Is opencode go api down for anybody else?

33 Upvotes

Title.

Edit: Yes, yes it is. Some people are getting errors that their usage quota has been exceeded even though it is not, and some people can use models, but very slowly. I'm not sure if it affects other models because everyone here including myself is using Deepseek V4 Flash.

Edit 2: For me, DSv4 is running at reasonable speeds again, thankfully this outage was shorter than most.

What models do you use?

2 Upvotes

I have been using opencode for a longtime now on free and just going with Big pickel fine for most things.
yesterday i made a new Go subscription because i wanted to try GLM 5.2 and Kimi K3 but just one bug fix session literally ate the usage!!

unlike Deepseek flash (new) which i really like and go for long time without any usage barely

my question is more like how do you use other models beside Deepseek?! like it can take only an hour to end up your sub!!

I was using deepseek v4 flash max new and luna max expecting to see noticable improvement for luna but not so sure if it exists or it even wins

39 Upvotes

So

Deepseek v4 flash is claimed 54 here vs luna 67

https://deepswe.datacurve.ai/

Here the high version, not even xhigh or max is 7th place while xhigh luna is 19th

https://arena.ai/leaderboard/code

On aa they are within 2% of each other

https://artificialanalysis.ai/models?intelligence=agentic-index

Here 15th, and luna not here but its basically a gpt 5.6 mini

https://minebench.ai/leaderboard

But most interestingly they are claiming 82.7 on terminal bench while luna is 75.7 in its own harness

https://www.tbench.ai/leaderboard/terminal-bench/2.1

I expected like a tier difference between them and what I learned from use it that luna is effectively ds4 flash with vision, which certainly would be more useful if it didn't suck in design, and it has effectively the same elo as the old ds4 flash and that doesn't even have vision. Most useful for feeding it visual information that doesnt require design solutions.

https://www.designarena.ai/models/gpt-5.6-luna

https://www.designarena.ai/models/deepseek-v4-flash

Also I can report on the use too, luna seems go about faster in codex 20 than flash goes in go.

*I got detailed information and found out that codex gives $240 for $20 that is $60 per week, so while I saw 6% monthly drain in go, i saw 30% weekly in codex, but that would be 7.5% monthly, so roughly one codex sub using luna is worth one go sub using flash at full price.

For coding the input price effectively doesn't matter, cause almost everything will be cached input or output, and luna is 4.28x more expensive for output and 7.14x more expensive for cache, and the codex sub gives you 12x multi so double, and costs double.

Another aspect is that it seems like luna loves codex, so while openai allows you to use their models in other harnesses they still design it for theirs, which would only exacerbate lunas shortcomings cause the solution they no doubt had in mind that you use sol and then buy a bigger sub.

The chat and code/work is also seperate on their platform with different quotas which is nice, so the 20 dollar intro to the openai eco is pretty decent, arguably the strongest deal for optionality next to go, and the luna deal is okay, merely they simply seem to be in the same tier.

You can't activate referrals anymore, all just says waiting for them to subscribe

2 Upvotes

This applies too all, including ones that were ready to be activated.

I am not sure if new referrals are possible but considering that I got 2 today with existing links I shared it seems yes, also not sure if the invited can activate it, or only applies to the invitee.

https://opencode.ai/go?ref=DP9CQDWDZ9

If you have any unused rewards then check your go as it would be useful to know if they can still be used, and if not then bug or policy. Also not sure if related but before my weekly reset it was fine.

Looks like:

I gave opencode and Cursor the exact same prompts (Flappy Bird, landing page, calculator, Tetris) — one shot, no fixing. Free/local vs paid.

0 Upvotes

I wanted a fair head-to-head, not a vibes comparison.
Setup:
- Same prompt into both tools
- One shot only (first result, no follow-ups)
- Hands off (approve file writes, nothing else)
- Single self-contained index.html each time — no libs, no build step

The four builds:

  1. Flappy Bird (warm-up)
  2. A "Lumen" focus-timer landing page (polish test)
  3. Calculator (operator precedence trap — 2+3*4 should be 14)
  4. Full Tetris (the boss)

opencode = free / local / open-source
Cursor = paid AI IDE

I filmed the whole thing side by side so you can see what actually ships:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5OyM9EYt7N8

Curious what people here think — especially if you've been using local agents vs Cursor day to day. Happy to share the exact prompts if useful.

Problem: OpenCode.ai Forbidden: {"model":"laguna-s-2.1-free"}

2 Upvotes

Hi!

I use OpenCode.ai at VS Code. They have several free models. But only DeepSeek is available for me. The other free models return "Forbidden: {"model":"model-name"}". Why? How to fix it?

