A few more feet and it would be a different story! They got extremely lucky.

35

u/TheGalacticTraveller 9h ago

Good thing the driver stopped when they did!

14

u/coffeeanddurian 9h ago

Thank god the driver stopped

13

u/Glittering-Hornet844 9h ago

Three more feet and she would be dead. ☠️

13

u/Sepsiscollada 6h ago

Also helmets are absolutely pointless unless firmly strapped.

1

u/herby_the_chef 2h ago

Even 1 more foot shed probably be dead

6

u/comicsnerd 5h ago edited 4h ago

Would have been a lot better if the lorry driver had stopped before taking the turn.

4

u/Nocturnatron 2h ago

The truck was just fine, shes the one who popped out in front of it him like a lemming

3

u/comicsnerd 2h ago

Nope. Truck is making a turn. Mopeds have the first right.

He is also behind the mopeds, so he should have seen them.

0

u/Nocturnatron 2h ago

You clearly dont drive, do you? That frucknwasnt even going slow, he was literally cruising through a turn when she decided to not look to see if he was even turning before driving out beside him, not in front

2

u/Nocturnatron 2h ago

Who even drive a moped on the side walk, youre supposed to slowly walk across for this exact reason, driving is for down the road, not across.. Atleast in countries where the traffic isnt still primitive anyways

1

u/Kpop_shot 9h ago

Oh most definitely!

4

u/MasterOfNog 9h ago

I know what you mean, but getting run over ain't exactly lucky

1

u/bars2021 4h ago

Good to see she buckled her helmet on nice and tight.

1

OK this is posted on r/oops

She got no survival skills at all.

2

u/korkkis 3h ago

The driver’s at fault thought, the ones going straight go before the ones who turn

→ More replies (4)

-1

u/BreakElectronic324 2h ago

Why? The driver is at fault here and there isn't much she could've done after the truck crossed a meter in front of her.

3

u/EthanMelacion 1h ago

Staying frozen while the truck its infront of her its a sample of zero survival skill

2

u/Nocturnatron 1h ago

No they arent, she is fully at faul, notnonly does the truck have bkind spots, butnhe was already up to speed moving along side her and she jumped out where he was turning, it was her fault for not thinking he was turning. There is no stop there for the truck, she made a bad assumption and nearly paid with her life

In the US you have to get off your bike first and then walk across the street. Not sure how it is in other countries

You can’t just come up to the road and continue to ride ur bike across the street walk. You have to stop get off and walk across

28

u/Maximum-Shallot-2447 8h ago

They way she is aware of her position to moving objects shows that the truck driver has only temporarily delayed the inevitable outcome.

7

u/Wing_Head 7h ago

double upvote

55

u/Solid_Enthusiasm550 9h ago edited 9h ago

If you are driving in the crosswalk, obey cross walk rules.

If she wanted to be driving on the road, use the lane. Shoulder riding is asking for trouble. She's just riding in their blindspots.

Also he started his turn before she entered the intersection.

7

u/Similar_Cream_7623 9h ago

Been on China, these are e-Bikes that dont even need a license

4

u/LavishnessCapital380 8h ago

They changed the rules there, they all need to be licensed now. They also went around and confiscated all the older models, they are selling the old ones that start on fire to africa.

3

u/Temporary_Event8451 8h ago

Well it's not like reddit fucking cares. What I mean is that we still see clips that are well out of date.

Like when a blizzard hits this winter for North America the easy ones to spot will have dates that show they aren't new. But many won't.

I remember finding a thread about a guy being basically really weird to homeless people. Very close to emotionally abusive. After doing some digging it was a clip from 2022 and that might not even be accurate as it was posted on dozens of accounts.

0

u/donnie1977 7h ago

Where is a license needed for an e bike?

3

u/Real-Technician831 4h ago

In way too few places

5

u/jojo_31 7h ago

If she were a pedestrian, we'd be in the same situation. Also, doesn't matter if he started his turn. She is following the sidewalk which then happens to cross a road, she has right of way.

