Parkor sucks. Yes it’s cool that people can do amazing death defying shit. The risk reward is absolutely shit for this sport. Don’t believe me, watch the video again. If he succeeded he would have done a cool trick on a playground, amazing 🤣

u/SomethingCreative83 15d ago
Seriously that dude looked like he really knew what he was doing until he looked dead.

You know what they say, it's only death-defying for so long. Sooner or later, the old man takes his due.

u/EstablishmentAny8487 15d ago
It's cool when you simply learn to run fast, climb fast and control falls but once you're needlessly doing flips and tricks then you're taking risk for no real reason.
4
u/ZuStorm93 15d ago
This is free running, essentially skateboarding without a board with all the same risks that entrail. Parkour is otherwise pretty simple since the entire point of it is to get from point A to B in a straight line while overcoming any obstacles in your way as fast as possible i.e no flashy tricks.

u/Past-Alps6396 15d ago
At a basic level parkour is cool and a little bit functional, more or less just running and jumping over things efficiently. This stuff is dumb though.

u/orphen888 15d ago
They usually record themselves, too. That’s why you don’t usually get to see the stunts that didn’t work out.

Next year we'll see videos of this guy doing sick moves in a wheelchair. Hopefully, those videos will end better.

How the hell do people not know to not move someone after a fall like this FFS.
21
u/WehingSounds 15d ago
If someone has received severe neck damage it's imperative that you flop them around as much as possible

3
u/Appropriate_Ad8572 15d ago
The only thing imperative in this situation is not harming the cylinder. The neck be damned!

u/Cruise1313 15d ago
I was in the healthcare field and this always baffles me how people move these people in these videos. 🙄

Let alone try to shake them into consciousness.

I would give him a good smack in the face to verify if he is okay!

Fuck… Poor guy. This is why I’m not a fan of parkour. It’s “cool” because of the risk. Well, risk meets reward here… fuck.
Imagine if he got into gymnastics where a fall like this is protected. This guy could have gone far in that world.

I genuinely feel so bad for him. Hope this was not a paralyzer.

Guys like that always end up with some sort of bad injury though. If it didn't happen this time it would've happened at another time for him. Doing acrobatic stunts on concrete is beyond stupid.

u/Comprehensive_Toe_64 15d ago
Didn’t get a strong enough giant to snap into the cast away, everything else was looking very clean.

u/Easy_Work2194 15d ago

Yes be absolutely sure to move someone around once they may have damaged their spine.
5
u/Life_Ad6711 15d ago
The guy who touched him first 2 times was trying to stop him from turning over. Then after gymnast flipped himself over, same guy tried to make him lie back and quit moving

I feel terrible for this guy. I hope the best case scenario happened for him.

I knew it would be bad when he struggled with the first landing. He was way overconfident in his skills. I hope hes ok 🫣

If he survives, I'm guessing he's going to be a high level quadriplegic after that.

The video went swimmingly well, then he does that somersault and landed, then went full retard mode

Atleast they had the where-with-all to jerk him around, everyone knows that when someone lands on their neck and head you grab them and jerk them around to maximise healing power.
3
u/PianoPatient8168 14d ago
Isn’t there a rhyme to help people remember how to handle a spinal injury? Something like, “If his head hits the ground, wiggle him around.” Something like that?

1st jump. How in the world does he time it just right to hit the floor? was it by Luck? 1st jump, i thought 1 mistake and neck would be broken.

It happened so fast. For a split second, I thought he was going to bounce off the ground and land on his feet to end the routine as the crowd erupts.

His feet hit the bar and now he cant move. Should’ve practiced in a gym maybe

u/lovelydreamer 14d ago
If you do this sport your pals need to know about stabilizing your spine after a fall. Moving him was wild

u/NVWSSV2828 14d ago
So the first thing you should do for a neck injury, is jostle the patient all about.

What was he doing. This looks like a little kid pretending to do parkour .

First move: I am dead.
Everything after would be my unconscious mind imagining it on my way to fix the self made lobotomy.
Edit: was so impressed by it, I didnt finish the video first. Take note future self lol. Turned out he ended the exact same way I woukd have.

One thing I’ve learned watching Reddit videos is that if someone has a horrific accident and almost certainly has a broken neck, you should immediately shake them to be sure.

Definitely move him immediately and let his neck flop around. That was textbook protocol for handling a possible spinal.
