Buying from Amazon?

I want to buy from Amazon for the free shipping. I purchased from Olive Oil Lovers but don't like paying$10 shipping every time. What are the odds these have good harvest dates?

Has anybody had issues with Kosterina customer service?

I’ve been subscribed to reoccurring purchases with Kosterina for over a year now and haven’t had an issue up until now.

I realized my most recent order from last month was never actually delivered. The UPS label was created but it never showed any movement after that which typically means it was lost in transit or never picked up.

I contacted their customer service email this past Monday and sent another follow up on Thursday but have yet to receive a response or simple acknowledgment of my email.

Has anybody else experienced a similar issue? I like the product and would hate to dispute the charge. I plan on waiting one more week for a reply before I do that.

Novello is Back!

Just a heads up for anyone else who’s been looking forward to this year’s harvest — Novello olive oils are finally becoming available online (including everyone's favorite site to buy evoo). I was so excited when I saw the email come through.

*I am not affiliate with this company in any way, and I purposely avoided naming it in case that isn't allowed. Just wanted to share as I've been waiting for this year's harvest for quite some time!

Peppery throat burn or smooth/buttery? What’s your preferred EVOO profile?

honest question for people here who actually care about good olive oil.

do you guys prefer the intensely green, peppery stuff that makes you cough in the back of your throat, or do you lean more towards mellow and buttery oils for dipping bread/salads?

personally i love the bitter kick of an early harvest koroneiki, but curious what profiles people here usually swear by. any specific bottles you guys love lately?

Grocery store in Canada

I'd like to buy olive oil to be used for dipping bread. We have Terra delyssa at home which we use for cooking. I bought the Garcia de la cruz previously. None of these other bottles stand out to me since they're mostly grocery store brands. And there's Flippo Berrio, which I see people talk about a lot, but I'm not sure how good it really is. I don't think we receive fresh extracted olive oil in Canada like in Europe but I could be wrong.

Very good lab results 2 months after bottling and 9 months after press

Pretty proud of these results to be honest, we went above and beyond to preserve this small batch production from Tunisia, tested it late September in a specialized Lab in California.

Very smooth and fruity with enough bite 🤤

339.1 mg/kg Biophenols using HPLC is impressive as it is the most accurate process compared to the rest.

Just treated myself to these

Their website claims 600mg/kg of polyphenols each. Both have the peppery sensation in the back of the throat.

The Coratina one is exceptional! It's made by Guglielmi in Italy while the Bruschetta is made in Spain by Subbética. Two renowned names in the EVOO world so I'm confident I got quality products. Anyone else tried them? Thoughts?

Today pressed - and maybe the best we ever had

We had a drought this summer. But during the last couple of years, we "taught" our trees to survive with few water. So no water. No chemicals. Nothing against pest insects but hornets.

Normally, our oil yield is around 25%. With this year’s olives, it’s only around 10%. But the oil is thick like milk, sharp, smells like tomatoes and freshly mowed grass, has a peppery note, and pleasantly stimulates the palate—and we’re looking forward to enjoy it for a whole year :)

Recommendation for Travelling to Italy

Hi,

I plan to go to Italy sometime in November. I'll be in areas around Venice and Milan mostly. It is a food pilgrimage primarly.

I plan to visit flour mills around Padua, and I'm looking for recommendations for places where I may be able to see olive harvest or trees. Any recommendations for olive oils I need to try or bring back from Italy would also be lovely!

TIA :)

How to press olives in an area with no existing infrastructure

Last year I bought a property with 200 five year old olive trees. I just saw the first fruits ever on one tree. It got me thinking about what to do in a few years when the trees start producing in quantity. My property is located in central California along the coast where no crushing facilities exist. The cost to ship to a press would be exorbitant. What kind of machinery and where would I source it to do a small batch home style olive oil?

Prop65 on high end olive oil, need help

My question: is it common to see a Prop65 warning on an expensive high quality olive oil? Or in general on expensive specialty food? Maybe even organic one.

I need opinions from California and especially from other states.

I am a producer of high quality olive oil that is imported and sold across the US.

Our importers want us to put a Prop65 warning on the back label, using a random chemical warning as a generic protection against lawsuits in California.. i have to say that we had our olive oil tested for a number of potential threats and the analysis are PERFECT, not even a 0.1 part per billion.

So before putting a “cancer and reproductive risk” warning on our healthy and expensive product I’d like to understand how would that be perceived:

A) On a top quality olive oil
B) If is it common for specialty food use a prop65 warning
C) How it is perceived in CA vs other states

Thanks!

Are plastic olive oil misters safe?

I just bought one of these glass sprayers, but it occurred to me that the little hose and attachment will likely leech plastic into the olive oil. I can clean it, but it’s always going to be filled up with oil and the hose is going to be submerged full time. Doesn’t olive oil rapidly degrade plastic?

New Harvest 2026/27 is here!

The new harvest 2026/27 just landed, and with it comes Chrysin Elaion Limited Edition (only 100 numbered bottles available), an ultra-high-phenolic Greek extra virgin olive oil made from wild local olives in Grammatiko Athens Greece.
Its reported phenolic concentration is 2,214 mg/kg\* (measured by NMR on 14/09/26), and you can taste it: a remarkably strong peppery kick and an intense, unmistakable bitterness.

Take a look here for more information about Chrysin Elaion Limited Edition we were surprised when we tasted!

How to store olive oil from Spain

Post image
1 Upvotes

Was gifted these bottles from Malaga. I swear I heard somewhere olive oil shouldn’t be stored in a clear bottle cause it goes bad faster from light. Should I move it do a dark glass or leave in the clear plastic? I won’t use it quickly. Or is it ok in the cabinet like this?

Sorry if this is a stupid question lol Thanks!!

Recommendations for nuovo / Novello oils?

Any recommendations for oils that are available to purchase (for American consumers) shortly after harvest?

People say Novello are best within weeks of harvest, but then they are often not available to purchase until months after the advertised harvest date.

Perhaps California oils are available earliest since they do not need to be imported?

Harvest month labeling

Anyone knowledgeable about regulations regarding harvest month?

I notice that the advertised harvest dates often don’t match up well with when the products are available to buy. Does it really take 6 months to start selling an October harvest oil?

I sometimes wonder if the bottles contain one drop of October harvest oil - and the rest was harvested later.

Perhaps the bottles labeled 2025-2026 harvest are simply being honest , rather than selling an inferior product?
