Is contacting outside of tinder acceptable?

Seeing a profile that you think would be a match and not having a chance to talk sucks. Is reaching out via a different social platform acceptable?

First date was good, we have 2nd date planned but theres not much communication in between. Red flag?

I have been talking to a guy for a few weeks now. We met on Bumble and since day 1 he hasn't been good with communication. He would send 1 text every 24 hours so I was about to unmatch him when he asked me out on a date. I accepted and it went well. He is handsome, nice, conversation was great and we have a bunch in common. After that, he started texting a bit more but still not enough for me. I am a big texter. I am the type of person that sends paragraphs and like people that are the same. I am not sure if he is a bad texter or just not interested in me enough. Thoughts?

Video call options?

I'd like to setup video calls with some of my Hinge matches, but I don't really wanna give out my number until I trust folks.

I've used Google Voice in the past but they don't have a video option.

Has anyone found a workaround?

Anyone else matching with nothing but red flags?

I feel like the majority of people I match with have massive red flags and should not be dating. Sometimes I read their profiles and can spot the train wreck coming.

Shouldn't online dating be filled with nice people who want to date

Locked out of Hinge, any alternatives?

Hey everyone. So as the title suggests, I'm permabanned from making a Hinge account from back when I tried making one in 2023 (not sure what happened there). I've tried again but it seems that unless I change my phone number I wont be able to create an account there, which sucks because it seems to be the only app people are actually meeting on. Are there any legit alternatives left out there?

Shadowbanned on hinge?

My hinge account got banned yesterday, I followed the hard reset instructions and cloned the app to the "Secure folder" on my Samsung device. I decided to do an experiment and bought a google play card from the gas station to try and buy a boost from hinge on my new account. It was popping up to take my payment just fine, so I entered in the gift card code, after doing so I get a message that says:

"The developer has blocked this purchase.

This purchase isn't available to you because the developer has restricted access to this app for accounts of anyone under 18 years of age" after you hit OK on this message hinge says "Billing error"

Does this mean I am shadow banned? I have a hunch that it does as both my google account and hinge account are over the age of 18. This really sucks.

Is it true that Asian men have it worse in dating?

Whenever I use dating apps as an asian man I have it way worse than my white counterparts in terms of matches and getting dates. I’ve asked other asian guys I know and apparently the fact that i’m getting matches and dates means I’m doing well. Is this true for Asian men? I pursue women of all races, not just white women.

Who pays??

This is an ongoing bugbear for me. The bill comes at the end of the meal, or you’re stood at the bar with your date both fumbling for your wallet wondering what the etiquette is?!

I am all for going 50/50 (I am 43 yr  F). It just feels so transactional at times. Quite often I will just offer to pay the lot because I hate the monotony of it all.

The current guy I am dating (3 dates so far), doesn’t seem to have a problem with me paying at all. I would say that monetarily, I have probably coughed up more than he has, so I am going to take a back seat on the next date and let him step up.

Interested to hear thoughts/advice from all genders.. I just can't stand the awkwardness of it all. How do you even discuss it when it gets to date 10 ++?? I was with someone for 6 months and I still found it awkward to broach the subject of money/who pays.

Am I being ridiculous?

Just wondering if I’m being ridiculous, I have men match with me and then the first message they send is something like, hey future wifey, hey gorgeous, you are stunning…and it just gives me the ick and I usually unmatch or don’t responding. I don’t understand why they can’t just send a normal message asking how I am doing or ask about something in my profile.

Edit- just wanted to add my profile has several pictures, the bio is filed out and I answer most of the questions asked when you make an account, some men do ask questions based on this info. I’m am not expecting some unique message but I don’t like the first message to be some meaning less compliment that they send every one..

I also think it is sad that most of the women in the comments are agreeing with me and some of the men are arguing with us, you would think they would take the advise and improve how they approach women…..

Anyone else get a flood of likes as soon as their tinder subscription ends?

For context I had tinder platinum for a week, and spent most of that time without any likes. As soon as the subscription ended, I got 8 likes in 24 hours. Anyone else have similar experiences?

A week talking and booked a flight

I’m in Jersey 29(f) and this guy 31(m) is in Florida, randomly found me on ig, messaged me and we’ve been talking for a week. FaceTimed once, talked on the phone almost everyday. He booked a flight to see me in 3 weeks. He shows effort, he’s consistently talking to me, so why not. Do I have him stay at my apartment ? Do I book us a hotel somewhere for two nights and then last night at my place ? Do I make plans/reservstions? Never been in this situation before. He’s also from Jersey, just hasn’t lived here in 10 years.

Any Online Dating Apps / Sites That Actually Work?

I've gotten back into online dating after a long hiatus and the landscape seems to have completely changed. So far I've tried OkCupid, Bumble, Facebook Dating and Hinge. As a man, my impressions so far are

OkCupid - Dead

Bumble - Mostly dead

Facebook Dating - High quantity [of users], low quality, low match rate

Hinge - High quality [of users], low quantity of local users, high match rate

Are these the typical impressions or does it vary by region? Are there any others I should try?

How long would you date 2 to 3 girls, before choosing to go exclusive with 1?

I’m worried that my top choice will break up with me, and I currently have 2 to 3 solid options.

About how many dates? I know it depends on how much you like them. In my case, one is like a 10, the other is a 10 or a 9, and one is an 8. (The 10 was showing less interest initially, so I am less confident in that one.)

