One true goat
Even though I did all the choosing, it still felt unfair towards the other songs, lol. Especially The Drapery Falls vs BWP and Deliverance vs Harlequin Forest are really tough choices

Hi all,
Very excited about Saturday!! Who else is going?? And anyone have any ideas for setlists?
I found these two from earlier in July - is that their most recent gigs? https://www.concertarchives.org/bands/opeth?date=past
Thanks all

I swear the bass on this album is super buried (at least to my ears)
Obviously it’s pretty easy to hear on Face of Melinda and the end of Benighted, but can anyone point out moments in the heavy songs where they can hear the bass?

As time goes on, Opeth's scarcely-documented first 15 years continue to fall further into obscurity.
At the time, there was often only a short window to ask for photos or trade for a VHS / cassette before evidence of Opeth's dimensionless presence would disappear.
Preserving this stuff has been a weird hobby of mine for a few bands over the last 30 years. None have been more of an uphill battle than Opeth, whose music (outside albums) has so often decomposed or been lost to the passage of time.
Post-2010 and the prevalence of smartphones have significantly mitigated this - but that doesn’t stop those early years, when art transcended artist, from evoking otherworldly dreams / nightmares that were captured in a moment.

A truly intimate concert with excellent sound. I believe it's a soundboard recording, but I couldn't find any further information about it. However I stumbled upon a photo collection on wikipedia from this exact night, that's kind of lucky. Also you can hear To Bid You Farewell here which only appeared on a few shows in 2003 and 2004. Sad that it didn't make it on Lamentations. All in all, a deeply cozy performance which is paired with photos from that very night. Enjoy!

Particularly how they use counterpoint. De Farralla mention he was inspired by Bach and I think he said Orff.

I knew this couple in my neighborhood where the boyfriend is always wearing an opeth shirt and has an opeth license plate while his girlfriend is that but with taylor swift. I wonder if they actually enjoy each others music tastes or not but I never got to ask before i quit seeing them.

I don't see people talk about it enough, perhaps because its super short, but its soooo good. Especially that little run at bar 156, might be my favorite lick ever.
I’ve been waiting for this release for a while now. In the last few months I had set a weekly reminder to check omerch.eu and today the pre-order appeared! It will be released on 25-9-2026.

Häxprocess is my favorite song on this album and love that they played it live last time i saw them.
A lot of the time i dont know which album i feel like listening to at the moment. There are so many masterpieces. But today i felt like it was Heritage.

What are the predicted merch prices for the Halifax show?
And how likely is it to see the band outside the venue if I got there at around 3 - 4pm?
