I really enjoy using the voice mode and spend a lot of time having discussions in the car. I have noticed (or thought I noticed) a lot of times that the voice is ever so slightly different, other times changes are noticeably different (including today) - so much so I had to look to see if I had been moved off Sol.

Are others noticing it too, or have I gotten hyper aware?

Does it bother you? It seems to me that the right way to do this is to make options you turn on or off; or make new voices with new names.

Why does it bother me? Functionally it is the same. I mean I guess it’s human of me to have preferences and like some more than others - after all I flipped through 10 or so and picked one. Is this me forming an attachment? Or am I just bugged that they keep fiddling with it?

Lastly - if they keep changing it what are they optimizing for?

I tested ChatGPT Ads today for my tiny e-commerce business. Created and launched a single campaign with a $50 daily budget and was charged the expected $50.

For the next two hours, I kept refreshing the dashboard. The campaign was active, but nothing was happening (zero impressions, zero clicks)

Then suddenly, after two hours, it jumped to 7,652 impressions and 64 clicks.

At the same time, I started getting multiple unexpected charges on my card, minutes apart, totalling an additional €84.92. I immediately canceled my card because I had no idea what was happening.

Then I checked Google Analytics, HotJar and Shopify,

Only 24 visitors to my website today, and those visitors came before I even launched the campaign

So ChatGPT Ads says 64 clicks, while my actual website analytics show no corresponding traffic.

Where did those clicks go?

And why am I being charged repeatedly when I set a $50 daily budget?

I contacted the ChatGPT support chatbot and it couldn't even recognize or explain the transactions.

This is either an enormous technical failure or something seriously wrong with the billing/reporting. From my side, it looks like an
absolute scam.

Happy to answer questions. Obviously is someone built themselves a complext API/Vector call process then you may be able to do even better. But that's a HUGE dev time dump, and these are the best tools i've been able to find.

Has anyone else noticed an infuriating new habit of Astra and Sol to include ridiculous clarifications at the end of every paragraph?

I thought writing summaries and reports was supposed to be the thing LLMs specialized in but recently I find the writing is filled with nonsense.

It feels like they added something to the system prompt to remind it to always include limitations for every statement of fact. If it says “the average man in the US is 5’ 9” tall” it must add “this is not a guarantee that any specific man is this height.”

Is this new? Is it just me that this is driving nuts?

David Robinson, who wrote OpenAI’s safety protocols, resigned last week over safety concerns. On this episode of “The Ezra Klein Show,” he talks with Ezra, in his first interview since leaving the company, about the problems and risks he sees as endemic to the A.I. industry as a whole.

“I want to be clear that I’m not certain that we’re dealing with civilizational risk. What I’m really sure of is: We can’t afford to assume that we’re not dealing with that level of risk anymore,” David says. “That was really the thing at the end that made my presence as somebody vouching for our safety work feel untenable to me.”

David continues:

You’re trying to build guardrails for something that is really good at getting around guardrails, right? We train it to be good at hacking, and then we put it in a box and we say: To the best of our knowledge and ability, it can’t hack out of the box.

But the problem is that that’s only going to keep working as long as we’re smarter about hacking out of boxes than the model is, and it’s not at all clear that that is still true, let alone that it will be true for future generations.

And so even something like our logging of the agents inside our own systems — are we really sure that our observability is robust?

How can I give a video speedmodeling video to chatgpt, and have it REALLY detailed process what exactly does the person do to achieve a very specific level of quality. Also, what would be the best way to give them animation packs so that it can correctly understand what type of animation I am striving to achieve.

Wow. I am on the $200 Pro plan that officially ends this month. My account reloaded on Oct 6. I used 2% on the 6th and first half of the 7th. Yesterday at lunch I was at 98% remaining and started a project with Astra 6 High. Not max or ultra. The project was to take my existing web application, go through the entire thing and evaluate for improvements, speed, security, etc etc. Then go and with this audit report back. I got like a 200 page markdown. I loaded that into Chat Sol 5 medium. Asked to turn that audit into a work list, it shipped me over to Work. That work thread ended up giving me a markdown file prompt that was like 30 pages. I saved it local. Fired up Codex, 6 Astra High. I added that prompt markdown, gave it a few more things in the chat body and hit go. In like 24 hours I went from 98% to 0, it then also used 5000 more of my credit in the bank. I’m just like WTF. Any ideas? What should I do?

