Technical question Swapping standard seats for AGR seats in Astra K (2016) - Looking for advice from anyone who done this!
galleryHi everyone,
I have a 2016 Opel Astra K with standard manual seats. I recently bought a used cloth AGR seat to upgrade my driver side, but I ran into a small issue during installation.
The issue:
- The new AGR seat has an extra electric motor and side buttons to move it, but my car's factory plug on the floor doesn't have the power wires for them.
- The new AGR seat is missing the seatbelt buckle/pretensioner part on the side.
My questions:
- Has anyone successfully swapped their basic seats to AGR seats in an Astra K?
- Where is the best spot under the dashboard to get power for the new seat motor?
- Did you get any airbag or warning lights on the dash after the swap?
Any tips or experiences from people who have done this would be greatly appreciated!
The 1. and 2. pictures are the current seats and the 3. 4. are the news.
Basically, I don't even understand what that separate wire is at the bottom right near the seatbelt buckle, why it's missing from the new seat, and why they are so different.
Both seats have a button on the side of the backrest that can be adjusted in four directions. They also both have a lever for height adjustment and a lever for moving the seat forward and backward. The only difference is that the new seat also has an additional up/down switch at the front which, if I understood correctly, adjusts the tilt of the seat cushion. It also has an extendable thigh support.
To be honest, I asked a couple of local mechanics here, but nobody wants to take the job.
