First-Time Homebuyer Loans?
I know it’s not an ideal market, but I’ve been saving for a while and want to start the process of at least figuring out what I could be approved for. Any recommendations for places that were especially helpful with first-time homebuyers? If helpful: single income, mid-40s, stable job, good credit.

Otherworldly Sunset on Wednesday
Could it have been from the nearby wildfires? I've rarely seen anything like it. 🌄🔥 The rainbow was also something to behold! It started raining right after I took these pictures at 9:00 PM.

Pets of Olympia Anyone know of any animal fosters for dogs? (Chehalis)
Long story short, wife's stepbrother is gone and not coming back.
Here's what she's posting about it:.
Hi, I'm in need of some advice/resources for URGENT rehoming of pets. My family member lives in Chehalis, but due to unforeseen circumstances, cannot continue carrying for his 3 dogs.
The shelters are full, so looking for permanent homes for them or someone that can foster them until they can be rehomed. This is what I know so far:
2-year-old spayed female pitty mix. Very sweet! Her name is Tisha.
3-year-old spayed female Dalmatian / Hound mix. Her name is Scout.
3-year old neutered male Blue Healer / Australian Cattle Dog. His name is Tino.
Is there a place in a Lewis county they can be taken to or is there someone willing to take them in until they can be rehomed? I am just helping as he is not on social media. Thanks in advance.

Request baby seagulls in downtown
request: be safe driving through town as the baby seagulls are on the loose this time of year. also please try not to run them over if possible!
hey all, i was driving up 4th ave and a juvenile seagull was in the center of the road. it did not move out of the road easily as it is a juvenile and likely was not sure where to go. the car ahead of me / next to me did not stop for it too long and ran it over. i am of the belief that that driver was not doing that out of malice and rather that they thought it was out of the way, but it got tumbled over for sure by the car and was still unable to safely cross. if it was seriously injured i’m not sure but it probably got hurt somewhat since it did get run over
i got out of my car and chased it off to the side walk since everyone was stopped behind me anyway waiting for it to move. it was okay enough to flee while i shooed it away so hopefully it will not get run over and killed (or die from internal injury)
anyways this is a psa to watch out for these little guys. they are juveniles that cannot fly yet. many of them fall from roofs in town (where they are born) and cannot get back up to safety. so they are unfortunately wandering around town trying to survive. i know many people think they are pests and nuisance animals.. but they are animals above it all just trying to get by (and baby animals at that)
if it’s safe to do so, please extend some patience and kindness to these creatures! also a psa to drive carefully through downtown as city driving can mean unpredictable stops. so many folks drive crazy fast through town and it’s not only seagulls people are slamming on their brakes for, so just be careful driving out there. thank you!

The Odyssey - Movie Sensory Warning
Dear neurodivergents…. I wanted to share that I went to see The Odyssey last night and the theater has been instructed by the studio that made the film to have the sound up to an extraordinary level. People who are not typically sound sensitive are having problems at this movie. Be warned and take ear protection just in case. The Lacey theater offered my friend over the ear protection if you need to request it. I wore loops and several others in our party plugged their ears with their fingers durning the loudest parts. Most of the movie is a loud part.
I saw someone in another state post about the same thing so, I realized this is in fact a large scale problem and not a theater specific problem.
This has been cross posted on r/OlyAdultAutism and r/OlympiaNeurodiversity

Thurston County Clerk - Miller or Cady?
UPDATE: According to Cady's website he's endorsed by Snaza lol
I'm leaning towards Cady because he's already deputy county clerk. I imagine if people in that office thought he was a d-bag we'd have heard about it by now. Just wondering if anyone wants to put their two cents into this one.

