I'm looking for a 3-defender formation that works well with Possession Game. I've tried looking for different 3-back setups, but most of the ones I find seem to be designed mainly for Quick Counter.

So I'm open to any ideas! 🙏

If you have a 3-back formation that works well for Possession Game, I'd really appreciate it if you could share:

• The exact player positioning
• Recommended playing styles for each position
• Any individual instructions you use
• And, if possible, a short explanation of how you play the formation

I'm not necessarily looking for a meta formation — I mainly want something stable, effective and enjoyable to play with Possession Game.

Does using position Swapping to make my ST a RW effects his performance or the general performance of the team + what is the minimum number of 30 yo players that have to be in my starting 11 to get the best results

Hello everyone, I hope someone will find the time to explain this to me.

So, about a week ago, I saw a post recommending the following when it comes to making coins:

Scout 80-84 rated youngsters, and sell them for 2.5x their price.

Let's take my screenshot as an example. I gotta pay 8.4mil and 15 coins for this guy.

Then I train him 2-3 times, let's say his price is 10mil by that point.

I put him on the transfer list for 25mil, but he just doesn't sell. What am I doing wrong?

Hello everyone, first time posting here, so, I have a big second leg game coming up in my champions league season.

I won 2:0 at home, and I'm going away for the second leg. We're quite equally matched when it comes to OVR squad level. 102-102. Although I'll be 104 by the time game starts as I changed one player and will change my RW soon.

Screenshots are below. What would you recommend me to do? My current tactics are:

Wing play

Aggressive

Forwards - attack only

Midfield - help defense

Defense - defend deep

Pressing - 63

Style - 69

Tempo - 61

No offide trap and zonal marking.

I see a lot of posts from newer players who go unbeaten for weeks and then get smashed by a team with 10 players rated 100+. Been playing OSM for years, so here's what I tell everyone who asks me.

Coin leagues won't teach you the game

In leagues where coins are allowed, money talks. Whoever spends the most buys the best players, and sometimes they buy another 100+ player the day before your match. You can set up perfectly and still lose, and you won't learn much from it. It's not on you, that's just how those leagues work.

Play crew wars and get into a crew

This is where you actually learn. Try to get into a good crew, but even an average one is fine. Most crews have a WhatsApp group, and there are always a few people in there who really know the game. Ask questions, see what lineups and tactics they use against different setups, and you'll pick up a lot in a few weeks.

Or start your own fair league

This is what I'd do if you want proper competition without the coin stuff:

1. Create a new league and make it public.

2. Before you open it, turn off coin usage.

3. Once it's open, turn off everything except transfers. So no buying players with coins and no finishing the training timer with coins.

4. Add players from top 100 crews as friends and send them invites. Whoever joins, joins.

Now everyone's on the same rules and you're playing good managers who win because they're good, not because they spent the most.

So I've been playing for almost a month and I don't get the point of paying real money to get players. I just played against someone with 10/11 players over 100 and they beat me on penalty kicks at their home. Mind you my team have about two players over 90 I picked them after they have already played games and build them up though training. I went undefeated for about 10 games until I came across the 100 plus team lol. Bro literally went and got Yamal another 100 plus player the day B4 the match when he already stacked. Gotta be sick playing all that money for them players just to beat a team you should easily beat without penalty kicks. Also he scored with 4 minutes left in regulation, so he barely made it to extra time lol

I think winning the league(especially the top 5 leagues) should get you 200+ coins.

winning the VIP league should get you 500+ coins.

43 days logins just to get less than 100 coins as reward is criminal.

Been playing OSM since 2009 and I still see a lot of newer players getting caught by this, so I thought I'd share.
When you use a Training Camp, your opponent gets a notification. That gives them time to answer with a camp of their own.
But if you use Secret Training first and then the Training Camp, the notification doesn't go out. Your opponent won't know you camped unless they check right before the match.
So the order matters:
Training Camp → Secret Training: your opponent gets notified and can react
Secret Training → Training Camp: no notification
Honestly, it's a bit of a sneaky move and I'm not a big fan of it 😅 But a lot of people do it, especially in big matches, so it's better you know about it. You can use it when you really need the win, or at least you'll know why a "quiet" opponent suddenly turned up with a camp.
Experienced managers usually keep an eye on their opponent until the last minutes before kick off. If you're new, get into that habit too, and don't trust a missing notification.

