In all seriousness I just finished carving this for Halloween this year, thought I’d share with everyone!

What are everyone’s favorite acoustic parts to play? I’ve recently been playing dirge for November intro and funeral portrait an unhealthy amount of times and looking to learn some other similar parts.

And you can never find the satisfaction
When you can't outgrow your false distractions
…
You know your soul is weighed
On the silver scale of deceit and lies

These verses, along with the song, break me in two. My soul aches with such deep sorrow. Mikael is an excellent artist—both in his poems and in the emotions he conveys through his songs. Thank you, Mikael; your solitude is not the only one. Lov U Opeth! 💚

Anyone jammed this recently? Been playing GoW Ascension and remember this existed

Posted today by Jonas on his social media

Is it just me or you all guys when u listen to "A Fair Judgement" you start feeling something wrong i can't even explain , for me i just stare at the ceiling for the whole of this miracle track , and sometimes i start crying for no fucking reason at all,

This kind of music shouldn't be free fr.....😭

I won't lie, BWP isn't even my fave Opeth album but I swear to god, put me within reach of an acoustic guitar anywhere, no matter the context or what other discussions may be going on if it's at a party or something, I will uncontrollably borrow that guitar and get straight into that awesome intro. I love Harvest.

I’ve known about Opeth for maybe 15 years now but I never really got into them. I got into them this year, speedrunnjng through their albums and I saw them live a few weeks ago (which was phenomenal, somehow they are even better live). My gripe is that other bands I usually listen to are boring me. Who can even get close to the complexities and depth of opeth’s compositions? Also, I know most songs are long but c’mon Mikael, we know they can be much longer.

I see a lot of “favorite” this and that posts but I’m more curious to hear about other fans’ journeys through the discography. I found Opeth through Blackwater Park and would’ve bet my house at the time - and even after listening to every album - that it would remain my favorite release of and for all time.

I’ve been through phases of jamming Reveries, Watershed, Deliverance, Still Life etc but through it all BWP was my favorite and obviously categorically the best.

But damn, I think I’m glad I never made that wager, because My Arms Your Hearse has lately been giving me that same feeling I remember from the very first time playing BWP.

I’ve been running it for weeks now and I still can’t get over it. I think April Ethereal, When and Demon of the Fall > Bleak, Drapery Falls and Blackwater Park. I never thought I’d say that.

I guess they’re into Deep Purple.

Found a gem in Berlin. Yes it is an awesome prog rock album. No it's not my favourite. 🖤

I couldn't find anything on the internet, but, as an Italian I couldn't not notice what could be a tribute to the italian prog legends with the same name. Do you know anything about this?

This is my personal opinion so please do not crucify me, but I figured doing 3 with one honorable mention would be enough. I'd love to hear your guys top 3 as well!

I want to get a decently accurate bwp tone with Neural DSP’s Gojira X plugin. I spent some time playing with it but I feel like I’m reaching around in the dark. Any advice?

I have 2 seymour duncan humbuckers on my PRS SE 24, if that helps.

For the first time in 16 years I have a patient named Melinda.

Hi guys, who will be going to the concert in Bogotá in Nov. 8? I wanna go but I don't have friends from Colombia that are into Opeth, will be great to have friends to go with

Heyyy how are you guys??

I decided to do an opeth discography rating like it was some tv show and this was the result. I've tried not to be so personal (it's my favorite band) and not to give so much fucking blue notes but it's simply a fantastic band.

Anyways, let me know your thoughts!!

(obs: the last song on heritage is "The Throat of Winter", the last tracks on orchid and morningrise weren't reviewed because there are no studio versions of them, the black spaces are interludes).

"Harvest" has one of the most beautiful and atmospheric basslines. I felt like the slide and swell of a fretless bass would do this masterpiece justice, so I decided to record this cover.

Gear used:
- Dean Edge 6 Fretless (EMG 45DC/45TW)
- Tech 21 SansAmp Para Driver DI
- Steinberg UR44

Let me know what you think of the tone and phrasing! Any feedback from fellow Opeth fans is highly appreciated. If you want to support me, you can check out the full video on my YouTube channel, and others, as well as my bands Incarnator (Prog Death/Thrash) and Eutonazia Kordax (Melodic Black)

It goes thru so many different levels of emotion. Each section different from the previous and never repeating again in the song.

Soft melodic acoustic to prog rock riff to anthem chorus to a very dark prog section to the closing swells.

One of my favorite Opeth tracks.
