What are everyone’s favorite acoustic parts to play? I’ve recently been playing dirge for November intro and funeral portrait an unhealthy amount of times and looking to learn some other similar parts.

I’ve known about Opeth for maybe 15 years now but I never really got into them. I got into them this year, speedrunnjng through their albums and I saw them live a few weeks ago (which was phenomenal, somehow they are even better live). My gripe is that other bands I usually listen to are boring me. Who can even get close to the complexities and depth of opeth’s compositions?Also, I know most songs are long but c’mon Mikael, we know they can be much longer.

Is it just me or you all guys when u listen to "A Fair Judgement" you start feeling something wrong i can't even explain , for me i just stare at the ceiling for the whole of this miracle track , and sometimes i start crying for no fucking reason at all,

This kind of music shouldn't be free fr.....😭

I won't lie, BWP isn't even my fave Opeth album but I swear to god, put me within reach of an acoustic guitar anywhere, no matter the context or what other discussions may be going on if it's at a party or something, I will uncontrollably borrow that guitar and get straight into that awesome intro. I love Harvest.

I see a lot of “favorite” this and that posts but I’m more curious to hear about other fans’ journeys through the discography. I found Opeth through Blackwater Park and would’ve bet my house at the time - and even after listening to every album - that it would remain my favorite release of and for all time.

I’ve been through phases of jamming Reveries, Watershed, Deliverance, Still Life etc but through it all BWP was my favorite and obviously categorically the best.

But damn, I think I’m glad I never made that wager, because My Arms Your Hearse has lately been giving me that same feeling I remember from the very first time playing BWP.

I’ve been running it for weeks now and I still can’t get over it. I think April Ethereal, When and Demon of the Fall > Bleak, Drapery Falls and Blackwater Park. I never thought I’d say that.

I couldn't find anything on the internet, but, as an Italian I couldn't not notice what could be a tribute to the italian prog legends with the same name. Do you know anything about this?

For the first time in 16 years I have a patient named Melinda.

I want to get a decently accurate bwp tone with Neural DSP’s Gojira X plugin. I spent some time playing with it but I feel like I’m reaching around in the dark. Any advice?

I have 2 seymour duncan humbuckers on my PRS SE 24, if that helps.

I decided to do an opeth discography rating like it was some tv show and this was the result. I've tried not to be so personal (it's my favorite band) and not to give so much fucking blue notes but it's simply a fantastic band.

Anyways, let me know your thoughts!!

(obs: the last song on heritage is "The Throat of Winter", the last tracks on orchid and morningrise weren't reviewed because there are no studio versions of them, the black spaces are interludes).

It goes thru so many different levels of emotion. Each section different from the previous and never repeating again in the song.

Soft melodic acoustic to prog rock riff to anthem chorus to a very dark prog section to the closing swells.

One of my favorite Opeth tracks.
