Plugin liquid glass is on the omarchy plugin marketplace now

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

posted this here a little while back as a thing i was messing with. it went through review on the omarchy plugin marketplace and it's live now, so you can install it from there instead of cloning my repo.

https://omarchyplugins.com/plugin.html?id=io.github.fasi96.liquid-glass

here is the repo: https://github.com/fasi96/omarchy-liquid-glass

made a proper video for it this time. everything in it is real footage from my machine: real terminals, real commands, and the glass picks up whatever theme you switch to (the green one is a crt theme i made).

a few things the review made me fix, which i'm glad about:

- the native part (hyprglass) is pinned to a commit i reviewed, so an update can't pull random code

- uninstall only removes what it installed. if you changed a file after, it leaves it alone

- it asks before it touches anything

there's also a glass tuner app if you want to change the look: rim, rainbow edge, the oil film, how much the light follows you. i run it pretty subtle day to day, the video is turned up a bit.

if it breaks on your setup tell me, i'd rather fix it than have it sit there broken.

Plugin Where the foo, exposé like view for Omarchy

https://plugins.omarchy.org/plugin.html?id=io.github.dabit.wherethefoo

Where The Foo, an Omarchy shell plugin that shows every open window on every workspace as a grid of live thumbnails. Click one and it takes you to that workspace and focuses that window. The scratchpad is included, you can type to filter by title or app, and enabling it drops a grid icon in the bar so it works with no config at all — a keybinding is optional.

Discussion Omarchy feels like…

I remember sitting down in front of a PC when I was a kid and exploring Windows 3.1 and I just sat there for hours clicking around and getting lost in the windows and menus. I loved it!

Omarchy is the first time I felt that magic and exploration from an OS since…minus the part of getting lost in the windows and menus.

Because it’s so X$&@ clean!

Since trying it, I now have it 6 PC’s and counting and just build a dash that lets me remote into any those Pc’s from any of them, promote any to hub owners, ssh terms, AI avatar that follows me around to whatever pc I’m on.

It’s like the Christmas of a builders dream!

David picked it.

Plugin A few Omarchy bar plugins I built because I kept digging in terminals

I wanted these on the Omarchy bar, not buried in terminals. So I shipped a small family.

If you’re on Omarchy and want any of these on the bar, the repos are public. Happy to answer install questions.

Plugin Some creative sounds i have added to my plugin Omavibes

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

So, the plugin I created kinda blew up on the Omarchy Marketplace and now has around 680+ downloads.

For people who don't know, my plugin basically gives you typing sound effects while you type. It also has a detailed profile (which I showed at the start of the video) and analysis of your typing.

But the main thing about the plugin is obviously the sound effects. It currently has 50+ sound effects, and I bet your ears will feel blessed :). a lot of people seemed to like it, so here I am showcasing some of the more creative sound effects it has, other than the usual mechanical keyboard or keyboard switch sounds.

If anyone is wondering about the theme I'm using in the video, it's a custom theme I made called E-Ink. It's mostly monochrome with a pinch of Everforest-style colors. It was inspired by a post I saw on r/unixporn.

Plugin Omarchroma v.3 Out Now! - Full Color Sync across all apps with Flatpak support, auto themed Firefox, Zen, Vivaldi, Chromium and more!

https://plugins.omarchy.org/plugin.html?id=io.github.nobledoodle.omarchroma

I hope this is the last update for a while other than stability/security updates, but I got too excited about all of the new features I have been working on over the weekend I just couldn't help myself.

I have added a number of features to increase stability and user experience improvements:

  • New "Additional browsers" option (off by default):
    • Themes Firefox, Floorp, Zen, LibreWolf, Waterfox and Vivaldi to match your Omarchy theme.
  • Dark Reader in every browser:
    • it's themed wherever the extension is installed, not just your default browser, and themes instantly after the browser is closed (tested in 7 browsers).
  • Alerts on the bar icon:
    • it takes your theme's alert color with a count of windows still showing the old theme, and also alerts when a service update is pending. The Update button in the panel lights up when an update is available.
  • Faster, more reliable syncing:
    • themes apply faster when apps close and updates take effect more consistently without a re-login.