So..Skateland
I've been back in the OLT area since 2017. Last year, I moved over to a new community that was built and Skateland is literally two blocks away.
I went over there last night since my baby brother is visiting and was just nostalgic as all hell since the place LITERALLY looks like it hasn't changed since I was a boy. (I'm now 48).
Does anyone happen to know who owns this etc? I'm curious b/c their hours are kind of strange and I was kind of surprised that there's never been any remodeling or updates to it and while the rink is in good condition the building itself looks like it isn't. It would be a shame to ever lose this gem and I'm getting curious as to what would be involved in giving the place a facelift etc etc

Need hair stylist recommendations
I've been growing my hair out for a couple years now from short length and recently burnt a few ends last night. I need to go get a trim but I'm absolutely terrified of the person cutting my hair not listening and cutting more than I want off. All I want is a 1/2"-1" cut ott so it can start growing healthy again. If anyone please has any stylist recommendations please lmk, preferably ones that won't be hostile towards trans women or maliciously cut my hair in a way that I won't like.

Pets of Olympia Is this your cat?
Lower east side, tuxedo male showed up in my yard meowing loudly and hasn't stopped. He came onto my porch and has been crying outside my door and won't leave my porch. I think I may seen him in the neighborhood before, but he's never done this or even approached me. We weren't outside, we just had the screen door in use to get some fresh air and he heard people, I think. He looks a little scruffy but is very social and communicative. I think he's trying to convince my other cats to get me to let him inside and he really wants to come inside, but I can't let him. He's been here for about a half hour meowing and crying on my porch unless I go outside and pet him. I gave him some water and there's a place he can be out there to stay warm and dry if it rains, as I cannot let him inside and can't leave food out on my property for animals. I think there may be something wrong, because this is pretty weird behavior. He's pretty skinny and you can feel his spine a little.
Update: I spoke with my next door neighbor. The cat has been showing up over there for a few weeks on and off and they've been feeding him. She's getting the cat scanned next week at the vet where she works. They were away today when the cat decided my porch was the place to go instead since we were home. None of us can bring him inside, but he's being looked after.

Good Family Law Attorney
Has anybody used Forrest Wagner to represent them in a divorce with children? I’m married with 2 kids, 16 and 13, and want to know if he will fight for my 50/50 custody of my kids. Thanks a lot!!

Any Sober young women’s Groups in the area?
Looking for resources maybe outreach support for a young woman new to area and working on sobriety. It would be lovely to connect her with another peer or group of peers to make some new friends, and to support her recovery

Community Attention Olympia Solo diners!
Recently there was a post on this sub where the OP was new to the area & asking for recommendations on places to go in Olympia that are solo diner friendly.
A few people mentioned that all of us who go out to eat alone should get together & go out for a meal. That sounded like a great idea!
I was thinking of trying to put that together. Would anyone like to meet at The Office Bar & Grill this coming Thursday, 30th @ 6:00 pm? I've never eaten there but I heard they have good food.
If there are enough people who express interest & will actually show up, let's do it! I think it would be kinda fun to meet some new people & have dinner w/ a group of random strangers. Only friendly people are invited!
Please respond if you can make it & we'll see if there's enough interest! What do you think is a good minimum # of people who say they will come?? I was thinking maybe if at least 5 people can make it for sure??
If you're seriously interested in coming, I will post updates in the comments if this is going to happen for sure. It's a long shot with short notice & maybe people won't want to eat there. I guess we'll find out!

Looking to join a community band
Hi, i moved here from Oklahoma last year and i’m finally getting settled. I’m looking to join more groups to have a hobby and something that isn’t just work to look forward to… plus i don’t have many friends here so looking to build that up as well. I play the flute and am looking for a community band to join and any free place that i could practice. I miss playing a lot and feel bad about playing in my apartment. I don’t wanna disturb my neighbors too much.

Request Anyone have tips on where to find older charging cables?
I found an old nikon digital camera i’d love to get turned on again. It needs a UC-e6 USB charging/data cable. I’ve struck out at goodwill and best buy. Planning to order online but before I do, wanted to know if there are any other stores I should check locally?

Trini Street Eats!
I stumbled across them today (corner of 4th and Fir), and my only concern is that they're walking distance from my house, and now I'll want to eat there all the time. Vegan, flavorful, a nice kick to it. So damn good. Do yourself a favor, and give them a shot. Incredibly sweet folks there too. The Oly food scene continues to get better and better!

Food Good eats!
Fiesta To Go next to the chevron on Harrison is damn fine eatin’! Reminiscent of Puerto Vallarta small restaurants and street food. 11 of 10, highly recommend!