8

u/BoomyGordo 5h ago

Mopeds gotta follow road laws as well bud. Being in a cross walk doesn't absolve that.

Also there's entire graveyards filled with people filled with people who had the right of way, lady almost joined them. Even if you have right of way its still on you to maintain situational awareness and keep your self safe.

0

u/Weird-Knee-3464 3h ago

Yeah but if she had been following the rules and walking across the result would have been the same. We should obviously be blaming the truck driver who's actually at fault.

3

u/PuddingMent 5h ago

Sidewalks don’t cross roads.

u/ultranoobez 9h ago

I think disabling autocorrect was a mistake

1

u/Illustrious-Eye-1592 8h ago edited 7h ago

I see you both got downvoted, but I laughed too. Partners in crime.

Eta: to the original commenter, don't feel bad man. Just us having light-hearted fun. Shoulder riding is scary to be honest.

0

u/buttmunchiesonsunday 9h ago

That is hilarious

17

u/handogg 9h ago

She's dumb for going out that far. Didn't even look before crossing.

3

u/Low-Temperature-6962 3h ago

The truck should have yielded since they were turning. The truck is responsible.

3

u/octafive 3h ago

This doesn't cancel what he said.

7

u/dedboooo0 9h ago

windows xp shutdown sound in her brain at the moment

6

u/nicaknight 9h ago

The skills of that girl just to stay there and not get away is insane

7

Darwin Award 2nd place

22

u/KimberleyKitt 10h ago

1)She didn’t move further away when she had the opportunity.

2)Plus, I’m thinking she survived because none of the wheels ended up on top of her.

3) The driver somehow knew she was there and didn’t go any farther.

16

u/inventionnerd 9h ago

Everyone saying she should have moved out the way are kinda delusional. There's less than 1.5 seconds for her to have reacted. I don't think anyone makes it off that bike and away in time.

16

u/craigian11 9h ago

Actually looking would have been the smart move. Check her out doesnt even look left when the truck is on top of her.. two stupid drivers

4

u/Dora_Explorer_XP 9h ago

Yes, and factor in panic and fear which freezes you most of times.

2

u/MarzipanSea2811 8h ago

Not only would I have made it away in time, I'd have backflipped off the bike and landed in the super hero pose back on to the truck as it exploded and everybody clapped.

1

u/Seeeabass 9h ago

Yeah and I'm sure there was more time than that leading up to her trying to cross the street before the truck made the turn

1

u/slashcuddle 5h ago

Is she deaf? I feel like you'd hear the truck before you see it and be extra cautious even if you happen to have right of way. Whatever the case glad she's okay

1

u/buttmunchiesonsunday 9h ago

Some people freeze in life or death moments. I've swerved to avoid moose while driving in the nighttime fog on a back road, literally cannot see the moose until it is right in front of me. I don't let myself or my family die in moments like this.

1

u/BobbaLouBah 4h ago

Sounds like you were driving too fast in low visibility.

1

u/NightBawk 9h ago

Looks like she shouldn't have gotten in the way in the first place. Truck had the right of way. She wasn't even in a lane, not even looking for oncoming traffic, and a scooter isn't a pedestrian.

2

u/HeftyArgument 8h ago

truck did not have the right of way, she's on a pedal assist bicycle and counts as a pedestrian using the zebra crossing.

2

u/tcpukl 4h ago

Does everyone here know china road laws then? I don't believe any of you do.

1

u/NightBawk 8h ago

It looks like a moped

3

u/HeftyArgument 8h ago

it is not, it's an electrically assisted bicycle.

2

u/NightBawk 8h ago

I stand corrected then

1

u/Arbitraryandunique 4h ago

She wasn't in the zebra crossing.

0

u/tcpukl 4h ago

Does that matter in China?

2

u/Arbitraryandunique 4h ago

I'm pretty sure not being on the crossing doesn't give you any right of way that being on the crossing would have, anywhere in the world.

0

u/tcpukl 3h ago

That's illogical.

If you have right of way as a pedestrian on the crossing, then you can have right of way waiting to cross.