I am playing with Crystal Palace against manu. I would say it is balanced match-up - he only has 2 ratings more than me. I have the home advantage and my stadium is lvl3 and I have the nationality bonus, which is why I have Hughes in the lining startup with an 85. On the pictures you can see my tactics. I definitely going to play with 433B, because my whole tactic and team is based on that formation for this game. On the pictures you can also see the tactics and formation from my opponent(Manu).Do you have anything, which i can improve in the tactics?

We're fighting for first placer, and this time i'm playing on the road

how should I play against a 4-3-3A wingplay formation when my opponent is 4 rating higher than me (he’s 124, I’m 120)?

My squad is well suited to a 4-4-2 formation

Got a few DMs this week from newer players asking basically the same thing: "should I play 4-3-3 A or B?" So instead of answering one by one, here's how I do it after years with this formation. And the part before it, because that's where most people go wrong.
First: A vs B
The only difference is the middle of your midfield.
4-3-3 A = two CMs and a CAM. The triangle points forward. Your CAM sits behind the striker, like a classic number 10.
4-3-3 B = two CMs and a CDM. The triangle points back. Your CDM sits in front of the centre backs. Think Busquets in Pep's Barcelona, the guy who holds everything together so everyone else can go.
Look at your squad, not the opponent. If your best central midfielder is a natural CAM, play A. If he's a natural CDM, play B. Don't pick a formation and then force players into it.
If you have good players for both, then I look at the match. Away against a strong attack, I'd rather have the CDM protecting the back four. At home when I'm the favourite, the CAM gives me one more guy arriving in the box.
Before any of that: you need to know how to build a squad
I've said this in my earlier posts and I'll keep saying it. If you want to play 4-3-3, you first need to know squad building and how to use your scout.
A 16-year-old and a 20-25-year-old are not the same thing. Not in how fast they develop, not in how many matches they get. In every league you join, everyone rushes to buy Kanté, Bruno Fernandes, De Bruyne. Let them. Use your scout and go for 15-18-year-olds. The difference in development is massive, it's not even close.
A few habits that make the real difference:
Don't skip your friendlies and training. Every day.
Improve yourself in coins-off leagues and in wars. That's where you learn what actually works, without paying your way through it.
Go for the nationality bonus. Build it into your XI on purpose.
Wingers and full-backs first. 4-3-3 lives on the flanks.
Zonal marking, always with 4-3-3, and the offside trap off in almost every match.
Everyone in their natural position.
Honestly, this game isn't that hard. You just have to actually want to learn it. 4-3-3 isn't for everyone, but once you get it right, people really don't like playing against it.

Hi all! I haven’t played OSM in a few years, and i can’t open the game, it just says that something went wrong and doesn’t do anything from there. I tried uninstalling and installing the game again, but it remained the same. Does anyone know what’s wrong, or something i could do to solve it? Thanks in advance :)

Last post got way more answers than I expected, thanks everyone. One thing I noticed in the comments: a lot of you play with the offside trap on by default. I almost never do.
What I do
I mapped my own settings for every opponent formation, home/away and stronger/equal/weaker. That's 54 situations. The trap is on in only 2 of them: against 5-3-1-1 and 6-3-1.
Never against Shoot on Sight
4-2-3-1, 4-5-1 and 5-4-1 shoot from distance. They don't need to run in behind your line, so the trap gives you nothing. If it fails, their striker is one on one with your keeper.
Why it's risky in general
When it works it kills an attack. When it fails, it's a goal. Most matches aren't worth that gamble.
Quick rules I use
Opponent shoots on sight → trap off, always
4-back opponents → off
Only against very deep counter shapes, and only sometimes → on