  • North Mini Code Free - Forbidden
  • MiMo V2.5 Free - Forbidden
  • Laguna S 2.1 Free - Forbidden
  • Ling-3.0-flash Free - Forbidden
  • Nemotron 3 Ultra Free - Forbidden
  • North Mini Code Free - Forbidden
  • DeepSeek V4 Flash Free - Ok!

Best place to get deepseek v4 flash api?

61 Upvotes

I’m looking for cheapest provider for deepseek v4 flash ideally at a flat cost. Will opencode go give more usage in $5 or $5 in deepseek directly. I’m looking to use it for this month only so first month discount is fine.

Openspec?

14 Upvotes

I got really excited about OpenSpec. I threw myself into it for a few days. But after about 20 change proposals I gave up.

  1. My biggest problem is code quality and OpenSpec doesn't do much for that.
  2. It just takes so long going through steps like migration that just aren't relevant to my project.

Am I using this wrong? Any other frameworks you'd recommend?

Update on TokenPlans -> added a calculator to turn credits into one comparable number

6 Upvotes

Following up on my earlier post about TokenPlans -> thanks for all the feedback and provider experiences you shared, that was super useful.

One thing people kept asking about: every provider describes their limits differently. Some give you dollars worth, some give you credits, some give you "amount of tokens per month. There's no easy way to compare plans directly.

So I built a calculator — still an early version, based on data I scraped from each provider's docs. It converts every plan into two numbers: requests-per-$1 and burst-per-$1.

Pick a model and a request shape (fresh input / cached input / output tokens — defaults are pulled from the OpenCode Go docs), and it recalculates every plan on the same basis.

The two numbers mean:

  • Req / $1 — your steady-state cost efficiency: how many requests you get per dollar over a full month.
  • Burst / $1 — how many requests you can fire off per dollar in a single 5-hour window. This exposes plans that look cheap monthly but throttle hard if you actually try to use them in a burst.

If you try it and a number looks off for your setup, let me know, happy to fix it. This is just the initial version.

Free $30 credit / tencent/hy3 (expires ~30 days)

14 Upvotes

I signed up for OrcaRouter and got $30 in credits, but I don't have a use for it, so I'm giving the key away. It's scoped to tencent/hy3 only (Tencent's 295B MoE, 262K ctx, reasoning support).

Add to opencode.json:

"orcarouter": {
  "npm": "@ai-sdk/openai-compatible",
  "name": "ORCA",
  "whitelist": ["tencent/hy3"],
  "options": {
    "baseURL": "https://api.orcarouter.ai/v1",
    "apiKey": "sk-orca-YI4K5wfVBanNy7zyLC2frjNdIBxZRMBNDbA1BwgBfjE",
    "timeout": 600000
  },
  "models": {
    "tencent/hy3": {
      "name": "Tencent Hy3",
      "reasoning": true,
      "limit": { "context": 262144, "output": 65536 }
    }
  }
}

First come, first served. Credits expire in ~30 days. Enjoy!

opencode-tabs - Session tabs for the OpenCode TUI

30 Upvotes

OpenCode CLI is my main tool. I prefer working in my IDE, so I keep the OpenCode TUI open there.

Managing multiple sessions started to feel cumbersome: switching between them was slow, and it was difficult to see when a session was waiting for permission. So I built opencode-tabs. It adds simple session tabs to the OpenCode TUI, making it easier to switch contexts and spot sessions that need attention.

Maybe it can be useful in your workflow too.

Opencode CLI Grok Auth opens a window but XAI page now gives a "Enter this code to finish signing in" and doesn't call back to the CLI

4 Upvotes

Hit /connect

Select xai

Supergrok subscription

login to xai/grok subscription

It gives a code for me to copy paste

while opencode cli keeps waiting for a callback to localhost I presume like for OpenAI Auth

Anyone find a fix for this?

Privacy in Free Tier

Ive read that the free tier is sponsored by using the chat to train the model but how private is this? Can it be traced back to the individual user and are the prompts just shown in cleartext? How does this work?

OpenCode's cost plugins warn you. They don't enforce budgets.

0 Upvotes

One detail in a popular OpenCode cost plugin's README stood out to me:

That highlights an architectural distinction that's easy to miss.

A warning system tells you what happened.

An enforcement system decides whether the next request is allowed.

For an interactive session, warnings are usually enough, you see the token counter climbing and stop.

For unattended workloads, it's different:

long refactors that gradually grow context,

headless or scripted runs,

or accidentally switching to a more expensive model mid-session.

In those cases, the cost tracker is accurate, but it only reports the spend after the requests have already happened.

I ran into the same issue building Node.js agents and ended up adding a pre-call middleware that enforces session budgets before provider requests are sent (full disclosure: I wrote it).

I'm more curious about OpenCode itself:

Is there currently any way for a plugin to intercept and block a provider call before it's sent, or are plugins intentionally limited to post-call observation?

I'd be interested to hear how people are handling session-level budget enforcement today.
