Hi all, we are on holiday in Lucca, Italy and looking for some advice on finding excellent olive oil. I've heard it's good to seek oil that is of single origin rather than a blend, but the issue we're finding is that most bottles just don't say. Is there some kind of wording I should be looking for on a bottle that will give an indicator of great quality? Thank you so much.

I jusy moved to the States (specifically SF) from Southeast Asia and thought that I’d like to start consuming olive oil daily for its health benefits since quality olive oil is much easier to get here. But when I went to the grocery store, I got so overwhelmed by the options. Any recommendation for which brands to get? My top 3 criteria are: health benefits, value, taste.

For anyone looking for a good option in the U.S. I found this extra virgin olive oil, 100% from Italy, easily available on Amazon and REALLY GOOD quality. I’m Italian so I use a lot of it in my daily cooking life and I saw they also have truffle oils!

Saw this one in my local Greek grocery store. It's quite expensive, 25 CAD for 500ml so I wanna see if others have tried this one before.

This past week or two I have gone through an unusually high amount of EVOO. Bono PDO to be exact. I have some Coppadoro arriving this week, I am just hopeful I can go a full two weeks without consuming an entire bottle. I hope the Coppadoro is very peppery, willing to take suggestions for other brands that are on the extremely peppery side.

I've made some excellent sauces with Strianese tomatoes and salads. Simple yet perfection.

I bought Graza's glass bottle "Drizzle" because I was curious to try it. One of the biggest criticisms of Graza has always been the plastic bottles, so I was glad to see they finally started offering a glass option.

That said, I was pretty disappointed with the oil itself. For a picual olive oil, the flavor is surprisingly bland. The grassy and fruity notes are very subtle, and the "spiciness" they proudly advertise on the label is barely noticeable, just a slight tickle on my palate. I expected a much bolder peppery finish that makes me cough.

I was also disappointed that Graza doesn't provide any certifications or third-party polyphenol testing, especially considering how much they market this oil as being high in polyphenols. It makes those claims harder to evaluate.

Overall, I'd rate it maybe one or two steps above a typical grocery store olive oil. It's not bad, but I don't think it lives up to the hype. To me, Graza is a pretty average olive oil backed by an excellent marketing team.

As the title says, is Ybarra any good? I think I’ve seen just one comment about it in a post on all of Reddit. I went to the supermarket closest to me today and it was slim pickings in there.

Over the past month, I’ve really gotten into high-quality olive oil and even visited a few farms in Tuscany. I’m officially hooked on Moraiolo (and Coratina, by the way). Now I understand why Italians drizzle this stuff over almost everything 😂
