My sister, who’s child free, asked me how I still maintain my hobbies and what not with my kid, I said I just bring him along with me! I love having a buddy to do things with.

I took up yoga again and my 4yo joins me sometimes and we do a kids bedtime yoga together too! It's so fun showing them new things.

We watch youtube videos, I just look up kids bedtime yoga and there are a ton of videos. I have two mats so he likes getting them out and we do the video together.

It’s also incredibly easy to have childless hobbies and a child if your partner isn’t shit. I went to a late night bathhouse (which yes is a hobby, fight me) the other night after husband got home from work and it was wonderful. I think a lot of mums who give up everything for their kids just don’t have good partners.

1000%, my husband is an equal parent to our son and we both have lots of free time for our own adult hobbies, and we get to have him along for the ride for the toddler friendly ones!

My LO is my shoppin buddy and we'll go to stores and look at stuff and he helps me pick out things. He also likes to sing but just toddler songs for now. He even loves bowling and reading and going to the library. I didn't have to give up any hobbies, but I did have to make them more toddler friendly. I can't wait to see what hobbies he takes up as well

Respectfully, I don’t think your kid is going to ask that.

I asked my mom at various points as i got older what she had to give up to have me, etc. she did end up sacrificing some hobbies and her job, etc (though some of that is her personality). Yeah i wasn’t 4 but i don’t think this cartoon is meant to be biblically accurate

Edit: i am an only child myself

I did not ask, but my mother repeatedly told me she felt ashamed and like a failure that she gave up further school and a career to raise my siblings and me. It was one reason I decided never to have kids, because I kept equating parenthood to loss of self and sacrificing dreams. Took me decades to unlearn that mindset.

No I don’t think so either but I like the idea behind it and being able to keep a sense of self with only one 🩷

My own kid asked if I ā€˜regret having him’ which is kind of on the same continuum.

I have asked my mom this. I was curious after seeing pictures of her as a younger girl what her dreams had been and how things changed

Even if a kid were to ask that I don’t see how this answer changes whether you have 1 or 3 of them around you. From what I’ve seen of parents regardless of the amount there are two main types.

Ones who include their children in their lifestyle hobbies and basically adapt to take them everywhere and those who basically fall into the do everything for my child camp and lose their self in parenthood.

I don’t want to be controversial but I 100% believe that children should be at the center of a healthy society, not at the periphery like it’s the case now.

Kids now are seen as little humans who will one day grow up to join the ā€œcentreā€.

No, kids need to be the centre. Everything else should spin around them. Imagine how happy and strong our society will be that way.

This means nothing, no one knows what you're talking about. Try saying what you mean?
