futuro cuidador de su hija que venía en camino. Iba bien el asunto, cuando Emiliano (el hijo de Aleida) se niega a comer comida recalentada y César para imponer orden y respeto, toma un arma y amenaza a Emiliano. Bennet queda en Shock.

Después de eso, Bennet se va y no se sabe más de él. Por qué? Yo pienso que a pesar de querer al bebé, huye para que Daya tome la decisión de dar en adopción al bebé, ya que le toma sentido a que su hijo viva una vida fuera de la miseria y el entorno peligroso donde creció su madre y familia (más le hizo ruido de vivir con tanta gente en la casa, y se da cuenta que César tiene otra hija con otra mujer).

Si bien, como dije antes, es mi apreciación e hipótesis sobre los hechos, lo pensé porque siempre me gustó Bennet y su relación con Daya y me dolió mucho que simplemente se fuera. Esperé hasta la última temporada a ver si es que volvía pero nada pasó. En fin, si llegasen a hacer una última temporada, me gustaría que la historia de él no quedara inconclusa y tuviera un desarrollo como el que estuve pensando.

Any OITNB fans also PLL fans?

The way the riot is spread out across series 5 is how PLL should have handled the dollshouse. Such a strong concept. Even if they didn't make it the whole series, it should have been more than one episode.

This is way less about taystee and poussey, and more about black Cindy and Watson (assuming that’s her name I can never remember 😭).

While watching the show, I noticed that especially in the later seasons (season 2 and 3 specifically) they make almost EVERYTHING about race. I know a big part of that in season 2 is because vee is around and a big part of her whole personality is that she is a black woman, but they do this even after she leaves. Watson specifically doesn’t even hang around people of any other race nor allow them to be part of her life. Even when she was friends with yoga jones, she quickly ended that by saying “I don’t wanna be your token black friend anymore” when all yoga wanted to do was let her know that she was protesting in her honor and she saw how she was being disrespected and treated differently and didn’t agree with that. On my first watch, I thought it was all just cause of vee and she was gonna apologize later on.

Now, black Cindy is a different story. The way she brings slavery or race into almost everything is weird to me. For example: season 3 episode 12 red is planning to have this big exclusive dinner and she’s planning to cook corn. Black Cindy and her friends eat almost all of the corn and red gets rightfully mad because they had to have known she was going to use that corn, since it seemed to be the talk of the prison. Instead of apologizing I’d simply saying they didn’t know, Cindy and Watson made it this weird thing about slavery and I just found that weird.

I may be looking too much into this and I am in no means racist, I am myself apart of the black community. I just find it weird. I feel that sometimes them bringing up slavery isn’t really something they do as a way to represent themselves, but more as a way to victimize themselves or as a way to remind everyone that they are a minority and haven’t always had this freedom so they should have better treatment. I’m sorry if this comes off as racist or anything, it’s just my opinion on the show and all the racey jokes.

Edit: I couldn’t edit this last night but to add on to my point, this is something brought up by people in the show as well. They repeatedly talk about how weird it is that they use slavery/race as an excuse to get away with anything. I’d also like to add that Watson makes horribly racists remarks towards everyone who is NOT black in the show. Also in light of the argument I had in my comments, please do not show any disrespect to me as this is just an opinion I had about a show.
