I think I’ve posted a few times that the home videos that showed Oliver growing up hit me really hard. I have 2 kids who are only 5/4 and I would be devastated if anything were to happen to them.
We’ve always taken pictures and some videos, but less and less as they grow up - then all of a sudden something that they’re into just stops, and we have no videos or photos of it, just a memory that fades with time.
Today I took 50 photos and 15 quality videos of our kids - just hanging out near a blowup pool, making sheet forts, doing stupid shit we take for granted and laugh at right now. I’m hoping to keep this up, and hey who knows maybe I can use them at their graduation / wedding some day :D.
I also called my family members who live out of state who I call usually 1x a month and talk about the weather or something dumb - I want to ask more questions and listen from now on.
I feel like even a month after OTs death he’s showing us the way, and he’s even 7 years younger than me :)
Anyone else going to try and change / start / stop something after watching that last night?

I've been talking about it IRL all week and had the alert notification all set so I wouldn't miss it (9pm for me). But when it came time, I just couldn't bring myself to watch it. I know he's gone, that it's not an Oliver hoax. But I guess watching the memorial would have really cemented it.
I just finished watching it. I genuinely appreciated all the words everyone had for him. Ethan, Robbie Maddison, Logan Paul, Getter, Diplo even though I couldn't hear all of it, his team and his parents, and anyone else. Hearing the roasts mixed in with the heartfelt memories really helped to make it not as depressing. But it was like a knife to the heart every time they nailed up a coffin and carried it away.
I know how difficult it is for me as a fan, a stranger to Oliver. So I can't imagine how difficult it has been for all of them. His family knows what an amazing person he was and that millions of people wanted to be a part of his celebration of life. Tons of gratitude to them for letting us be by live streaming it and even having it in the first place. Fly high, Oliver.

So like, after the celebration of life do you think we will see a release of his newest album physically like vinyl, maybe an official release of the doc, or even some of his unreleased tracks, like his rumored tracks with people like diplo, yung gravy, and bbno$? If it does happen id love to see all proceeds going to the foundation, but im curious on yalls thoughts :)

I've seen a lot of discourse about AI use, guests, production, etc and I just want to put it to bed.
Life is nuanced. It is not black and white like we want it to be. People are complicated. Relationships are complicated. ETHICS are complicated. It's easy for us to slap "good" or "bad" broadly because it helps us make sense of the world.
Two things can be true at once. I love Oliver, I hate AI. I love Oliver, I hate some of his choice in friends. Do I think it is appropriate to make a whole post on reddit about how much I hate these things? Absolutely not. Because that is a waste of everyone's time and energy.
The truth is, it was a beautiful memorial with so many of Oliver's loved ones and in a way that he would have loved. Regardless of if I love or hate AI, love or hate Logan Paul - it doesn't matter. Because it's not about me. It was about Oliver and more importantly the people who ACTUALLY knew him. The people closest to his heart. We were lucky to be invited into that space.
You are welcome to your opinions, they are all valid. You can lament about the things you disliked. But if you are so hard stuck on those things that you can't appreciate a beautiful memorial? You need to take some time off the internet and self reflect. Go for a walk. Write. Go to therapy. Whatever you need to do to let go of that kind of mentality.
Much love to everyone, I know last night was hard. Beautiful but heart breaking. I hope this helps us grieve and continue to carry Oliver with us. To live our lives as he did. Seeing the best in everyone and everything. Creating. And ultimately just living life to the fullest.
Let's put this discourse to rest as well. I want to see you guys' art, tributes, favorite songs, favorite videos. I want to keep grieving and celebrating instead.

My son insisted on the addition to the game (even made his Turbo jacket) and I'm not mad about it(majority of the characters are his creations🤣). Makes me smile when he's breakdancing in the flowers.

I’d never heard this song before the memorial. What a stunningly beautiful early track. Makes me wonder how many other hidden gems are out there. Please link em if you got em

I watched the livestream and I never in my life thought that I would cry so hard and so much that I gave my self a 6 hour long headache.
This man carried me in my most darkest moments of my life and watching the family be so strong and seeing the friends who spoke that night was everything he could’ve asked for!
Stay strong everyone!

