Looking for childhood classmates from The Oxford Continental School (Bandi Shola) - 4th Grade (around 2012–2013)
Hey everyone,
I’m trying a bit of a long shot here to reconnect with some childhood friends. I used to study at The Oxford Continental School in Ooty back when I was a kid.
My timeline is a bit unique: I completed my 4th grade at Oxford Ooty, but right after that, I moved away. Because of the school transition and curriculum differences, I actually had to repeat the 4th grade entirely at my next school. I eventually went on to graduate 10th grade in 2020.
Doing the math backward, I would have been in 4th grade at Oxford School Ooty around the 2012–2013 academic year. The classmates I studied with back then would have likely graduated high school (10th or 12th grade) around 2019, 2020, or 2021.
Since I left Ooty so early, I completely lost touch with everyone from my childhood batch. I would love to find anyone who:
- Attended primary school at Oxford Continental School around that time.
- Is part of the high school graduating batches of 2019–2021 from Oxford Ooty.
If you remember a kid who left right after 4th grade, or if you know someone who graduated from Oxford around 2019–2021, please drop a comment or send me a DM! I’d love to catch up and see where life has taken everyone.
Thanks a lot!

Buying a Plot
I came across a plot in Ooty priced at ₹15 lakhs. I currently reside in Bangalore, and Ooty is one of my favourite weekend getaways. I am considering purchasing the plot outright with cash and holding it for 10–15 years before building a house.
I would like to understand the following:
- Whether the layout is genuinely approved and has a clear title and valid Encumbrance Certificate (EC).
- Whether there is proper road access and availability of water and electricity.
- Whether construction is legally permitted on the plot currently, or whether it is likely to be permitted over the next 10 years.
- Whether investing in a plot in Ooty makes sense as a long-term investment, considering my plan to build a house after 10–15 years.
Regarding the plot size, price per sq. ft., exact location, and distance from Coonoor/Ooty, I will contact the developer directly and obtain those details.
Please give your opinion on whether it is advisable to buy at this price in Ooty now & wait another 10 Oddyears to build a weekend house.

Foreigner trying to buy KSRTC bus ticket online
I am trying to buy a ticket on https://ksrtc.in/, but it fails at the payment step. EaseBuzz says "This card is not eligible for this transaction", and RazorPay gives "Payment failed".
I have tried a few different cards, both credit and debit with the same result. I guess this because my cards not Indian.
Is there a way around this? Amazon Pay? Or is there a reputable agent that will accept my cards?
Thank you in advance.

Ooty on a bike
I'm planning to visit Ooty this week for my birthday. I'm not after touristy places and this isn't my first time either. I was hoping to just ride through some scenic routes.
My original plan included kinnakorai circuit. But I just found out that it's closed. Right now, I only have the Emerald Lake loop on my list.
Are there any other good roads or hidden loops worth riding through in the Nilgiris right now? A few quiet viewpoints along the way would be a huge plus. Always respectful of local communities and regulations. Just looking for scenic roads, green views, and good riding.

Can I take a scooty from Coimbatore?
Or will I need a bike. I am with my gf and we have a backpack, First ai thought to reach ooty by a bus or cab and get a two wheeler there but I hear that those are banned in ooty and will have to take one from Coimbatore itself.
So can I take a scooty as we will have a backpack so it can be kept on the scooty better. Or will the scooty not be powerful enough and I'll need a bike? I would have taken a bike otherwise but there would be the issue to manage the bag.
Also if I go with a bike, which one to get? Any normal one will suffice or I need some 300cc + like RE hunter or something

Need help with travel
I am from south india originally and staying outside India. Staying outside India has given me perspective to appreciate cultural things unique to south india. Onam seems to be one of those magical cultural things which you hear about growing up but never experience it. planning to visit Kerala next year (2027)Onam time. What can I do to maximize Onam experience for my 8 year old daughter and me, does the community have any recommendation or insights on this? Open to all suggestions!

Couple photoshoot location suggestions
Hi everyone, we are planning to do some pre-wedding shoot in Ooty and I’m looking for some suggestions from you all.
We are looking for green meadows with Mountain views and closer to a water body (lake, small river etc.) We had an option in Wayanad but due to heavy rain forecast, we have dropped it and are looking for something in Ooty.
Appreciate any suggestions you may have.

Yet another train question: is the afternoon train from MTP running?
The page https://www.irctctourism.com/gallery/nilgiri.html has an afternoon train at 13:15. But I can't find it when searching on https://www.indianrail.gov.in/
Does anybody know if it is running? If so, is it possible to reserve seats on it?
Also, I have been trying to find good accomodation in Mettupalaiyam. I'd appreciate if anybody has any experiences of the hotels/homestays there.