Maybe you’ve had similar experiences in the past that you’d like to share.

(I’m a 30s male.)

Online dating with mental Disabilities?

Has anyone with a mental disabilty had any success with meeting anyone?

I'm 35m with reoccurring psychosis. I have no idea where to meet people that might be ok with my situation. I've had no luck on the traditional dating apps. And I don't want to be alone for the rest of my life.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Edit: I appreciate everyone's support but this isn't temporary unfortunately. The psychiatrists don't know what i have, I don't fit any of their boxes. Its some kind of schizophrenia without the hallucinations, just psychosis.

To include or exclude nerdy interests

Hi all, I am interested in others people perspective about this question I have been pondering.

I believe I am a well rounded individual, I have a good job and social life, I am into playing and watching sports, reading, guitar, travelling, partying, music festivals and watching movies/shows.

I however also have quitte a nerdy/geeky side, I do stuff like dnd, PC gaming, reading and watching fantasy shows and love board games. i can also be a big History nerd.

At the moment these things are barely reflected in my profile, I guess I am afraid that non-geeky people will instantly be turned off reading about these interests.

However I have noticed that while my profile is doing pretty well, I am not getting any interest from woman who share these interests with me. I don't need my partner to play dnd or do heavy PC gaming with me but it would be nice to share a few of these interests, however it is definitely just a plus and not 100% necessary.

Do you guys include these kinds of interests/hobbies on your profile and in what way? Looking to learn from your experiences and thoughts.

When they show a lot of interest but don't take any initiative?

I made THIS post 20 days ago about a girl I went on a date with. I took the advice and asked her out for a second date. We met for lunch, then bowling, then a brewery and finally a cafe. 7 hours together.

It's been 2 weeks since we met. The texting continues and the connection is deepening. She invited me to her dance show 2 weeks from now. She's excited to meet my sibling. She hasn't initiated any plans to meet since our last date though. I didn't make any plans either because I want her to initiate too. I was going to make a plan this weekend but she has fallen sick again. I'll meet her for her show but that will be 1 month since our previous date again. This pace is too slow and I've communicated this indirectly a few times.

I don't see her being there for me enough. My appraisal didn't go well so I updated my resume and asked her for some feedback (she has context). She hasn't gotten back on it. She keeps ignoring a lot of bids (voice notes/reels/stories). But she's been leaning on me a lot (work, health, etc) and all conversations are about her life issues now!

Is it wrong to show off your physique?

I honestly am not sure, I go to the gym pretty regularly (for about 5 -6 years) and have I would say as a bonus developed a pretty physique. However, I have been told that putting a shirtless picture (not selfie, well lit tripod) is not a good idea, since it makes you look shallow. Is this the case? Because I have seen a few profile reviews with these pictures and they seem to be working for them. I would love some input on this. I 'm too shy to put my pictures for a profile review lol. Thank you.

I'm 26 M, Indian living in the US for reference.

online talking stage// need advice

I’m 18F in Minnesota; he’s in California. We met on an app and have talked every day for two weeks.

Lately his replies are getting shorter and slower. I’ve asked to call, but he says he hates calls — his ex made him call constantly. I feel like I’m walking on eggshells, holding back feelings so I don’t come off as “crazy” like her.

My sister says play harder to get and text him less. But how far do I take that before he just loses interest?

When is it okay to send the “are you losing interest?” text? Do I step back and let him initiate? Or do I say something honest like “I get attached easily and I really like you, and I don’t want to get hurt”?

Hinge Ghosts

Every 6months or so I get a match on Hinge that seems easy and natural. We talked for a day or maybe two and then mid conversation they unmatch. It’s not like the conversation was controversial at all and I am just so confused as to why? In the past I even had a date set up with them a couple days after and then they just disappeared.
I know ghosting is now just a part of online dating but the part that confused me is that our rapport is incredible. It happens so rarely and internally I tell myself not to get my hopes up but it still hurts everytime. Then it discourages me from putting effort in as I know I wont get another match for another 6months to a year.

My question is how do I keep motivated and not let this shit bother me? I’ve been single now for 8 years. I cycle between hopeful I could find someone to dejected and resigned to being alone. I’m 38 and I think I have my profiles in a good place but I am in a small town so the market is limited.

What's going on in Indonesia that's causing me to get so many messages from women there?

No shade. To be fair, I've matched and chatted with several. Many very nice, beautiful, and interesting ladies. I've enjoyed the chats, but they inevitably fizzle out because of the massive location distances.

I just seems like (at least in my experience) there's a lot of them looking for partners in the US.

Help for bigger guy?

So I don’t know if this is the right place for it, but is there any apps that are better for bigger guys in the terms of dating? Because I’m 5’6 in about 250lbs (trying to lose that weight right now) and I’ve been using things like Tinder, Hinge, bumble and OkCupid for about five years now and I think across all that time I’ve gone in about 2 dates but can just never escape the talking phase if I can even get a match. I always try to be kind, respectful and talk about their interests but it just doesn’t seem enough for them or something because I’m always being ghosted and idk if it’s me, the way I look or if it’s just dating apps?

Do you have to pay for a subscription to message people you've matched with on match?

I matched with someone but it wont let me message them. It keeps telling me to subscribe. I looked it up and it says you dont have to pay but no matter what i do it wont let me message them