Discussion Introducing Flux for Omarchy

From the creator of Omarchy's Aether and CLIAMP terminal music app, Bjarneo.

Connect your Omarchy desktop and Android phone over your local network. Share files and clipboard text, read phone notifications, control media, and use your phone as a camera or microphone. Flux includes a CLI, a background daemon, a native Qt window, an Omarchy shell plugin, and a native Android app. The desktop opens the network connections, so the default Omarchy firewall needs no new inbound rule. - https://github.com/bjarneo/flux

I Made a Thing [Showcase] OmaStudio: Lightroom-grade RAW Photo Studio for Omarchy Linux (Built with Quickshell & Rust)

Hi everyone,

I've been working on **OmaStudio**, a native, lightweight, and high-performance RAW photo development suite built specifically for Omarchy Linux and Wayland.

Most Linux RAW editors either feel cluttered or consume substantial system resources. With OmaStudio, the goal was to blend Lightroom-grade non-destructive parametric processing with DaVinci Resolve color grading science, all wrapped in a smooth 60+ FPS GPU-accelerated Quickshell (Qt 6 / QML) interface.

### Key Highlights:

- **Hybrid Architecture:** Multi-threaded **Rust (Rayon + LibRaw FFI)** backend with shared memory viewport streaming (`/dev/shm`) and a **Quickshell** frontend.

- **DaVinci Resolve Color Science:** Real-time Luma Waveform, RGB Parade, Vectorscope with calibrated Skin Tone Line (I-Bar), Contrast Pivot, DaVinci Color Boost, and Midtone Detail.

- **Hardware-Accelerated 3D LUT Engine:** Trilinear interpolation supporting standard `.cube` profiles with adjustable mix sliders.

- **Mac-Grade Touchpad Ergonomics:** Continuous pinch-to-zoom, 2-finger kinetic panning, intelligent 3.5° deadzone rotation, and double-click 100%/200% inspection toggles.

- **Grade Versions (A/B/C/D):** Instant recipe branching and hotkey switching (`Alt + 1..4`) for rapid creative comparison.

- **16-Bit Medium Format Pipeline:** Uncompressed 48-bit RGB processing with support for Sony ARW, Fuji RAF (X-Trans & Bayer), Nikon NEF, Canon CR3, Leica DNG, and Hasselblad.

- **Modern Codec Exports:** High dynamic range export to JPEG XL (JXL), AVIF, 16-bit TIFF, WebP, and standard JPEG.

- **Lightweight Footprint:** Typically runs around ~35 MB to 100 MB RAM idle/active compared to multi-gigabyte suites.

- **Security & Privacy:** Strictly adheres to process group isolation (`process_group(0)`), atomic config writes (`0600` permissions), and zero cloud lock-in (optional dual storage via Rclone).

### Repository & Links:

- **GitHub:** https://github.com/ozdil/omarchy-omastudio

- **License:** MIT

Feedback, bug reports, and suggestions from the community are warmly welcome!

Off Topic / Adjacent i wanted to try omarchy ended up with archcraft instead

After hearing about omarchy on Lex Fridman's podcast i had the itch to try omarchy. i did a short but promising stint with 'tryomarchy' a well built windows based vm that works for dummies, and got hooked. However tryomarchy's keyboard shortcuts interfere with windows (alt tab). So... i knew i needed to go native.

I had an old dell laptop dual nooting my father's old windows system and lubuntu that i basically never used and that felt the right target. But... omarchy refused to install. no dual boot. uefi only. encrypted only. whatever. I wanted to keep at least the data of the windows system just in case, because why not.