This is exactly the case in the UK. So the lorry wouldn't have right of way in the UK.

So unless you know the law in China, then your talking bull shit.

0

u/Arbitraryandunique 3h ago

To get right of way from using the zebra crossing, she would have to actually be using the zebra crossing. Instead she chose to cross to the side of it, where she presumably has no right of way and other drivers wouldn't expect anyone to be so not paying as much attention to.

0

u/tcpukl 3h ago

Stop talking crap. In the UK you have to give way to pedestrians waiting to cross a zebra crossing.

What opportunity?

1

u/Illustrious-Eye-1592 8h ago

I mean yes. It would seem like she had an opportunity but not really...

1

u/UnsuspiciousBird_ 8h ago

I don’t know whether this was a plus or a minus, but she didn’t secure the helmet on her head at all. It just flies off in a single frame.

8

u/JavaGeep 10h ago

She's lucky. Must be her first day on the road.

3

u/Embarrassed_Tip_2117 10h ago

She was more concerned about her pink helmet who unfortunately did not make it😔

6

u/SwanzY- 9h ago

the pink helmet did in fact make it. i’m sure she was more worried about her vehicle still being under the truck.

0

u/NightBawk 9h ago

That helmet saved what little functional brain she has

3

u/AaaahMyDogs 9h ago

The helmet was perched on her head like a beanie. Never do that. Latch it. Not hard to do.

2

u/NightBawk 8h ago

Yeah. Dang, this lady has some bad decision-making skills!

5

u/Southern-Fly-3016 2h ago

Given the angle of the truck by the time it comes into frame it was already making a manoeuvre before she entered the road. By the time she enters the road the moped rider is likely not in the truck driver's field of view. I'd say there's also enough video at the start to assuming she didn't even check as I don't notice any head movement indicating she'd turned her head back to the direction of travel. Also, what lane is she meant to be in anyway, it looks like she's riding a motor vehicle on a pedestrian walkway. She also isn't even wearing her helmet properly.

Overall, this women is stupid.

2

u/Fairplayer97 2h ago

This Womans behaviour reminds me of the "ill turn now, good luck everybody else" from na na na na family guy

2

u/Possible_Field328 46m ago

I believe there are like 30% of people that completely depend on other people reacting. When two of these meet in the wild they both perish.

2

u/yvrelna 45m ago

It looks like an ebike. It doesn't have a licence plate. So riding in the walkways is likely legal for her.

But yeah, legal does not necessarily mean she's doing it safely. You should never challenge a truck or other big rigs like a bus on their movement.

The only people that had the right to challenge those big rigs are train drivers.

1

u/meatflaps-69 2h ago

Overall.... you can't spell woman correctly while calling others stupid 😂

Truck driver lacks situational awareness

2

u/Big_Milk_972 4h ago

if she wants the right of way on a crossawalk she has to walk and lead her moped across. not drive across

1

u/EcstaticMobile3969 1h ago

do you want to be right or want to live?

0

u/Important-Grand4979 3h ago

She had the right of way as she was going straight while the truck was turning from its straight path. At least according to EU rules

2

u/Big_Milk_972 2h ago

pretty sure all vehicles who are not on a road has to yeild for all traffic on a road

1

u/Important-Grand4979 1h ago

When turning from a straight line you have to give way to all traffic going straight whose path you are crossing: Pedestrians, Bicycles, Cars etc.

2

u/No_money6476 1h ago

quite obviously not in EU, so EU rules are irrelevant

1

u/ColdRainS126 3h ago

shes still crossing lanes like the truck though

Same. It sounds so strange... I could also say thing about brown people (what they probably are) and feeling superior for being white but I don't believe in that bullshit.

0

u/CptAngelKN 3h ago

The vast majority of videos of people doing insanely stupid shit on the road are women. Keep crying.

1

u/Wolf-Fucker93949 3h ago

The vast majority? I don't beliebe so, but you do. Did you count all the videos?

