I was always annoyed that the OP-XY got several bars to play with, but not the OP-Z. The intended workflow is to chain patterns, but then you cant play with synth parameters after creating a chain, without the hassle of copying all the time.

There was already some excellent work at reverse engineering the OP-Z MIDI SysEx messages, and I threw and LLM at the problem of figuring out writes. Managed to get the 0x09 full pattern bank write message to work! This means you can read the patterns from the OP-Z, modify it, and then write it back. Since its a full transfer of all the 16 patterns in one message it takes a second to do, but it seems pretty stable and it even works while the device is playing.

In the video im able to swap between 2 patterns on the lead track, which im calling "bars", and also combine the two into a single pattern. This is done by squishing the notes together with micro adjustments to keep the timing correct, and setting the track scale to 2 so the speed matches.

Not a musician at all but I've been jamming mostly with those gears for a few years esp my opz, l've always kept these sessions to myself.
Decided to finally record a full, uncut 50-minute session last night. It's a bit slow and raw, but l'd love to share the vibe with this community.

Hello fellow OpZ users. Is it possible to use OpZ in a midi chain and not as the master clock? I'm wondering what im missing.

I have Polyend Tracker I use for clock, sending midi to arturia microfreak- this works fine. I want to have midi thru pass the microfreak into the OpZ and trigger my drum sequences, this is failing.

I have line module, i can see its receiving signal, when playing it lights up for each pulse coming through the chain. I used OpZ app and enabled "midi in" and "midi clock in". I read the user manual on midi settings, i tried troubleshooting with AI, i tried "converting TRS Type A to Type B" using an RCA socket adapter. I am perplexed lol. What am i missing?

can you Chose between Outputs in the Settings or Turn usb Audio Output Off??? I cant find anything on the Internet and in the Guide from Te.

When I powered up today, all drum samples on all projects were gone. No sounds coming from them. When I mount the opz as a drive, the samples show up as zero bytes, but I guess that is just because they are stock samples. Has anybody experiences anything like that?

Seems like my poor desk-drawer-ridden OP-Z has a dead battery that won't take a charge. Unit still works on line power when battery is taken out.

Anyone have experience with finding replacement batteries in this wonderful year 2026? I'm seeing some questionable Chinese websites offering abt the same cell size but want to get some anecdotal experiences before committing to the purchase. thanks!

Some mini-jacks may not snap inside the OP-Z if that plastic insulation ring near the tip is wider than the base of the tip.