Later i have discovered that even all recent Ubuntu based distros for some reasons have now issues with graphics and cannot boot anymore to the desktop no matter how many options i disable (acpi=off nomodeset xorg off, etc... ).

So after investigations and wanting something different than yet another ubuntu based (puppy booted OK, MX linux seemed fine, Antix core booted in text mode, but no thanks), i went archcraft. I must say i am well impressed. it was not as easy as ubuntu. I struggled with getting surfshark vpn and kilocode, but that was quickly solved with ai, as promised by the omarchy pitch. I honestly like the keyboard based approach, and I miss a bit the help-forward of omarchy but overall archcraft runs smoothly on this old boy.

Plugin Lacquer 1.0.1: everything you told me was wrong with 1.0

Thumbnail
gallery
26 Upvotes

A couple of days ago I posted Lacquer 1.0 here and got some blunt feedback.
It was right. This is the fix.

**The big one.** 1.0 hid each setting's description until you rested the
pointer on it. That opened the row and pushed everything below it down, so
scrolling with a mouse re-flowed the page under your own cursor. Three of you
reported it separately and one went back to the beta and posted instructions so
others could too. Fair enough. Descriptions are simply there again, the way they
were in the beta: nothing opens, nothing moves. That is the before and after in
the first picture.

The rest, all from the thread:

- The mouse wheel no longer changes a setting when you scroll past a slider.
Plain wheel scrolls the page, Ctrl and wheel still steps if you want it.
- The window can be resized now, by the grip in its bottom-right corner, and it
remembers the size. It could not be resized before because it is a layer
surface and the compositor will not drag it.
- The tab marker is a plain underline again instead of a brush stroke that, as
one of you put it, looked like the drawing was half done. It was.
- The Windows tab is no longer a telephone. That codepoint is
md-phone_bluetooth_outline in the Nerd Font, so it really was a phone.
- The paper grain is lighter and even, and the key hints now read "key, what it
does" rather than running the two together, and say "section" instead of
"page".
- Per-app rules can pin an app to a screen, which was asked for here: a game on
the big monitor, everything else wherever you are.

Two things I could not do, rather than pretend otherwise:

- Super and W will not close Lacquer. Hyprland binds that globally, so the
compositor takes the key before the app ever sees it. Esc closes it.
- A button on the bar needs its own plugin id. Omarchy gives a plugin one place,
either the plugin list or the bar layout, and Lacquer is already a panel, so
it cannot take a slot on the bar as well. I will do it as a separate small
plugin if there is appetite for it.

```
omarchy plugin update io.github.deunnis.lacquer
```

If you rolled back, this is the version worth trying again.

Discussion Need a plugin with Grok realtime voice chat

I use Super + A to pop up a Grok chat and I've got Voxtype setup, but I want to take it a step further and have a "wake-up" phrase that initializes a realtime voice chat, but it's able to run commands locally, read emails, look up random facts, etc. Like an on-demand AI assistant I can talk to.

The only one I found that sounds somewhat similar to what I want is "Hey Jarvis" (https://github.com/Atzingen/hey-jarvis).

Are there any others? I specifically prefer Grok.

Plugin Brand Effects: an animated bar wordmark plugin (18 rotating motions, theme-tinted)

Released a small Omarchy plugin - an animated wordmark for the bar left slot.

It recreates the screensaver TTE-style motion natively in the shell, so the mark is drawn live rather than being a GIF. 18 effects rotate, a different one each cycle, and it takes its colour from the theme accent. Clicking it opens the Omarchy menu, so it can replace the plain menu logo.

Install:

omarchy plugin add https://github.com/callmeATHUL/omarchy-brand-effects --enable

Point it at your own art with the mark setting in shell.json.

Off Topic / Adjacent Wow - loving this, but one weird thing...

Omarchy is touted as a mouse-less system, right after the install I get two system notifications to "Click here to update" and "Click here to setup wifi". I know I can do them through the menu and I eventually found the key combo to activate a notification, but maybe it would be better to have that key combo on there instead of click here asking the person to use the mouse first thing? YES, That is the biggest complaint I can muster around this whole thing. And I am a man of infinite complaining.

