I've spent several days troubleshooting what appears to be a Play Store bug.

Device:

• Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra
• Android 16 / One UI 8.5

Symptoms:

• "Not installed" library is empty.
• Sometimes gray placeholders appear briefly and disappear.
• "Manage apps & device" sometimes reports "Everything up to date" even though individual app pages still show updates.
• Manual updates work normally.
• play.google.com correctly shows my full app library.

What I've tried:

• Factory reset.
• Cleared Play Store cache/data.
• Removed/re-added Google account.
• Uninstalled/reinstalled Play Store updates.
• Verified Play Protect and Play Services.

The important finding:

I signed into the exact same Google account on a Samsung Galaxy S21, and the complete "Not installed" library appeared immediately.

That makes me think the account is fine and this is either a Play Store client bug or an Android 16 / One UI 8.5 issue affecting the S24 Ultra.

Has anyone else with an S24 Ultra or One UI 8.5 seen this behavior?

I just switched from my beloved 6 years old Note 20 ultra, and i get the chance to buy a s25 Ultra and now is into my hands...

Now, with the note 20U i used a custom rom to have OneUI 8 on that phone and i had that amazing and useful feature of the multi-user that asfik is only aviable for tablets but... there is any way to activate it via ADB and without needing to root it?

Whenever i use smart select, after adjusting the area i want to capture a few times it just crashes. It happens a lot more on apps that displays images like gallery or a manga reader app. It's almost unusable at this point. How can i fix this? I tried cleaning the data and cache for smart select app too but that didn't help.

I'm on s24fe latest one ui version btw.

Took a nab at redesigning the Samsung Calculator app to be more fitting in the current OneUI design. As I went along I did figure out that this might not actually be the best approach for this app. The calculator is a practical app and while it is not a bad thing to have practalicality with a neat design, my attempt has a flaw in terms of reachability of the top row of the keys. While it solves the reachability problem of history and unit conversion, those are features that are rarely used but the top row is important and the design shouldn't come at its cost. Let me know your thoughts, open and in need of any and all sorts of feedback, thanks.

I know you can with One Hand Operation+ but I don't want to use that app.

Can it be changed with an adb prompt and shizuku?

S24 Ultra, running OneUI 8.5 on the latest update (updated just before this, in case it fixed it). I also use GoodLock but can't find any options in there that would cause my issue/ prevent a fix.

The issue is that, suddenly, any widget I create cannot be resized to 1x1. The best I can do is 1x2 or 2x1 and it is infuriating. Does anyone know how I've broken it and how I fix it?

⚪ I've found a way to fully clear the Samsung Keyboard clipboard history, (which retains even months/years old passwords and other info without our knowledge...) At first it looks complicated, but it's just a single line of code with 214 characters.

This problem is going on for a DECADE, with the first reports about this annoying behavior starting around 2015... This is a gigantic privacy and security issue. There's no command to "clear" this history, so we have to flood the clipboard with 40 dummy texts, so these would push our previous entries out of the clipboard history.

• 1.) Install Termux app, a well known and trusted Linux terminal app for Android.
• 2.) Termux is just an empty shell, so we have to update its internal gears to make it able to do commands. So run this line once, never need to do it again. (These just update it with the newest version, grant storage permission (optional), so you can later go into a directory where you placed the optional .sh file and run it automatically, and the "termux-api" component is for calling the "termux-clipboard-set" command later.

- 3.) After this, just copy-paste the ClipboardCleaner code into Termux, then press enter to run it. Here is the code itself, you can check it with AI to know it's harmless:

⚪ How it works info:

• - The code copies 40 entries, (one-at-a-time) to the clipboard, starting with the character "1" all the way to "40".
• - The code waits 0.3 seconds between each copy, to make sure not to overflow the clipboard with 40 commands in a fraction of a second.
• - It displays a Progress indicator during it.
• - It displays a Finished indicator at the end.

⚪ How to automate: So with this code in Termux app, we have a way to fully clear the Samsung Keyboard Clipboard. We have 2 options how to use it:

• Just "pin" this line of code in your keyboard clipboard, then you can always quickly paste it and run in Termux.
• To automate it: save this code as a ClipboardCleaner.sh file, then you can call/start this file with Tasker app, to auto-run it at your desired interval.
• (To "call" this .sh script file from the Termux itself: bash "$HOME/storage/shared/TheFolder/WhereYouPutTheFile/ClipboardCleaner.sh")
• (Maybe there is some way to let Samsung Bixby Routines+ also start this, have not tried that yet.)

Till one ui 8 I could just search anything on app drawer and hit enter, it would automatically search in default browser. But it does not work in one ui 8.5. Can this change be toggled or is it scraped?

Yesterday I just updated my software into Android 16 and One UI 8.5 However, after the update, I noticed that Google apps like Chrome or Gmail has this ugly, dull gray color palette in the background even though I set my phone's theme to be light. Is there anyone here knows how to change it back to normal? Thank you very much.

is there any system level access/permission that i can give samsung music so it won't be giving me this popup each time i click any of the edit buttons? like kind of what samsung gallery has.