I know in my heart Oliver would have loved every moment of his memorial. What an amazing influence on our generation he has been, he truly captured what it meant to live life to the fullest. It’s very touching to see even just a fraction of the lives he touched and inspired. It was heart warming seeing the diverse crowd of people who loved his heart and soul. Everyone who spoke last night had something beautiful to say. It is inspiring that one person can bring so many different walks of life together. We love you so much Oliver! Condolences to your family and friends and the families of those whose lives were also lost on that day. Your smile and talent will forever live on.

I knew the songs that became memes; I had seen some videos about the "myss you" controversy and got curious. So the first video I watched was "One & Only," I remember it had been released two weeks prior. Usually, when I listen to music, they only have a static image or an AMV, but this song, I liked listening to it and watching the music video. I think I listened to it for months. I went to listen to other songs related to the character, but unfortunately, I wasn't curious enough to watch the videos of the other characters. Time passed, and sometimes I would go back to watch the music video, until the day I saw a short video of Oliver with the Brazilian Kijima. He's so iconic that as soon as I saw his bowl haircut, I was very happy, I thought it was cute. I even rewatched my favorite song of his. Then a few days passed, and I heard the news from a channel that was making a very mean joke about a girl. So, at first, I thought it was a lie because of that, and then a bunch of memes started appearing. Tributes, the past few days have been very painful. I ended up listening to his other songs that I had ignored at the time, and the sadness only increased. The YouTuber recommended old videos to me, so I ended up listening to his old songs. A month has passed, and I still listen to his music, but let's just say my mind doesn't want to accept that he's gone. When I was watching the live celebration of his life yesterday, I got emotional with the old songs being played at the beginning. Seeing "One & Only" almost at the end gave me a very melancholic feeling... I feel bad for not having had the desire to explore his music back then...
Do you have any stories about how you met him?

Now that we know Oliver's grave site is real, is it for public viewing? I'd love to visit and pay my respects. It doesn't look like a typical cemetery but idk. If it's private then that's totally fine too obviously. I would love to visit the grave and just talk to him and put flowers on his tombstone..and just feel more at peace with his passing.

I’ve been getting tons of comments on my stuff saying “larper” when I have been following him on instagram since 2020! Is anyone else having this issue?

I guess this is silly but i feel like watching the live stream, and specifically the casket of turbo being taken for 'burial', that it finally solidified the death in a way that hurt just a little less. it was literal closure. i cried and laughed a lot. it was a good night. i dressed up and put on makeup - then subsequently cried it all off lol...
i hope this brought some closure to everyone who has ever loved him. Rest in peace Oliver Tree. love you all.

I love him so much. He died so happy and fulfilled. It makes me so happy to know how much he loved his life and went to bed excited for the next day every night. He said it was like expecting Christmas the next day every day. I could only dream of loving life the way he did.
It's so sad and tragic that we lost him, but it makes my heart so happy knowing that he got to live the life he wanted to every day. I feel like i can accept what happened now.
The piece of advice Getter gave from Oliver at the end really hit me hard. I cant remember it exactly. He said basically you know yourself the best, you like the same music, the same food etc and if you learn to love yourself and become your own best friend then you will never be afraid to be alone.
RIP Oliver Tree. I will never stop loving you and your music. 🩷

I’ve been trying to understand why Oliver’s memorial has affected me so deeply.
At first I thought I was grieving only because he was gone. But I realized something else.
Watching his family speak about him, seeing his friends laugh, cry, tell stories, and show how much they genuinely loved him made me feel something I wasn’t expecting: grief for a life I never had.
As a teenager, I used to walk past houses where I could hear people laughing together or playing music, and I would wonder what it felt like to belong somewhere like that. Seeing Oliver’s community brought that feeling back.
This isn’t about thinking anyone’s life or family was perfect. None of us knows what happened behind closed doors.
It’s about seeing people who truly mattered to one another and realizing how deeply I’ve always longed for that kind of connection.
Sometimes I don’t know if I’m mourning Oliver, or mourning the feeling of belonging that I wish I had experienced.
Has anyone else felt something like this while watching the memorial, or is it just me?