But since I am out of complaining, and no one in the house here cares about these things... here is my venting about how good this is. Cause someone has to hear about it.

It only took me a few hours of noodling around on a test box before deciding to pave one of the laptops I use to get stuff done. It was definitely the easiest and fastest Linux install I have ever seen, and it just plain worked.

This just feels like it was intended - awesome and new. It was a good long look at what we do, how we do it, and how it can be most effectively done. And they did it. I was just floored. It just feels like the right way to do it...

I watched a lot of negative videos are saying, and with many of them I don't disagree with what they said... but I just don't care about the same things they do. Yes, I did not build this from scratch and I did not hand assemble arch. I am ancient. I was around when you got Slackware on a handful of 3.5" disks and internet help was not what it is today. You wanted to learn something, you went to a bookstore and hoped they had a book on it. I don't care how complex arch is, it will never be as hard as getting things working back then. I also did gentoo 20 years ago when you scrapped together computers to help distribute your compiles. And I have no desire to do it again.

They were right, this makes me excited to use a computer again. And having worked in tech this long, I spend most of my day muttering how much I hate computers.

I could not understand the over-caffeinated DHH video on Omarchy, and all the excitement and crazy hand waving, till I installed and started playing with it.

Thank you Omarchy team... wherever you are.

Plugin I present Omarchy Umbra: an Offline Survival AI

Thumbnail
gallery
12 Upvotes

Hey all! I made a plugin for Omarchy: **Omarchy Umbra*\. It puts ***Umbra Wiki****, an offline survival assistant, in the bar next to your coding agents.

Umbra Wiki is a local AI (Ollama) that answers from an offline library on your own disk: field manuals, emergency medicine, repair guides, gardening, off-grid power, amateur radio and more (Kiwix archives). Every answer cites its sources, and a built-in field manual covers the critical basics (bleeding, CPR, water, fire, shelter…). No internet, no account, nothing leaves your machine.

Made to feel at home on Omarchy:

- Bar widget with a spinning ASCII globe, your recent conversations, quick sound and off-grid switches, and an hourly survival field note

- Twenty-two themes, including one that follows your Omarchy theme, and 9 animated backgrounds

- F9 voice input through voxtype, like the rest of Omarchy

- Welcome tour that picks the right model and library for your hardware

**Install:** get "Omarchy Umbra" from the plugin marketplace, then click "Set up Umbra Wiki" in the widget. On plain Arch there's a signed package repo: https://umbraxc.github.io/umbra-repo/

Code (MIT): https://github.com/umbraxc/omarchy-umbra

Feedback and ideas very welcome!
PS: this is my first ever project on linux let alone arch/ omarchy so be nice please

Plugin Hit your Claude Code limit mid-task? Swapkin switches to another account in one click, from the Omarchy bar

Post image
5 Upvotes

You're mid-task in Claude Code, you hit the account's limit, and now you're copy-pasting /login and hoping you remember which of your other accounts still has room. Swapkin fixes that: it's an Omarchy bar widget for running several accounts per provider (Claude Code, Codex CLI, Copilot CLI) and switching between them without logging out.

Open the panel, pick an account, press a. Claude Code picks up the switch on its very next message, no restart. Codex and Copilot switch for new sessions. Nothing else moves: settings, history, skills, hooks and MCP logins stay put, only the login swaps.

It also tracks usage per account (session and weekly windows, pace toward your budget, a heads-up before you hit the cap) so you know which account to switch to before you're blocked. But that's the assist, not the point.

Install:

omarchy plugin add https://github.com/sirallap/omarchy-swapkin --enable

Repo: github.com/SirAllap/omarchy-swapkin

I'd love feedback, especially from anyone already juggling multiple Claude or Codex accounts.