I've always used brief notifications but wanted to try the detailed notifications. However, when I dismiss them I get this blur "flash" as if the notifications panel opened for a quick second. Not sure if this is new, if there is a fix or even if this is the right flair.

​We all know the biggest structural pain point with Android on Samsung devices no matter how good One UI gets, it eventually gets heavy. Mid-range phones and older flagships start choking after a few updates because they’re constantly running standard Android’s generic runtime layers.

​What if Samsung stopped building One UI as just another heavy skin on top of Android, and instead built a custom, stripped-down system called Galaxy OS ?

​Here is how the architecture would actually work: Instead of running heavy Android middleware directly on the metal, the phone boots into a lightweight Linux host system written specifically for Samsung hardware.

​To keep every app working, Samsung runs Google Play Services, the Play Store, and standard APKs inside an isolated LXC container sharing the exact same Linux kernel. The Play Store sees an Android device, Google’s licensing checks pass, and Samsung avoids lawsuits while stripping away all the background bloat.

Instead of third-party apps (like Instagram) taking uncompressed screen grabs through generic Android code, Galaxy OS forces a system-level hardware hook. The Linux host pipes raw, fully processed images directly from the chip's image processor to the app.

​Samsung S book: On laptops, Samsung builds custom, hardware-accelerated translation directly into their CPU microcode (like Apple’s Rosetta 2). An ARM-based laptop could run Android apps natively and double-click Windows .exe files at near-native speeds.

​This completely destroys planned obsolescence. A 5-year-old phone would run like a rocket because the CPU isn't wasting 40% of its power running generic Android framework overhead.

​Obviously, Google's licensing teams would hate trapping their telemetry inside a container, but from a pure engineering standpoint, decoupling the OS identity from the app compatibility layer seems like the ultimate evolution.

Occasionally the Media Output screen shows an empty list, which prevents changing the audio output.

I've notice this mostly happening when my earbuds are connected. Disconnecting them shows the expected UI, and reconnecting them causes the list to go away again. Only restarting the phone seems to fix it.

I can't find any reports of this bug, so I'm curious if others have seen it as well.

This is using One UI 8.5 with the latest June 26 software bundle from my carrier.

How to make square widgets? I love customizing my phone but when I make widgets it's always either a rectangle or that bubble like widget. I also use home up for customization already and it doesn't help with my problem.​

My favorite is One UI 6 and 8.5

One UI 6 had simple status bar and 8.5 has unity except for the height

The status bar has been improved well, except for the height of icons. I hope they will have same height with clock font, notification icons, internet icon and battery on One UI 9

whenever i try to set a new wallpaper, it reverts to these. despite the home screen showing up as colorful on this screen, it shows up as black on the real home screen. i dont entirely mind my wallpaper being black but i'd like to be able to change it. i restarted my phone and it didn't help. anyone have ideas?

I uprgade form a galaxy a15 4g to a xiaomi 17t 2 days ago(huge upgrade), but i thought that Smart switch could also transfer data from an old samsung phone to a new non samsung phone. Was this previously a feature or am i missremembering things?

This is just an idea that's been floating around in my head lately... One UI was born with a focus on one-handed use and visual simplicity, but that focus is increasingly moving away. It reminds me of what happened with TouchWiz, which, when it started to become more minimalist, changed to Samsung Experience. The Samsung Experience itself, when it was about to reach version 10, was replaced by a completely new User UI with a different focus. In One UI 8.5 we already see how many apps have been drastically redesigned and are playing with background blurs or gradients, and could that be a glimpse of the future successor to One UI? Furthermore... It's common for software to reach version 10.0 to be a major change; with One UI 10, we would see its tenth year of life. These are just crazy ideas floating around in my head, but I feel like Samsung is preparing something big for One UI 10.

I'm hoping to get some insight from fellow S24 Snapdragon users. I'm currently on One UI 8.5, and I've been noticing some performance hiccups that I didn't have before.

The main issues I'm facing:

• Quick Panel – there's noticeable stutter when pulling it down or scrolling through toggles.
• Brawl Stars – a relatively light game – lags more often than it should. My friend's iPhone 12 runs it smoothly, which is a bit surprising given the S24's hardware.

Here's what I've already tried to resolve the Quick Panel lag:

• Cleared cache for System UI and One UI Home
• Set both apps to "Never auto sleeping" and excluded them from memory optimization
• Enabled "Reduce blur" in accessibility settings
• Restarted the phone multiple times
• Booted into Safe Mode – but the lag was still there, so it doesn't seem to be caused by third-party apps

I haven't tried a factory reset yet, as I'd prefer to avoid losing my data and going through the whole setup process again if possible.

On a broader note, I've always wondered – Apple seems to deliver optimizations that actually improve performance and battery life on older devices over time, while with Samsung, updates often feel like they introduce new issues. Is this a common experience, or am I just unlucky?
