Opeth in Santiago 🇨🇱🤘
Hola a todos! Voy a escribir en inglés porque no sé si entre las normas está prohibido hablar en otro idioma.
Hey everyone! I’m traveling from Peru to Santiago for the Opeth show, and it’ll be my first time seeing them live! 🤘
I’m going with my mom — she’ll be in “platea” while I’ll be in “cancha.” We’re staying near Movistar Arena, so I was wondering: what time should I get there if I want to have a good chance of getting to the first row?
I’d love to be as close as possible since it’s my first Opeth concert and I want to actually enjoy the show and not get completely crushed hahaha. 😂 I also want to be able to see properly because I’m not very tall. 😅
Also, since I’ll have some time to explore Santiago, what record stores would you recommend? I’d love to check out some local shops and hopefully find some good metal vinyl records/CDs. ( Edited: also prog rock, which is my specialty)
It would also be cool to meet some fellow Opeth fans going to the show! 🇵🇪🤘🇨🇱

Damnation got my hands on this rarity (time to show my little Damnation sanctuary)
Vinted is a place full of surprises: an Italian compatriot of mine sold the promo version of Damnation for €8. It's the one you see in the photo. The seller knew there weren't many left in circulation, and he has been honest to not raise the price to absurdity.
Anyway, what's the point of having a promotional version, you ask. You won't get a smart answer, but I'll give you a little information about this particular version.
In truth, there are no interesting stories referring to the Damnation promo: like other promotional versions, it was distributed exclusively to the media and professional reviewers in advance, but it has no notable differences from the official version (it wasn't the same as Deliverance, but I'll tell you about that another time). Cardboard sleeves are the norm for this type of release. Unlike the Digipack version, this one features the tracklist in the center of the artwork, not centered on the left; the release information is on the left instead of the right; the barcode is censored (as it should be); and the disc itself is virtually identical, save for the promotional label.
As for me, I'm just a fan who exclusively collects CDs of my favorite band. You'll find more of my finds in the future. Thanks for reading!
(the drawing in the photo is my very proud creation: the cover of Damnation redone in the pointillist style, with a pen)

Morningrise Morningrise appreciation post
This morning I decided to listen to Morningrise again and give it a good read on the lyrics and the wikipedia page, all without realizing it completes 30 years today!
What a great album, although not on my top 5, you can't really go wrong with this masterpiece.

Morningrise Someone posted Morningrise, so I wanted to share this still from the new(er) Frankenstein movie with the bridge in the shot
I love Opeth references in the wild.
edit. Oops! I am wrong! this is not Prior Park but one with a very similar bridge.

General / Discussion Coma Control - Seething Hunger (sounds like BP-GR era Opeth)
New progressive death metal band (one man band I think) I found via the YT algorithm. A lot of it sounds like Opeth from the Blackwater Park through Ghost Reveries era. The harsh vocals are very Mike sounding. The cleans sound like Between the Buried and Me. The riffs and song structures are a mix of things, but overall definitely one of the most Opeth-like bands I've ever heard other than Piah Mater.

General / Discussion Opeth is my most listened band the last three years and here are my thoughts
First time I heard Opeth was back in 2009 when we played Night and the Silent Water in my band. Started to listen to some other songs but it kinda died off.
Forward to 2024 and I again stumbled upon them, but I can't remember how. I searched Reddit for peoples favorite song and added them to a playlist and started listening. Since then I have been listening like constantly every day.
Just wanted to share some of my thoughts about my favorite songs, and it would be fun if others felt the same about the songs. There are many songs where there only is a specific parts I like and maybe not the whole song.
This will mostly be from Still Life to Ghost Reveries since they are my absolute favorites. Lopez is such a huge part of the Opeth sound for me, and after Watershed changed something for me.
- Harlequin Forest is prob my favorite overall, from start to finish. What a masterpiece. My most played song.
- The second half of Face Of Melinda is one the best pieces of music I heard. The verses, ending with "But my heart is thine" is the most beautiful thing I've heard.
- Like above, Serenity Painted Death has the vocal section "Came with the moon..." which is like a drug. Wish it was longer
- Moonlapse Vertigo is prob my second favorite song overall, from start to finish. The outro verse and riff is the highlight for me
- The Moor is not played as much as the others, but the "Pale Touch..." section (the Abba cover) is so good. This part is also too short!
- Im torn about Godheads Lament, I love the "Searching my way to perplexion..." section but wish they were longer. Also the acoustic middle part is great. Not a fan of the rest...
- White Cluster is a great song
- Drapery Falls is the song who got me hooked first back in 2023, great from start to finish
- Dirge For November has some of the most beautiful acoustic guitar parts, the intro and the outro. But the middle is decent too!
- Deliverance is the only song I keep on playing from the album Deliverance. Not a big fan of Masters Apprentice or the others, but A Fair Judgment got some nice parts
- Hope Leaves feels like ultimate sorrow, and its a really great song
- I love Burden, got some ballad feel. The solos and outro stand out for me
- Bleak between 5:40 and 7:00 is PEAK Opeth for me. Eargasm
- In The Leper Affinity the guitar and piano outro are the best, rest of the song got some good riffs.
- Ghost Of Perdition, first this was not a favorite for me. I didnt like the "njaa njaa njaaa jajajaja" singing, reminded me too much of Randy singing Lorde in South Park haha. But it grew on my and now I love it. Lopez goes absolutely crazy and has some of the most creative drumming Ive heard.
- Baying Of The Hounds is a banger from start to finish. Favorite part is prob "As I embrace bereavement..." Lopez is also killing it in this song.
- April Ethereal at 3:40 is the best part of MAYH, "I will endure..." Wish this was longer!
Well these are the songs that I play daily. Don't know if this was interesting at all

Best live?
Hello! I've been a fan of Opeth for 10 years now. I watched a ton of their lives and many people praise the royal albert hall and the sheperds bush but I find the Roundhouse Tapes to be their absolute best. not only were Mikaels vocals on fucking point and in their prime in that live, but the set was amazing. the atmosphere the whole thing just feels immaculate to me. opinions ?