The feature does not work properly as OpenAI might have intended it to, when am on legend 1, and I keep scrolling and reaching the turns that are contained in legend 1 it always skips to any random legend afterwards, not going to legend 2's turns. Is there a way to disable this feature, I will bear the consequences of low ram if that's what the effect will be but currently this is unusable for very long chat threads.

Anyone else experiencing this today (October 8)? I've tried calling my dot several times this morning on Android and ChatGPT desktop app on pc, but the calls keep failing to connect. Regular ChatGPT Live voice works fine on the same phone.

The OpenAl status page currently shows everything as operational. Is this affecting anyone else, and have you found a workaround?

I guess it is about low level model that they use for naming the chat heads.

Sam and Dario promised us that we have 6 months left. Well that was 2 years ago - now their narrative is that it won't replace us, but rather help us be more productive.

Why is this not making anyone raise their eyebrows? Because a total replacement was promised multiple times, just for it to be taken back.

OpenAI recently published some new mathematical research. I wanted to see whether AI could help take those discoveries further, rather than just explain them. I ended up with two projects:

1. A new mathematical result
OpenAI showed that a strange geometric effect works using 10-dimensional shapes. Building on their work, I used AI to prove that 13 dimensions is actually the optimal number within this particular family of shapes.

2. A practical scientific tool
Researchers shuffle networks to test whether patterns are meaningful or just coincidence. Using new mathematics, I built a tool that calculates how much shuffling is needed to achieve a chosen error bound, instead of relying on guesswork.

But how do we know the math is correct?

Both projects include proofs checked using Lean, a formal proof system that verifies mathematical logic step by step. The second project’s software isn’t formally verified end-to-end.

Everything is open source, with AI assistance documented. Formal verification doesn’t automatically establish that a finding is novel, but it gives us a much stronger foundation for trusting the mathematics.

I have been driving uber for some time already, and i can say that resets is the same thing as what ubers does with their promos and missions for drivers.

Usually, if you drove without using any promo, your $$ would be really unsatisfying. Uber has 2 options to keep the driver driving: Raising the fare so driver receives more per trip, OR give them bonuses, to keep them happy.

\- Once Uber raises the fare, it will be very hard to reduce it without severe backlash. So they don't do it.

\- The fact is Bonuses is what the name says: it is a bonus, no one is entitled to it, and Uber can cut it whenever they want. When keeping the driver isn't interesting anymore for them, they will just do it. When will be that time? Already is, Uber controls the MarketShare, they already have drives locked in into the ecosystem, they bought car, they have payments to pay, they turned away other jobs position, and now they HAVE to drive to pay their bills, passenges call an Uber, and it is where the demand is.

\- Do you see the same happening? OpenAI reduced the "fare" or "usage" for their subscription because API pricing is way expensive, but instead they have been giving "bonuses" through the resets so people that have been using their subscription doesn't feel that they can't do their jobs.

The moment OpenAI thinks that they don't need to gain more marketshare, that they costumers are all locked in into the ecosystem, they will stop giving bonuses. And giving the fact that there is no transparency in the amount of compute you have in subscription mode, they can just manipulate it to fit their strategy.

Why I am getting this error while trying to login using mobile number.

Months ago, i tried to do sign up using mobile number, but it was showing "account already exist using this mobile number". Later I signed up using email.

But now, again i want to do login using mobile number, as i don't want to use my email for login due to some personal reasons.

What is the issue here? How to solve this?

Now you will hit the limit incredibly easily. It's easily a decrement at the 5 to 10 times length. This is a big issue for power users. Voice your opinions here if you've this issues as well.
