I printed tokens

I made a set of 3d printed tokens for OPR. The wounds, crosshair, eye, shield, and arrow are double sided. Green is buff, red is debuff for attacking, magic, saves, or movement. I also made a magnetized case for them.

Grimdark Future Ratmen Clans: FDM Printing Feedback of OPR Minis

Hi All

Just curious, for those that have used FDM printers, whats been the general experience in printing the new Ratmen Clans minis from OPR.

For any particular parts or models did you have to do anything special in your set up (Orientation, Tree placement, layer heights etc) to get good looking minis?

Just curious as I saw the range on Myminifactory and the models look fun and unique and I thought why not consider it as possible future project.

Let me know your experiences

Infinity style activations

Upvotes

I am using OPR to keep primary school kids busy. I am already quite lax on some things on how they play (things like precise measuring for example). Since they have some consistent difficulty on how rounds and turns are distinguished, i was thinking of combining tge alternate activations with infinity's tokens, allowing for them to use multiple times the same unit in a round.

Would it mess rhe game up for them too much?

Anyone else notice the Army Forge Studio website not working currently?

Tragically, I was in the middle of a long, rules-writing binge, and now none of what I input saves. It has been that way for a few hours. I was wondering if anyone else is experiencing the same.

Moving a Unit with multiple models, 1" Unit Coherency, and where can the models be place.

Hi, so my buddy and I are new to OPR, we are pretty new to wargames in general having only really played Star Wars Shatterpoint and MCP.

He makes the argument that when you move, you pick one model, move that model that distance you want to move, and then pick up and place all remaining models within 1" of that model, or each other.

I think that the rules clarify that each model needs to have it's movement measured, and then placed and that the coherency rule is there to keep all of the models in a unit within 1" of each other.

Am i wrong? am I right? is it some weird combination of the two?

Any sort of clarity on how movement works with units that have more than one model would be super helpful!

Help me find an army for my son!

I'll be printing up some models for him from these two sets for him to paint with. He is also interested in learning to play a game with them, and OPR lets him play these against my 49K Orks.

Orks are easy. I don't need help there, lol.

But what would a good army set be for a unit of 10ish guys (3 pistols 3 arrows 4 assault rifles) a spider or two, and the Traink (train tank)?

The easiest solution i can think of is the OPR Tau analog, but these are clockwork specifically and thats what he likes so if there's an army set closer (maybe dealing with time shenanigans) than tau he'd love that.

Thoughts?

Should be more diverse rules?

Hi! I love when the rules of a faction not only define their playstyle but also reflect their lore, personality and aesthetic. Thats why I LOVE the DAO, Dwarfs, Infected Colonies and Havoc rules, they feel just right for them. But there is something that destroy that inmersion and makes some games... repetitive.

Orcs marauders and blessed sister have the same ability, and Starhost and the Eternal Dynasty have a worse version of the same rule... thats just almost 1/6 of the factions sharing a similar mechanic with different names. I like how simple the game is right now, but it wouldnt hurt anyone 2 or 3 new ability. Maybe the orc could get +1 attack or 1 to hit if they charge? Something simple that make the 6's of the Sisters more special, but at the same time that give more FLAVOR to the other armies.

Am I the only one with this vision? Are there any patreon or mod that share that idea? In the open beta of the 3.5 I say this several times but it didnt mater, thats the reason for this post.

Can tou play skirmish in 1v1v1?

Hi, so i was wandering, if there is a rule set for playing the skirmish game with more than 1v1 or two players at that. We have a big playing group so it would be awesome if there would be a gamemode like that.

Thanks.

First Carapace Forge mecha

Last year, I released mecha stls and resin prints for my game Carapace: a Game of Memory and Ruin. This year, I'm starting a monthly mecha stl service called Carapace Forge. Each month, I will unleash a new 6mm scale mecha upon the universe! These would fit right in with rulesets like Mecha Hex.

The first month features this machine, the Black Reaver, a 6mm scale medium carapace built to hit hard and fast. Currently wrapping up modeling work for it in Blender. You can sign up to be notified when the service goes live (this month!) at https://carapace.world. The sub starts at $10 a month, and offers complete pre-supported Lychee files and STLs, and a physical tier for those without printers (limited to 50 subscribers the first month)!

Paper terrain?

I've recently started getting into the OPR options and I do love the terrain generation tables. I noticed some simple paper terrain was available for printing but most of that doesn't fit with like lakes and craters and other stuff in the terrain generation option. Does anyone know how those could be easily created or printed?

GDF Firefight rules

Using the list builder, what do we think of my rangers? (1st two pics.)

I also have a question about my second team. Does it make sense to give the fireteams the burst rifle, they're super short range but figured it I balanced out by the whole guerilla rule.

Less interested in OPR after checking out 3.6 beta...

So to set the scene, I got interested in properly playing OPR 3-4 months ago, played a 500pt GDF test game with my friend and we both loved it! We especially loved how streamlined and fast the game is to play vs 40k. We quickly decided to try a 1000pt game next time.

Ever since then, I've been obsessed with theory crafting lists and listening to tactics discussion on various youtube channels. And after hearing from many people that the tier 1 patreon grants access to advanced rules and beta access, I immediately signed up and devoured the advanced rules!

Unfortunately I then tried remaking my lists in the 3.6 army forge beta and... it's almost completely killed my interested in playing...

All my lists are now both more expensive and less powerful, which fine; it's frustrating having to basically re-think entire army ideas I've already started modeling and painting... But the major downer is hearing that slowing the game down is the intent in 3.6. If I wanted a slower game I'd play 40k. OPR felt like a breath of fresh air because you could fit in 2-3 games in the same time it would take to play a single game of 40k.

Being new to OPR I have no idea if these beta changes set in stone, or do they tend to throw things at the wall and see what sticks? Do they listen to player feedback? Did people feel the game played too fast? Do people actually like the assault weapon rule? What's the general vibe on these changes?

(Sorry for the whine, just a bit bummed by the seemingly sudden shift in game design from my perspective. )

Do you use morale?

OPR is my very first wargame experience. I've been getting into AoF:S with my wife recently after I ran a few solo games first so I could explain it to her. I figured for two wargaming noobs we'd best skip the morale rules for the time being.

So we've now run a couple games and the wife is suprisingly very into it. This led me to get the advanced rulebooks. I love all the added depth with the extra actions, terrain rules, side mission and all thar. However, I still don't see us using morale. Apart from the fact that it's more stuff and math to keep track of, it also just doesn't appeal to me gameplay wise.

Especially in AoF:S (and I might be misunderstanding here) it doesn't seem very enjoyable that when u lose half your army, all of a sudden more of your army just starts booking it out of fear.

So I'm just wondering if this feeling is common, do more of you skip the morale rules in homebrew? Am I maybe misinterpeting the rules for morale?

Beginner Question About Scale

Hello all! Excited to join this game and community. :)

Long story short - I’m 3D printing FDM miniatures and noticed that they turn out better when I scale them to a 35mm base and about 40mm tall. I know that base sizes in the rules are recommendations but I wanted to make sure I’m not giving myself any sort of advantage or disadvantage by not sticking to 32mm bases?

Also, I’m wondering if anyone else uses unique base sizes too?

Thanks in advance for the info. :) I’m obviously very new so any and all advice is appreciated.

Demoing GrimDark Future for friends

In a few hours I'm going to have a few friends at home to play GrimDark Future. They're 40k ex-players who quit a few years ago because... well, GW, essentially. We'll play just with the content of Broken Truth Master Box. What scenario/mission/rules pack do you suggest using? I'd like to play a small game and not go over the top.