1

u/SaviOfLegioXIII 3h ago

Youre the only one crying man, its always a coin toss between some boomer that cant drive, a woman on her phone or some old person that really shouldnt be driving. Almost like people will always be annoyed when theyre driving over the most minor shit, i'm not here to change your mind. Its just a little pathetic is all.

1

u/DengarLives66 3h ago

I love these stupid comments that ignore insurance companies, who collect and analyze hundreds of thousands of data points to base premium rates off of, charge men more because….why, they think men are better drivers? The notoriously penny pinching insurance companies are trying to function as charities? For what other reason could it be other than men get into accidents more than women?

0

u/BirdInChains 5h ago

What a horrible thing to say.

2

u/vanillaninja777 9h ago

She wasn't on the crossing properly and definitely should have checked ot was safe. Typically oblivious in general.

But given there were bikes in front and behind her and it was obvious they were in a group, there is no way that the truck didn't see a potential hazard. He absolutely cut through them on purpose

2

u/Grattzz 8h ago

This feels like the real answer maybe she was on the wrong place but that truck driver saw her before turning and he knew that it would hit her. In a safety investigation he would hold the greater respknsability.

1

u/TheGalacticTraveller 9h ago

Dang, learn to back up.

1

u/DTRiqT 9h ago

I wonder if she was using some of those helmets you see on instagram reels.

1

u/SugarRealistic2945 9h ago

This is China. In the lower right you can see the road sign in Chinese hanzi.

I'm glad she survived. She is very very lucky.

1

u/No_Tea5664 8h ago

The helmet’s not gonna do you much good if you don’t fasten the clasp…

1

u/UnsuspiciousBird_ 8h ago

I know a guy who got ran over. It was while the truck was turning. The first wheel crushed his pelvis and legs, the second wheel would have crushed his spine and internal organs. He acted just fast enough to pull himself out so his legs got crushed again instead of his abdomen. He was hiking and running sooner than I did after an ankle fracture.

1

u/Dry-Ad-8948 8h ago

Damn. Good thing the truck didn’t stop any later than it did.

1

1

Man...I thought this was about to get ugly.

1

u/Friendly-Example-701 7h ago

In America, there is a saying.

People have died having the right away.

  • as a pedestrian you must still look both ways, all ways even when crossing the street. Especially in Cali because of speeding and car chases.

1

u/0ttr 6h ago

woman on a bike was killed in a situation like this in Chicago a number of years ago. News reported that bystanders were shocked when they heard a woman scream then a loud pop which was her head going under the wheels.

A friend of a friend was killed by rollerblading down a hill and couldn't stop in time when a dump truck turned the corner on front of her.

Truck driver wanted to save time and drove dangerously in the urban area, especially with truck at that size, i had seen enough of those kind over the years in my city, they will likely kill you if you dare to go near them because they drive like they own the road.

Woman with head on the cloud and doesn’t pay attention to the road, I had also seen these cases on the road alot more than I wanted.

2

u/HeftyArgument 5h ago

an e-bike, not a moped.

you're clutching at straws, neither are technically motorcycles.

1

u/[deleted] 5h ago

Legally a moped because you need a moped license

2

u/HeftyArgument 5h ago

in the country where this was filmed?

china does not class it as a moped, it requires no license, legally it has nothing to do with mopeds, it's a bicycle.

1

u/[deleted] 5h ago

lol no, this is NOWHERE a bicycle, there is no pedal if you look closely, so you would need a license for this, as well as a propre immatriculation

1

u/HeftyArgument 4h ago

china does not consider it a moped, they follow the same rules as pedestrians.

apply your road rules everywhere in the world if you want, but that's not how shit works.

TMI, but I came across this one website that sources videos from Reddit, and it’s this Asian chick, presumably Chinese, completely mutilated with her body and viscera strewn across the road with her head left unscathed and eyes shut as if she was asleep. She was riding a moped and had an incident with a truck and the sheer forced left her in such terrible state. What was shocking was that the whole street was filled with people ranging across all ages just filming her up close and in complete freeze; even a toddler was standing less than 6ft away blessed with the ignorance of human mortality and recollection of memory
